Planetside 2 V6 - VS capped Indar? It's more likely than you think
Any aware engineer isn't going to be behind a tank unless they absolutely have to. Also the fact that a tank is worth well more then an engineer, both in terms of time and resources.
What I do hate is the drivers who run into me while I'm on the side of another tank repairing. That's just the driver not caring to move one meter to the side.
As a person that has engineer as it's main class, i have to say, it is basic procedure to repair a tank while standing on it's side, so if it goes backwards or forward you wont be run over.
I pity VS engineers who can be run over either way when repairing a magryder :v:
Downtime ETA: Up to 2 hours
I want to see if they double or triple the downtime like they did the other day, since their time is up already.
What is there to disagree about? They started at 6am PST, and now it's 8am PST and the servers still aren't up yet?
I started playing the game after they buggered up the cert distribution, so when they say people will be reimbursed, how many certs would be talking? Tens? Hundreds? Thousands?
Servers still down? Guess you can't count on SOE to actually -not- fuck up a patch.
This got got posted on the patch notes comment. I think it describes the average SOE forum user pretty well:

I just use my minimap as a guide when I'm walking through lots of armour
I love it when a base is about to be captured and you see a ring of engineers around the SCU ready for it to flip. All it's missing is some incense and chanting for the divine intervention of the Omnissiah.

VS swarmed a Biolab yesterday, and after about 45 minutes of non stop farming us with endless waves of MAX and 30 tanks/shrikes, they took it over. I hid in a corner outside the spawn just before it flipped, and after about 15 seconds I popped out and slaughtered 7 engineers with my supressed T9 Carv and a grenade as they swarmed the thing. It felt wonderful.
I even managed to run off and kill a BR90 clan guy that saw me, and his HA friend who must have got screeched at over TS. But I ran around a corner to get my shields back and a third person popped around a corner 40m away and immediately started to open fire on me.
I wish I had voice comms with people that would valiantly seek revenge upon my killers after I scream "HE JUST ROUNDED THE CORNER AND IS BEHIND THE TREE".
They mentioned in one of the past updates that that they were holding off on drones to give them additional capabilities.
Awesome. Last I saw of them you could fly around with them and spot people and they would let you have things such a vision zoom, thermal vision and night vision.
So if they are holding them off for additional capabilities I wonder what those will be. Guns of any kind would be to much to ask for but it would be funny if they let you equip a low damage tazer for when you make contact with a player. Kind of like in the game receiver.

I'm hoping you get some sort of laser guidance capability. Like if there was a lightening missile turret or a secondary weapon mount that was guided by the drone. Would be p cool.
Yeah, just being able to shoot stuff would be kind of lame. More teamplay, movement, or buff/debuff things would be cool.
I really want to see the recon drone in the future. The MAV is one of my absolute favorite features of BF3 and BF4. Playing dedicated MAV with a team of good shooters, calling enemy positions, scanning points they are walking into, is immensely satisfying.
So new snipers are not in because of long testing or what?
When in a group drones will be great for distracting an enemy whilst your friend shoots them in the back to.
In some ways, I wish there was more done to encourage low level operations. Sort of if a base secondary objects that were a little more discrete and worked better on a small scale level.
I think they were planning on doing base scaling. So giant bases with few people would just get things shielded off.

The crossbow can hurt tanks, and about 15 to the rear will kill one. I'm scared of where this may go.
I was already scared enough of LA.
With 20 minutes of an alert to go, with TR holding all but two of the six tech plants (in the process of capturing one and the other having four squads piling in to galaxies to attack it) the server goes down for maintenance.
SOE hates TR.

Reminded me of this, with a shorter nose.

If you're not getting instagibbed by AV turrets you won't be instagibbed by this. Don't worry. Pretty much all you can do with it is hurt tanks that are AFK. Unless it's useful against infantry nobody is going to use it.

I just want to get a squad of Stalker infiltrators with explosive bolts and just run around murdering Magriders now :v:
Kinda unsure if i want to spend my certs on the Crossbow, seeing as the NC rifle has turned into another wookie stick.
Crossbow + the stalker cloak (new cloak which disables your primary weapon but does not use cloak power when not moving(It regens while cloaked and not moving too) + crossbow would probably be a really good combo.
I do think they might change the stalker cloak, as you can stay cloaked infinitely.
[editline]14th February 2014[/editline]
also the explosive bolts are quite powerfull. if you got like a squad of people all using them, you'll be able to bring down any vehicles which happens to be nearby within no time.

That's the point of Stalker cloak though. When you stop moving entirely the stationary cloak is really, really good. I jumped off a biolab pad into an outlyer while cloaked and then moved off the platform and stopped moving. So many people just ran right past me within like an inch without suspecting anything. It's great to infiltrate, hide and wait for someone to run past and pick them off, before breaking line of site and waiting again.
Everyday I play I feel like I've gotten better, that or I'm kicking the rust of my FPS skills. Probably both. Though I'm afraid of not investing my Certs very well.
I like the new crossbow weapon it really goes hand in hand with the new stalker cloak. Had fun killing people silently and without them knowing where I am because I can stay invisible forever if I play my cards right with where I fire from.
That and you can get some decent range out of the crossbow to so even if you are using the stalker cloak and not having a primary you can still get good damage and distance with the added bonus of being invisible.
Explosive bolts are pretty damn situational IMO. They don't do more damage than normal bolts, you carry less ammo with them, and to kill a lightning with one it takes your whole ammo pool pretty much.
That said, an entire squad/platoon using them along side other stuff would be pretty decent I'd imagine. Also good for light assaults after C4'ing - just bolt the thing to death.
What is REALLY good is using the bolt plus a knife kill. 1 bolt + Knife = dead on every class, even if you don't headshot (headshots are one bolt kill period for infils at least). That with stalker cloak is incredibly syngerious, especially since the bow is silent.
Just uncloak, shoot+knife and cloak. Its about as quick to do as a TF2 backstab except works everywhere.
Gotta save for that crossbow now :v: only 750 certs to go...

I have tried the explosive bolts and personally they aren't that great on your own. You have less ammo and the fall off is WAY MORE killing the range capabilities considerably unless you aim high above your target. That and the fact that your no longer firing silent arrows.
To be honest explosive bolts just take away two of the best things abut this being a secondary range and silence.
Its cool because now you can technically damage tanks and stuff but the damage is so little it is pointless. Explosive bolts would be best used as a group to take out MAXES or just as group mortar fire. Not recommended for solo play but standard bolts are.
Would be great though if you are an SMG infil. Just SMG normal targets, switch to xplod crossbow for assists against armor low flying/hovering air and being able to seriously hurt max units
How damaging are explosive bolts to ESFs? Can they realistically be used to destroy one if the pilot is dumb enough or will it take far too many to be feasible?
