I haven't played this game in a long time but isn't ghost capping a very slow method of getting certs? I seem to get 100's of certs quickly from the big battles
maybe they don't want to risk their super-elite mlg-standard k/d ratios
Wait how is ghost capping possible again? Now there's nothing to do but roll with the zerg, and that kind of sucks if you are an organized small outfit because there is zero way to actually influence the fight except add to the stalemate bodycount
Ghost capping isn't dead. You can cap "hexes" that are adjacent to you own "hex". Yeah, you can't advance any further than that, but there're pleanty of adjacency when you have a stable front line. If you cap this "hex", it becomes sort of "cut off" - it's in deep color, provide no resources, provide no adjacency by themselves. BUT, the thing is, they also give no resources to your enemy. You can't form a deep cut into enemy territory, yes, but you can very well clear the main forces' flanks. About "nothing to do" - I strongly disagree with this statement. Zergs are very often disorganised, even organised platoons become... confused. Your small organised squad can capture and hold outposts that surround big facilities, blow up and defend (which is very important) generators, without participating in main clusterfuck, do what I described above. There're plenty of stuff to do, really. The only thing that has been removed, is the ability to form a deep cut into enemy flanks on the edges of the map. Saying that, since you're no longer able to do that with a squad (that you will further divide into two groups, four groups etc.), small organised outfits are useless - you're kidding yourself. Being able to ghost cap (and meeting enemy ghost cappers - well... it's more of an exception) your way deep into enemy territory, quite frankly is bullshit. Game is about big numbers, big battles. Big forces. Zergs are only then zergs when they're disorganised and incapable of multitasking. When your zerg consists of one big outfit's two platoons and two small outfits' squads - it's not a zerg, it's organised attack force. The fact that it happens so rarely - problem with players, not the game. [editline]23rd May 2013[/editline] And they still haven't fucking fixed the disconnecting/server crashing issue. Get your shit together SOE.
We like to cap We like -- We like to ghost cap I've got something to tell you I've got orders for you Gonna put some wheels in motion Get ready 'cause the tanks are coming through Hey now, hey now, hear what I say now! The waypoint is just around the corner Hey now, hey now, hear what I say now! The Beacon will be there for you. The Sundybus is coming And everybody's jumping New Conglomerate to Terran Republic An interplanetary disco The wheels of steel are turning The Vanu tanks are burning If you like to party, get on the battlefield and move your body! Somebody really needs to make this a parody.
What's the deal with god-rays? I just noticed that I never get them in game even though I've got all settings on high. Is there something I'm missing?
Probably Fog Shadows, the FPS hit is pretty big though.

I tried it on test shortly before GU9 went live and I could no longer cap via hex adjacency.
Oh, I'm pretty sure they fixed that. It still works, and I think it's a pretty nice mix.
Probably Fog Shadows, the FPS hit is pretty big though.
I have those on too though.
Nope, we capped TI alloys that had only adjacency (and "lane" from the Crown, but it was cut off) yesterday. Seems even though the Crown was cut off you were still able to cap from it.
Well I just tried capping East Canyon with only hex adjacency, no lattice link. Didn't work. Our "lane" to Crown was cut by NC and yet it still worked further? What's the fucking point then.
Some useful info
did some testing in VR, might not be accurate, just a reference method of testing : set a way point and walk towards it, every time it ticks = speed per second (assumption) as of 22nd of may the speed of max is as mentioned below Without ZOE Max Walk Speed : 2.0~2.3 per second Max Sprint Speed : 4~4.5 per second (gradually increase to full speed within 1 second) Max Side Strafe Speed : 1.8~ per second Max Backward Speed: 1.4~1.6 per second With ZOE Max Walk Speed : 4.3+ per second Max Sprint Speed : 4.7+ per second (gradually increase to full speed within 1 second) Max Side Strafe Speed : 3.4 per second (not factoring ADAD as i cant observe momentum) Max Backward Speed: 3.4 per second Side Note Light assault Infantry Walk Speed: 3.2 + per second Infantry Walk Speed (With adrenaline pump): 3.2+ per second Infantry Sprint Speed : 5.0 per second Infantry Sprint Speed (With adrenaline pump): 5.5 ~6.0 per second Infantry Side Strafe Speed: 2.2+ per second Infantry Backward Speed: 3.0 per second Infantry with Drifter Jetpack (Forward) : 6.0+ per second Infantry with Drifter Jetpack (Sideward) : 2.0+ per second Infantry with Drifter Jetpack (Backward) : 3.0+ per second Magrider gliding at 50kph towards way point : 10 per second Conclusion Effective HP against small arms fire : 8000 hp with no regenerative shield DPS increment : 20~25% Movement Speed Increment : 100% for walking, backward and side strafing, 5% for sprinting. (or they did not touch it at all) ZOE max is like 1.5x Heavy Assault with 2 slow firing LMG in hand, not fascinating nor impressive in any sense, but then with all the light show ZOE max will bring me in the night, i think i'll buy that. Lol there are actually people on the official forums that think having more strategic options (like optional objectives and stuff that don't relate to lattice directly, like in PS1) is bad because the only reason you should play planetside 2 anyways is to be in a constant massive battle (with no air at all, of course, because who wants to deal with the slight inconvenience of something countering you?) and if you don't want to do that then play another game because whats the point in variety and strategy if wars of attrition and stalemates are the coolest? I always regret posting there after each update gets released. There are way too many dumbasses and meat-sacks posting there

