TR would suit British accents perfectly
That's exactly what I see them ass; sort of British Empire with spehs muhreens thrown in.
Would be neat if all the nationalities had their voice packs unlocked from the beginning, it'd be neat to have some actual different voices asking for ammo and repairs and etc. instead of what amounts to more or less something like a clone army. :v:

Also the crossbow is PERFECT for light assaults if you get the explosive tip. Two C4 on a sundy, shoot with xbow to blow them up and finish off with xbow.
Holy shit yes. Time to invest into LA. I knew keeping 500 certs around would come in handy.
I think TR would suit British accents perfectly
I would kill myself if I heard TB on the battlefield.
vanu need, like, a microsoft sam text to speech soundpack
Make them sound like Eldar.
Make them sound like Eldar.
When they run out of ammo they just scream "YOU MUST BUILD ADDITIONAL PYLONS"
just replace their voices with techno music and be done with it
just replace their voices with techno music and be done with it
"I need ammo" = "wub wub wub, wubb BRRRRRRRR"
"I need a medic!" = "BRRRRR wub WUB BRRRRRR wub WUB"
"Your best is my worst" = "brrrrRRR WUB WUB (DROPTHEBASS) BRRRR WUB wub WUB"
My sum up of TR Connery Outfits:
EXE - "Battle coms, Battle coms! Only squad leaders can communicate on Platoon chat, even if they are AFK!" my god why.
XPIV - One of the more relaxed outfits, usually allows people to openly talk on Platoon chat unless the squad leaders are telling everyone a battle plan
KOR - Yeee fun Korean people.
"Military Unit" Outfits (ie. 1st - 999th TR Infantry) - Mixed bunch, mostly retarded.
It's like god, why can't we just openly talk on Platoon chat to communicate important discussions.

I just want an outfit thats just like "hey lets just go fuck around and have fun, maybe get serious if we really want to."
But most are like "18+ PROS ONLY, BR 80+ ONLY, NO TALKING EVER UNLESS YOUR COMMANDING OFFICER SAYS SO"
either that or "lol guys i just srtared playing, hoo likes boobs?"
My current platoon was meant to be that, but I hardly play Planetside 2 like some of these outfits do so I can't simply get it organized to full strength.

Hell I wouldn't even care it an outfit wasn't organized, just so long as we could get together and have fun, so long as everyone aren't a bunch of idiots or dicks.
I just want to make a harraser and shove a MAX in the back and just drive right into enemy forces, or crash an aircraft right into an infantry line, or whatever.
Just stupid shit that everyone involved could laugh about.
I'm in the F3NX outfit and we often get serious and kick some major arse but we always seem to end up blowing all our resources on air vehicles and crashing them into the enemy warp gates till 3 in the morning.
"I could use a medic here at this stage!" :v:
"I do say I have spotted an enemy gentleman."
This is why I want the new crossbows so bad. They are basically short/medium range bolt actions. 1 bolt + knife = kill no matter what. Its such great synergy with the stalker cloak, I was testing it out in VR when the patch went live and was loving it.
Also the crossbow is PERFECT for light assaults if you get the explosive tip. Two C4 on a sundy, shoot with xbow to blow them up and finish off with xbow.
Wait really? How many arrows does it take to finish of a sundy assuming no blockade armor?
Wait really? How many arrows does it take to finish of a sundy assuming no blockade armor?
Engineer and not light assault but same principle as 2 C4 +crossbow explosive tips.
Sorry I don't have exact damage values to make a solid comparison but 2 C4 + 1 anti vehicle mana turret rocket = dead sundy and the damage difference from crossbow explosive tips is equivalent to anti vehicle mana turret rocket if you fire about 3 of them. It only takes seconds to fire all 3 crossbow bolts.
EXE - "Battle coms, Battle coms! Only squad leaders can communicate on Platoon chat, even if they are AFK!" my god why.
Because it is soooooooooo fucking annoying to be in a serious platoon and then have idiots communicating to their squad through platoon voice. Or having a conversation about random non-PS2 shit in platoon voice. If I'm in Alpha I don't want to hear fucking Delta lead telling his guys what to do on the opposite side of the fucking continent. There's a difference between important discussion and dumb shit not relevant to the entire platoon. Connery VS are terrible at platoon chat, I've joined countless groups only to hear dumb shit from non-squad leads like "Sundy southeast" when my squad is 10 territories away, or shit like "Hey I remember you we played together a few nights ago". Like, cool just fucking whisper that guy and stop using platoon for dumb shit
And fuck EXE, everyone in that outfit has a fully certed lib/mosi... fighting connery TR is the dumbest shit because you just get swarmed by air all day
And fuck EXE, everyone in that outfit has a fully certed lib/mosi... fighting connery TR is the dumbest shit because you just get swarmed by air all day
The thing with EXE is most of their pilots aren't really that good. There are a few good pilots in there but a lot of them won't even evade burster fire.

