Scarred Mesa on Mattherson = the last level of planetside 2, somebody is playing air sirens while 20 galaxies flew overhead, thousands of scat maxs, shields up rushing the jumppad, shit's intense.
EDIT: ahaha we beat PS2, they have to restart the server, credits are going to roll etc.
The Enclave pulled over one hundred gals in the Indar TR warpgate which crashed the entire zone, forcing a server restart as any players spawning would crash within seconds.

You know, it would be interesting if you could have a temporary base commander.
It would cost 1000 certs, and would require that you currently be in command of a platoon with at least two full squads worth of men (Can have three or four partial squads provided it still comes out to at least two squads worth total) It would allow you access to a command terminal in a fortified section of the base which would provide access to a UI with all of the additional commands.
Stuff might include:
-Air raid sirens: Yeah they can totally be abused, but that is why the position is restricted to only platoon leaders. They are damn atmospheric.
-Alert status: Lights around the base would change from green to yellow to red depending on the setting. On the map all players would see a border around the section with a color indicating current alert status.
-Friendly unit strength: A precise count of all friendly units in the region and their locations with the ability to click on a unit and send a message to it, its squad, or its platoon. Plus hex wide announcements.
-Base power management: Divert power from the spawn rooms, thus slowing down respawn speed, in return for automating several base turrets *or* slowly repairing all hardware in the base. (Bonus points for the spawn room switching over to emergency lighting as a result)
And I'm sure some other crap. Not enough opportunities for platoon leaders to really command.

We had a battle like that on Cobalt some time ago. We (NC) were pushing to break the stalemate at VS borders to break their lock over Indar. Then our outfit leaders made a truce with local TR groups that were nearby (because apparently, some TR outfits still tried to bit NC territory off from the north), everything came in motion (seriously, I've never been so happy to see the enemy when TR cavalry came to rescue our platoon from being spawn camped over Ayani Labs).
Than we pushed, pushed, pused and came to a stalemate from Leopardwood (NC) over Highlands sub. Meanwhile, TR came to a stalemate at Ceres biotech.
And then... simply impossible. 34% VS pop crumped into two stations, with large forces attacking them, Highlands also being laid out kind of unfairly, cap-point being in small enclosed area right BEHIND the enemy spawn room from attackers' prespective, impossible to take.
Also, server began to melt. Unexlopded grenades everywhere, engineers and medics tools not working, ammo not resupplying, horrible render inconsitencies, hitreg going crazy.
So I can kind of see why Mattherson TR is being bitter (they cry on official forums), you can not cap something when entire enemy pop is cramped into a single base.

It seems that the new vortex values that were on the test server were not bugs, but in fact pretty extreme nerfs against infantry.

PS1 is pretty great, Infiltrator is a lot more tense when you go down much, much quicker than anyone else

It is literally the best sniper rifle in the game.