I'm there all the time, it's hilarious

Even the PS2 team hates the PS2 forums.
I'm there all the time, it's hilarious
I tried suggesting things for a Light Assault BR, where I explicitly stated that the stats were a baseline that could be tweaked and talked about to make a unique weapon. I wanted to see if posing a hypothetical weapon idea to the masses could hold water and that a reasonably intelligent discussion could spring up. Note: I made it as clear as I could as to my intentions for the stats I sketched out for it were the point of discussion. I said so in big bold, red text in both the beginning and end of my post. Yet somehow none of them made a single useful or helpful statement. This demonstrated to me that they either lack the capacity to not just bitch insessently about things, and that they are the least creative group of people I know the existence of. Sure, they can talk about big, sweeping, massive changes like interconnected continents or space combat or other inane shit that is either A) flat out impossible, or B) not capable of being implemented for the next 5 years at least. And forget talking about shotguns or weapon balance over there in any way shape or form. Instant reactionary bullshit where they either plug their ears and say *shotguns? lalalallalal can't hear you!!*, or either turn your question/statement into a whinefest, or condemn you for 'not playing good enough'. It just causes waaaaay too much tension and teeth grinding for me.
Eh it's a free to play game, community is always shit.
The PS1 forums were worse imo. There is nothing quite as bad as bittervet neckbeards stewing in a forum circlejerk.
The PS1 forums where worse imo. There is nothing quite as bad as bittervet neckbeards stewing in a forum circlejerk.
Why did that make me think of the dwarf fortress forums?
Idk dwarf fortress forum is a just a circlejerk of people showing off their devastated forts and simulated computers running in the game. All in all though the PS2 forums aren't that bad. They could definitely be worse.
Never ever go on official SOE forums. The old PS1 ones actually made me want to die a little bit.
Forumside 1 was awesome, Forumside 2 is just a bunch of bittervets and Battlefield/CoD rejects
Forumside 1 was awesome, Forumside 2 is just a bunch of bittervets and Battlefield/CoD rejects
It was quite fun seeing a huge thread in my honour on why the FV BFRs were still a problem post nerf. "Omg nodachifp all you do is jump over facility walls and gank armour all day" despite the fact it was pretty much just a jumping lighting the size of a barn.
The female NC voice sounds like one of the devs brought in their 13 year old daughter to be the voice actor, and told her to play let's pretend.
what 13 year old plays let's pretend do you really hate kids or something
what 13 year old plays let's pretend do you really hate kids or something
Well he's not really wrong, the NC female sounds really young.

The MG/cannon combo was the best. It was an ugly little shit, but man it would chew people up. It was balanced though. *gasp* I know, a tank with a coaxial MG that is balanced, something that seems to be beyond the PS2 devs.
Ugly? Old lightning looked way better than the one we have now.
