So considering they are going to be adding deployable automated turrets for the engineer and this is going to be the first AI in the game what do you guys think about this? For those that didn't know about this they are intended to hit the game end of this month or beginning of next month (not test servers main game) and it will take the slot you would normally have the anti person or anti vehicle turret.
Currently the turrets are to be more of an early warning system/distraction and small help for the engineer as they don't deal much damage. This is because in big base fights people will be shoving these all over the base for defense or offence if you are taking and holding a point in the enemy base on your own.
I personally play the engineer class most and find my team mates unable to stay alive during the capture of a base so these turrets will help me out with covering my back on the multiple entrances or stairs. This is also why I tend to run with the implant that gives you health as my team mates tend to die defending and I have no medic to heal me during the time between enemy defenders respawning and come back. I can see the problem for things like bio-labs where they are spammed everywhere but that is supposedly why their damage is so small. I don't know how hard they are to kill.
They've been looking into adding AI in for a while. For a lot of reasons, too. Like doors, NPC (escort-type) missions, and server-wide alliance vs. powerful AI events.
The turrets sound like an attempt at stress-testing themselves, with the added benefit of a small in-game change. I don't really think they'll do anything useful for a long time, until they inevitably add a devastating AV variant and mildly damaging AA variant.

So it is the second year anniversary today and that means we have double XP for a few days. This also means there is a stream and they are holding live cameras to devs and asking them to show stuff off. They showed off the first look at the new auto turret model. The model appears to take the colour of the faction.

There has been no mention of it if you can sadly to say. Also although their damage and health is not final they do die easily right now and their damage is minimal so an infiltrator should have no trouble just getting up close and knifing it if you can't hack it.
Going to be the first tecknical beta for PS4 in December for those interested.

Also these NS guns are actually pretty fucking good I would advise using them if you are accurate enough. I was able to get a decent amount of kills in a somewhat short period of time. This was outdoors at medium range so no not just indoor shotgun blasting. The Baron was using a 4x sight with a laser sight and slugs. The 15M was using a 4x sight with a compensator and soft point ammunition.

Just gonna chime in and say how I dislike the idea of NS weapons...
not that they are bad mechanically but the fact that there is a large proportion of weapons that have no faction identity...
I know it's just an aesthetic thing but when the lore reads something to the tune of "Experimental gauss weaponry" and "Cutting edge plasma guns" I want to see more weapons that make me feel like I'm in the future, the NC should have weapons that sound and feel like you've just sent a few thousand newtons of "Get fucked" though the other guy's head. the VS should have guns that feel like it's probably just as good at calculus as you are. and the TR weapons should sound like an angry bullet spewing chainsaw.

I think time would be better invested in making NS weapons for everybody, and then a very few faction weapons.
What we have now is "faction weapons" that fill in every role we want. CQC carbines for each faction, ranged ones, battle rifle, SMGs; everything is remade three times for no real reason. We only need faction variants for a few weapons, the general arsenal could easily be be NS.
Most of the weapons in the game feel like nothing more than simple reskins with slight slight slight stat changes of others.
I agree. So why even make the effort to have the simple reskins. I mean, it's kinda nice, but I don't think it's worth the investment.

It's just bland... if we're going to go there then why not go the whole fucking hog and jsut have blue team, red team, green team and have everyone be the same generic grunt "Hoo-Rah 'murrica!" soldier.
If anything I say YES, even if two guns are identical we SHOULD have them cosmetically different. It adds Flavour, it ass character it makes the game feel more alive.
And then there's the benefit of being able to gage a fight based on the noises of battle. You hear a "pew-Pew" then the VS be that way, a "Ping-Ping" then thar be the NC, and a "Dakka-Dakka" then then a tr soldier is not far away.
Go play battlefield if you want everyone to have the same generic assault rifle.
I don't want everybody to have generic assault rifles. The current weapons ARE generic assault rifles. I can't identify any of the carbines from each other, at least.
My only real problem with the weapons is that they're just built up from a selection of individual parts instead of having unique models each. You don't get any differences like those between an AK and an AR-15 for instance, which is what leads to most of them being very similar.

So people know that is an island for noobs to play their first couple of levels before joining the main fight.
It's meant for PS4 people so they can play while the rest of the maps still download or something.
It'll apparently be implemented on PC aswell, but too bad it's not a battle island, I'd love for the intercontinental lattice system to be implemented.

Yeah they will. The whole point of stuff like the resource revamp and continent locking was to lay a foundation for it. It won't be any time soon, but it'll come eventually.
Wait so i got some email from ps2 something about anniversary and free camo, but i have no idea how to get that camo because the email didnt have any code in it or anything.
I can't wait for battle islands to be a thing on the PC. Those will almost definitely be my favorite kinds of fights.
