Hey guys, what's the general opinion of Cobalt? I got fucking fed up with TR on Woodman, but don't want to ruin balance on the server any more than it already is, so I want to create an NC toon somewhere. I checked server pops and Cobalt showed "high", so is it any good there? Weird shit regarding connection still messes me up, becomes very irritating. I'm yet to win a single 1x1 since the problem started, it feels like everyone but me moves and strafes at incredible speeds. So maybe changing server will help me out on that too.
There's lots of NC on cobalt, they're our #1 foe, I probably fight them double as much as I fight vanu
There's lots of NC on cobalt, they're our #1 foe, I probably fight them double as much as I fight vanu
Ohhh no don't tell me it's overpopulated with NC... I want to join some faction that isn't TR and not VS. Why does it have to be NC, the most overpopulated faction everywhere, where's justice in that.
Stop playing as NC. Problem solved
Yaaay, I stopped playing TR on Woodman for a time only to not play as NC. Fun times! Shit, seriously, I don't want to join stupid sexy folks. I only like blue and red, not purple/teal.
I can't play on Miller anymore, the only continent I can play on with a reliable FPS is Esamir and that's just a constant TR zerg. Fucking 50-75% constantly, all the fun is just sucked from the game.

I pressed V6 and the taunt just so happened to be "You are FOOLISH to resist!" He paused for a second... and THEN pulled out his pistol and killed me. NC players have no sense of humour.
Can someone tell me how the fuck you're supposed to stay alive in the air? Whatever I do, I get taken out in max 1 minute of spawning my Reaver.

Also bind Pitch Up and Pitch down to those little clicky things on the side of most mouses.

If you see that they get their shit blown out of the sky you'll know to avoid that area and maybe even be able to determine where the AA was coming from. Also try to keep track of where cliffs and mountains and things are because you'll definitely be needing those to duck behind every so often.
Also bind Pitch Up and Pitch down to those little clicky things on the side of most mouses.
Wha? Who actually does that?
Wha? Who actually does that?
it's very useful for tight maneuvers.
Wha? Who actually does that?
I don't mean the buttons ontop of the mouse, I mean those page back and page forward buttons. It's easier to remember to hold pitch down for a second while doing the reverse manuever, instead of remembering to pull your mouse half a inch.
Wha? Who actually does that?
Mouse 4 and 5, every cool pilot does that

I didn't realise that was a thing.
Can someone tell me how the fuck you're supposed to stay alive in the air? Whatever I do, I get taken out in max 1 minute of spawning my Reaver.
Keep track of enemy and friendly positions. If you are unsure of where the enemy is, approach slowly and look around you: most maxes will open fire on you the moment they see you, that means at long range, where it's impossible to reliably land hits on you. Once you confirm an enemy position, stay at low altitude and use mountains and hills to flank and attack from behind or the sides without being seen. If another ESF is pursuing you and you're not confident enough about the situation/your dogfighting skills, retreat to a position where allies can either shoot down or scare away your attacker. Because of this, never go too far from your allies. Overextending will kill you, even when flying. Do not, ever, try to take down a burster max on your own unless you know he's already wounded. It will just make them focus on you and smash you into bits. USE THE VERTICAL THRUSTERS. Something a lot of pilots overlook and the reason why the hover chassis is so underrated, vertical thrusters are the only real way to dodge AA fire: once you're being fired at, hit both your vertical thrusters and afterburner while tilting left and right. It makes it almost impossible for AA to lead their shots.
I need help choosing a new gun for my Engineer. I normally use my Hailstorm but I am now finding myself fighting at longer ranges and need a gun more suited to mid-long ranges for this class. I have found from the VR room that the T5 AMC using ACS [4x], compensator, Advanced forward grip and high velocity ammunition seem to be a good match. And I found the AMR-66 using ACS [4x], Compensator, forward grip and hight velocity ammunition also seems to be good for range. Although I am unsure how effective this gun would be against moving targets. But then saying that I found using recon was piss easy before I started playing close range. Tell me what one you think is the best choice or if I should go for something else. -------------- I doubt this would be all that practical but the FA1 Barrage using ACS [4x], Forward grip and Slug ammunition worked well. But I really have my doubts about a shotgun for using at range. And note for close range I tend to use my Underboss so the primary's effectiveness at close range is not massively important.
Can someone tell me how the fuck you're supposed to stay alive in the air? Whatever I do, I get taken out in max 1 minute of spawning my Reaver.
Usually when I have AA start shooting at me, I tend to start doing as much rolls and spins as I can. Most the time it works, the other times, it's the trees that get me. Though, I play as TR, and the hellfire are weak shit, so I rarely engage ground vehicles, unless it's a light vehicle or unarmed sunderer. I probably should swap from dog fighter to hover frame. I can see having hover being a bit more effective for my aerial comabt style.
I found dog fighting airframe to be great, it also buffs your turning right and left which makes it easier to bombard lousy infantry that ties to run from their doom
Wha? Who actually does that?
I do that.
Thought I would re post this as it was right near the end of the last page and I did not get a reply. Although I wouldn't be surprised if I don't get a reply as it is probably not the most common set up for an engineer.
I need help choosing a new gun for my Engineer. trac-5s with smoke launcher, then you'll smoke grenades erry day.
trac-5s with smoke launcher, then you'll smoke grenades erry day.
I did consider this as an option but I more end up needing to get rounds out at distance than popping smoke for cover so I decided against it.
I doubt this would be all that practical but the FA1 Barrage using ACS [4x], Forward grip and Slug ammunition worked well. But I really have my doubts about a shotgun for using at range.
Slug ammunition is terrible - a mere 100 cert investment to make your gun useless. Don't bother with it. The slugs will fly anywhere in the huge radial crosshair when hip firing (and AFAIK will do the same even when using the sights), and the projectile speed is hilariously slow. Use the T5 AMC. It's probably the best medium/long range carbine in the game - I haven't touched my TRAC since I picked up the AMC a few months ago.
In general, if you're using slugs you'd probably be better using a ranged weapon. The down sight accuracy is actually very good, but it's still harder to hit things than with a rapid fire rifle. [editline]13th May 2013[/editline] And as added incentive for you to get the smoke launcher, the grenade itself is a damaging projectile that deals 3/4 damage to people. It's really fun to get hits with it, when it happens.
Was going around Esamir earlier repairing generators to get my daily ribbon bonuses, and while I was repairing at Nott, I ran into a TR infil trying to farm the gens. I managed to get 10 kills on the guy simply by putting a bouncing betty on each of the shield generators. But every time it was the same generator. 10 times. 10 fucking times this guy charged straight into the same hut, through the same door without any caution whatsoever, died to a mine placed in the same spot, then came back expecting a different result. Eventually there were no enemies detected, so I moved on to Mani. 5 minutes later, another kill on the same guy. Share your stories about encounters with stupid enemies.

Not only did the max run in but also the Engineer and a couple of heavys. Also Enemies have this habit of running into doors where bright glowing balls of disco death are clearly slamming into the floor right in front of them. Yet still they run in, dance the dance of their people and die.
God damn gunship galaxy is fun, though not that effective :v: was gunning an outfit mates galaxy, took out a good number of tanks with it(We were using it for transport so me and the pilot thought we'd have some fun)

Those things can wreck your shit real fast if there is no dedicated AA to shoot it down
Am I the only one that feels slightly cheated with the purchase of the Rebel pistol for the NC guns? It's a extremely slow, 8 bullet pistol that's outgunned by the common pool revolver 'Commissioner' that fires faster and does about 200 more damage.
Don't worry, Higby will hook you up with some overpowered hand-cannon in no time
