It sounds it, although now I'm definitely concerned about my PC. -12GB RAM -i7 4700 @ 2.4GHz -Nvidia GT 750M There must be some reason I'm having random drops in my FPS.
PS2 is pretty badly optimized. Running a GTX 760, i7 4770k @ 3.4ghz, and 16RAM, I usually stay at 60 FPS, but on Hossin my framerate goes well below 40 unless I turn off shadows. The lighting effects can also tank even a top-end PC, if it's at night.
What's up with Vanu on the Emerald server? It seems no matter where you go, everyone's getting their asses handed to them. 2 continents on lock, and domination on the others.

TR are just hopelessly incompetent and only united by their hatred of AOD and the VS. VS are also padded out with the tryhard infantry outfits like DA, whereas the NC tryhard outfits (PREY, QRY) are useless airchavs.
I'd rather be like Emrald NC with incompetent outfits and large numbers than Emrald TR with incompetent outfits and like a perpetual 28% pop. tbh
The TR and NC seem to pull through and outpop in the alerts, though. But the VS are the most organized, and the TR/NC are full of too many tryhard outfits and people who do nothing but whine when they start losing, rather than try to reverse it.
AOD Master-Race reporting for duty. I ask again what problem everyone has with them. (Also, I swear every time TR wins an alert all we get from it is a continent-reset. What gives.)
Is VS really the most organised? I play on Briggs as TR and used to play as NC and would love a decent organised outfit. I really don't want teammates running around in spandex with rainbow clan tags.

I find it incredibly infuriating that nobody on Emerald TR knows how to destroy deployables, they'd all be having their asses fucked six ways from Tuesday because nobody thought to shoot the motion spotter at their feet that is highlighted red on the HUD and minimap at all times
I usually prioritize destroying those over killing people.
You're one in a million then, I doubt a lot of people even realize you can shoot sensor darts, and then there's all those times NC completely buttfuck us when they drop a load of guys on the roofs of a base and nobody realizes we're losing fucking hard because nobody is taking the 12 seconds to go LA and shoot some of their spawn beacons

I've noticed that NC players (at least on Emerald) never look up. I don't know how many times I've just sat up in a tree near a large group of them and just pick them off until I run out of ammo.
Dukov and I work in a squad, so we have probably the best idea of what's going on in the battlefield between him as a jumper and myself as recon (Although I often switch classes depending on what's going on). He sets up beacons and I spot things going on, occasionally jumping in if it helps. Most of the time, I notice TR is dumb as bricks not spotting that there's an entire battalion flanking us at times, or not trying to set up sunderers, or not trying to take out the armoured vehicles that will drive by. It's a severe lack of adapting to the situation.

[editline]9th September 2014[/editline]
He meant on that server, not in general.
And by most organized, I mean they actually wanna take part in the continent lock alerts. [editline]9th September 2014[/editline] I've honestly been playing with the idea of starting up my own outfit as a sort of rapid redeploy group. Because whenever I do platoon lead, that's what I normally do is take a place, look on the map, if continuing forward is the best option, do it. If we have to move somewhere else, we will.

I'm NC and I do the same thing all the time.
Nah, that's a universal thing. I'm NC and I do the same thing all the time.
To be honest, having played LA a lot recently, every faction has those idiots.
That's a bad idea imo; For that reason at least. Regarding the fact that there's absolutely no penalty for dying or respawning somewhere else right now, a major overhaul is coming that'll completely change the fundamentals of those mechanics and when they're finished people aren't gonna be able to just fuck off and redeploy to wherever they like every 2 minutes among some other needed changes. They're finally looking to bring some of Planetside 1 back into Planetside 2 (because that actually makes some damn sense). People also aren't gonna be able to pull kamikaze attacks with ESFs out of their asses anymore. It's going to take months knowing SOE, but you have to think longterm.
True, I'm just getting so fed up of all the infighting.
Is everyone playing on Emerald now? I'm playing as NC on connery and I'm doing OK on it.
Hey, so I've looked into this game a bit and am interested in trying it out. Are there any general tips for new players I should be aware of?
Hey, so I've looked into this game a bit and am interested in trying it out. Are there any general tips for new players I should be aware of?
You will die. A lot. Personally, I'd say stick with Engineer/Medic a while once you start out, as they tend to be a good way to learn through observation while supporting the team + they provide good certs through ammo/resses to start out. Get familiar with using the map/redeploy function. Joining an outfit is recommended but obviously not required, and it's a bit hit-n-miss with how they treat new players. Look around a bit, try to avoid random outfit invites.
Hey, so I've looked into this game a bit and am interested in trying it out. Air to air fights are probably the worst place for new players to be with the very different flight mechanics from most games. If you use a vehicle. make sure to get the first level of zoom and ammo for the secondary guns. They cost 1 cert each, and you are infinitely more likely to get a gunner with them than without them. [editline]9th September 2014[/editline] In general, stick to engineer medic or heavy assault at first. They tend to be a little easier for new players. To be a decent infiltrator takes time and certs for a decent loadout, and light assaults need a decent idea of the map because of their lighter armament.
Also if you want to be useful as a medic, get the Shield Generator instead of the default skill. You can deploy it almost anywhere, you have an infinity of the thing and it has basically no cooldown. Gives a lot of XP if people fight inside too. [editline]9th September 2014[/editline] Also to revive someone, now it's right click. To heal, it's left click (all with the healgun of course)
yeah the shield thingy is really good. Also, how does one get the auraxium weapons? for example the medic gun. Does it unlock along with the armor in the last tier?

Everyone says it gives loads of xp but it gives me like 30 xp per 3 minutes or something. I never actually get any rewards from restoring shields with it.

The shield bubbles restores shields pretty slowly, so to get good XP you need it in a high-traffic, highly contested area. Corners and doorways (especially protected or shielded doorways) tend to be best. They also do not stack with other medics' shield bubbles, so don't try to overlap, you'll just lose out on XP (unless you need to cover more of a area). Also keep in mind that the enemy can destroy them, so try to put them in spots that are a little more hidden or less likely to be caught in cross-fire (not that many people aim at the ground anyways).

Might need a lot of jumping in and out, but it's worth it. Playing alone is frustrating.
