It would be nice to be able to have an option to change the weapon FOV.
It would be nice to be able to have an option to change the weapon FOV.
There is an FOV slider in the options menu under graphics (74 Vertical FOV = 90 Horizontal FOV supposedly), unless that isn't what you are talking about.
Do they usually slip in the cosmetics in GU updates or just any update? I'm really itching to get my hands on the apparently open face helmets.
There is an FOV slider in the options menu under graphics (74 Vertical FOV = 90 Horizontal FOV supposedly), unless that isn't what you are talking about.
Weapon FOV only affects the view model of the gun. Higher weapon FOV = the further the gun is away from your guys face.

Excuse me but do you have a moment for me to talk to you about the vanu sovereignty
Does direct hits from tank cannons count as explosives too?
Direct hits ignore flak armour.
Lame.
Lame.
How so? You're getting hit by a 150 or 180mm shell travelling at almost a kilometer a second.
Explosive-resistant armor isn't going to do much when the shell goes through that armor first
I was thinking more from a gameplay perspective when most things needs to direct hit you anyways to hurt you real good and it doesn't affect that. I could understand it resisting less vs direct hits since a flat out 50% is really strong, but it should do something.
Why?
So since I had 2k certs left on my vanu scum alt I bought the lasher and the lancer. I really love the lancer, the satisfaction when you snipe a mosquito that just afterburned away in fear and have him explode is amazing. The lasher is more situational, it's great whenever you get the height advantage or if they're massing in groups, but it's very bad at no elevating long ranges. Also in very close quarters you'll hurt yourself from the splash which is annoying. It took some time getting used to this but in the end I'm doing great with it too.
So now that I've successfully accumulated 1k certs on my Cobalt-NC character (mostly by killing dudes, as it's next to impossible to do medic job when the lag is so fucking insane people only really die 5 secs after you got the kill message), I think I can safely say that all claims about "huge recoil" are completely false on everything but SAW (which can be improved by pumping certs into it). Cone of fire is next to non-existent unless you plan on full-auto-ing the entire mag. The only thing I acquired yet is a 4x scope for the Gauss assault rifle, and pretty much it doesn't need anything else, ideal weapon for mid range. This is a striking contrast with my experience as a TR (my main toon), where insane CoF on most weapons just sends bullets all over the place, and recently added horizontal recoil doesn't help one bit. I'd take NC's "huge vertical recoil" over stuff you can't really compensate for any day of the week.

You can try to run but they won't miss" faction guns, which is everything NOT TR.
Is this just a problem for TR the NC being over powered? Haven't played too much Vanu myself apart from messing around with vehicles.

At mid-long ranges I now normally win my fights thanks to this gun. ----- Before you would hold the trigger and a ton of bullets would fly past them but the T5 AMC actually hits like 95% to all the bullets on target. Best time I felt proud of the gun was when I was taking fire and the enemy had a huge hight advantage as he was on one of those big hills overlooking me. I was easily able to burst 5-10 shots at a time hitting him and taking him down with ease. And everybody that took his place. (Indar)

[editline]14th May 2013[/editline] I am surprised to find it is 250 certs, so I shall invest in it.

I've killed plenty of enemies on 1v1 situations in sub-optimal ranges by actually burst firing and getting the most bullets on the enemy. There's even some high damage medium recoil guns on the TR side like the SABR-13 and the TMG-50 if you prefer hitting hard rather than fast.

I cannot tell you how many fucking times I've been triple headshotted by a VS LMG or NC SAW. It's just so goddamn obnoxious to have the weakest damaging weapons with the worst and most difficult to control recoil.

For example, burst firing doesn't help Carv one bit, it's unnecessarily hard to use for anything beyond close-to-mid, where it's outgunned by everything. I know Carv-S improves the situation, but hell, it's a joke to pay money for a "fixed" version of the original gun. As for SABR-13, TMG-50 and, to an extent, T32 Bull, I simply don't like these weapons. TMG feels awkward, SABR is way too limiting, Bull just has a shitty name.
My internet went down 2 minutes before my faction won an alert by 60%, fuckin mediacom.
How to control NC and VS recoil: Pull down mouse How to control TR recoil: ???
I'm getting real fuckin' sick of the devs favouring the NC.
I don't really know about this, maybe I'm in denial but I don't think they'e intentionally making NC stronger. In the start they had a fuckton of bugs and weird shit, like their reaver handling or whatever there were shitstorms about. Also have they buffed their rifles since? Everyone were bitching on how incredibly strong the recoil were on their stuff, now nobody even mentions it. I'll try out some more VS weapons since I'm still partying hard with the lancer.
How to control NC and VS recoil: Pull down mouse How to control TR recoil: ???
Exactly. I personally don't mind vertical recoil at all. I can even live with combination of vertical-horizontal (pulls the gun somewhat diagonally up and to the side) as long as it's cosistent. But the thing is, it's not the case with most of the TR "branded" guns (ones which follow the TR faction trait, high RoF/larger mag), because it's either inconsistent recoil or it's consistent recoil + idiotic cone of fire from the very first shot, I can't stress enough how Carv sucks dicks.
I kind of adore using the TRAC-5 with iron sights though, something about the feel of it I just love
oh my god medic with C4 is incredible, nobody expects it so they don't back away, hell a scatmax tried to melee me since i'm a medic and couldn't possibly kill him.
How to control NC and VS recoil: Pull down mouse How to control TR recoil: ???
VS Recoil??? also if the NC are hyper overpowered feel free to make NC characters on Miller because we win all the time due to how massively overpowered we are (protip we don't)