The outfit I'm in is pretty much like that
We do actual coordinated stuff but mostly semi-casual in practice (still though, the platoon leader will bitch at you if you hop in his tank to gun and aren't engineer :v:), and when we can't find anything to do we do what we like to call "dick ops" where we basically go do stuff like go in a major base that isn't being fought over by our faction or set up by an enemy warpgate to mass-AA or AV the zone and other such things. Its funny how pissed off enemy factions get at us for doing that and how many people they send to us to try and root us out :v:
So after messing around with the Crossbow some more I have decided that this is one of the most useful new weapons we have had to affect the majority of classes in a positive way. A quick detailing of the usefulness for each class below.
Infiltrator
The first and most obvious class to use this weapon is the Infiltrator and of course this new weapon goes hand in hand with its new class ability of the stalker cloak. Practically unlimited stealth with a powerful silent secondary weapon that can be fired at medium range. It is like have a silent bolt action rifle and will probably become one of the standard kits you see Recons use.
Combat Medic
For this class I find that I don't tend to use my secondary that much and I spend a lot of time keeping my allies alive. Having situation awareness is key as you need to know if it is safe to put away your gun and start reviving someone and this is why having the crossbow with the Recon bolt is something we may see Combat medics use now. The Recon bolts basically work like the old recon dart gun that has a small radius and shows you where enemies are nearby. Now Combat medics can safely fire a Crossbow Recon bolt and know if it is safe to revive.
Light Assault / Engineer (I put these two together as I think the crossbow works the same for them)
These are two classes that you will see running around with C4 blowing stuff up but you will often find that the vehicle you are blowing up just has a bit of health left and you don't have anything to finish it with. Well now thanks to the crossbows Explosive bolts you have something to finish off that sundy or tank that is badly smoking but is just out of reach for you to plant another C4 onto.
Heavy Assault
This class I feel the crossbow affects the least as you will be using your primary gun to kill infantry and you have a good rocket launcher for vehicles but the crossbow can still help out with some cases. Explosive bolts can be useful when you have just fired a rocket at an enemy tank and it is right on the verge of death but you know the time it is going to take you to reload your rocket launcher is too longer so you can swap out and finish the job with 2 to 3 explosive bolts. This may be more for rarer certain situations but you will be glad you brought those explosive bolts along when those situations arise.
I have to say I am absolutely loving this new secondary weapon for all of my classes and will be looking out much more now for Infiltrators trying to get up close to shoot then knife me or Light assaults / engineers trying to catch me off guard in my tank. Really happy they released this weapon.
I just hope they don't nerf it to oblivion after I get it.
I just hope they don't nerf it to oblivion after I get it.
That is why I now don't have a clue as to what to do; buy it and watch it get turned to a pile of shit or wait and see how nothing happens to it.
My top two options for 1000 certs now are .1 seconds faster reload speed, or a crossbow. So, I'm leaning crossbow. By the time I get it, things will likely have settled out for it.
Voice Packs should be part of the Character Creation stage.
It would certainly spice up the gameplay a little, you tend to disconnect from the cries of friends and foes when they all sound the same.
I want me a damn Scottish accent on my character!
I'm concerned it will get harder to identify the voices as enemy or allied. They're already very similar. Unless only certain factions get certain voices.
I'm concerned it will get harder to identify the voices as enemy or allied. They're already very similar. Unless only certain factions get certain voices.
I really doubt they will make VO packs universally available since factions like the VS having a russian accent or drill sergent would make zero sense and make things really stupid sounding.
I personally have no problem distinguishing the current voices as they are significantly different in my opinion. TR: Nasally adult, NC: 90s teenager, VS: 50s spaceman hero.
Jesus fucking christ, there are so many infiltrators after this update. Set up a turret? Slammed with crossbows. Defend a point? Charged by pistol toting bastards. There's just soooo many.
Now is a REALLY good time to use the scout rifles in case anyone was wondering. Wiped out an entire hillside of 12 VS engineers/infiltrators/heavies with my scout rifle and crossbow.
[editline]15th February 2014[/editline]
So how do people use the C75 Viper? I've attempted to use it on multiple occasions and have been totally unsuccessful every time. I took it to the VR training room and used stuff like max magnifacation to see if I could use it more like an artillery unit but nope, the velocity and drop are terrible and the recoil is too high. Even the damage values seem to make it really hard to use at any sort of range. 400 damage for a direct hit, and 600 damage if I land it like almost directly at their feet? What the shit?
All of that is also really hard to do because the explosions for each shell are fucking MASSIVE even though the damage radius is actually very small, so you end up blinding yourself with your own explosions most of the time as you track a target.
I feel like I'm doing something wrong somehow.
Yeah I just tested it again in the VR room. You need to land it pretty much at their feet to do splash damage (600) and direct hit damage is only 400. I think the blast radius is only like 1.5m? Anything outside that range does nothing and the explosion will totally consume them anyway with no effect whatsoever other than to obscure them.
Either they need to bump up the splash radius, or they need to make the size explosion actually reflect the damage and radius values. Given that the explosion looks to be maybe only slightly smaller than a MBT HEAT blast, I think they should definitely reduce the explosion size.
And increase the velocity from a shit 200m/s to maybe something like 300-350. It's really silly that a vehicle cannon has a drastically slower velocity than a shotgun slug. Make it more like an autocannon and not some stupid point blank spammy shitbox.

Time to bring out the LMG then.
