Planetside 2 V6 - VS capped Indar? It's more likely than you think
The game is woefully unoptimized. Just turn the settings low.
There seems to be such a big change in fps I get in the open and in buildings. Would this be considered to be due to bad optimization? I can be in a pretty intense open field battle and be fine, but If Im just walking in a structure it drops to about 25 fps.
I think GPU particles are broken again, before the last patch everything was running fine with them on, now with the particles on, if i try to use the medigun my fps drops to like 4
What is you normal frame rate?
In a large fight about 34fps, when everything is relaxed like 50 or so.

I think there's some setting to turn off extra physx options that would kill your fps indoors if it's on.

Good god! I haven't played since the MAX abilities, and didn't know what exactly the ZOE did. How did anybody think giving all that speed to a MAX was a good idea? And it stays on forever, and is able to turn off when you want? It's almost always better than charge from what it seems.

Hey what separates the Marauder from the Fury?
I watched that ZOE video for a minute and a half and have already concluded its bullshit.
Do you get any kind of debuff from it?
It's a bonus percentage to damage done to you, another bonus to damage you deal, and then that absurd bonus speed.

Damage and Magizine size.
Nothing like coming back after 4 months to a slideshow.
would putting the planetside 2 process on realtime priority help with my CPU hog or will it just fuck over my pc to no end as it freezes everything up?

The EXACT mechanics are a little Hazy but it roughly equates to the max taking 1/5 extra damage from everything, not jsut small arms and dealing enough damage so that the VS AI weapons take 5 bullets to kill someone as opposed to 4.
As a Result you can do some Serious damage to a ZOE max inside of a single clip of ammunition.
Oh and sniping, Dear god Sniping a ZOE MAX is pretty scary stuff, you'd swear you just shot them with a rocket launcher.
To deal with ZOE MAX'S here's a few things I have found to be particularly effective.
-C4 Bait trap. ZOE MAX units take on a new mentality that is somewhere between Kamikaze death trooper and BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD! They will peruse you into a room, not giving a second though about if it's a trap or not. For best results place the C4 before getting his attention.
-Light Assaults, The VS max Weapons are pretty inaccurate and even if you ARE using the accuracy buffed ones they struggle to hit a moving target. A Light assult can merrily dance above a MAX'S head and only take a relativly small amount of hits while landing several headshots due to being above them. Abuse the fact that he can only look up 90 Degrees in relation to the floor and no further than that.
-Get in his Grill with a scatmax. The Scatmax was already pretty powerful VS other MAX's up close, now the ZOE MAX takes extra damage from your giant cannons of overcompensation. You'll feel like your running around in the pre-nerf Scatmax's once more. Consider using Dash instead of shield to close the gap.
-Sniping. Is actually effective against a ZoE max.
-Buddies, A group of three people all firing at the max at once will bring him down very quickly if he lacks backup. Consider bringing a max of your own to the fight. HA + Normal max will usually win against HA + ZOE MAX.
-Concussion grenades. The max will have it's vision impared but most importantly will still move slowly and cannot turn round fast enough to deal with threats behind him. I also think that while Conc'd(Not sure, needs confirmation) he cannot turn ZOE off so rip his sorry backside a new one while he takes bonus damage at no benefit to him.
Mostly Regular antimax tactics work but the situation now resolves itself much faster. Either you will kill him quickly or he will kill you quickly. As a ZoE user myself I can tell you that yes the ZOE is powerful but you can exploit a few princaples that most ZOE users seem to follow.
First we think we are now Invincible with all this damage we deal, ZOE MAX'S get cocky and are prone to making mistakes.
Second we RARELY turn it off, we simply forget to most of the time, making wounded ZOE max's easy pray for an enterprising infiltrator or light assault.
Thirdly, we usually end up rushing ahead due to our increased movement speed and are thus separated from our supports. This means that more often than not we have no engineers nearby to help us out.
Just keep an ear out for the Vanu trooper screaming for repairs and put your hunter face on.
The VS armor loss has been changed so that it equals 20% less damage needed to kill you no matter what source. No more double small arms fire damage.

Thanks for letting me know.
Ok now rocket launchers and other such anti armour weaponry is super duper effective against Max's now... It's a shame the other factions don't have the lancer, sniping bright glowing purple hit me signs would be Hilarious.
I wonder, how well would this game run once I change my computer's hardware up a bit. I don't have anything amazing by far. but I want to know if I can at least play it on low
8GB DDR3 1333 ram [upping to 12GB or maybe 16GB on Monday]
Athlon II X3 450 [upgrading to Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition on Monday as well]
GTX 650 [non TI, unfortunately :(]
I think that may be all the important specs, so yeah.
Any ideas?
I run 4GB DDR3 ram, Intel Core i5 760 2.8GHz, GTX 660 and I run this game on medium/high. Make sure you put stuff like Shadows on low etc.
How long have recon darts given xp? Go to spawn camp, shoot recon dart, get xp. Bonus points for shooting right before the base flip.
Since the last update.
Oh a real reason to use it now.
There are some stairs at Rashnu Watchtower that don't lead anywhere...

I didn't think much of ZOE untill I actually met a platoon with a couple of guys using them
Removing the only downside of maxes over infantry seemed such a good idea at the time!

Try blowing it up with c4, there must be a secret room!
The recon dart tends to not work or disapear after 2 seconds. It's like after they gave it a way to get XP, they broke it in the process.

I wish I could play with higher than low as fuck graphics. I can run FC3 on high with no problem, but this?
Low...and it's so pretty on high.

How can you stand using anything other than a 2x on automatics? I HATE missing shots and most automaticss are completely uncontrollable for me if I use higher optics.

I usually use a 3.4x on all of my mid-range or longer guns. Good zoom, still usable at close quarters even with the really thick scope on for the TR 3.4x
I just realized how much the inf dart certifications suck balls. 1780 certs to have the dart only last 40 seconds when you could just pull a flash and have it permanent? come on
On second thought darts can't be destroyed though. mmh

It's a little more worthwhile now that you get exp for dart spots. I'd still never fully cert it though.
so I decided to check how high the load on my cores was while running around in busy areas, while being CPU bottlenecked

My question obviously is: why does it not go above 50% CPU usage while it can do so, and is there a way to remove this weird limitation in usage?
[editline]3rd June 2013[/editline]
the drop on the 3rd core is from me messing around, disabling PS2 to use said core.

Did the recent patch really effect it that much?

The answer to your question is shit optimization
I have an i7-3610 and I'm still CPU bound at around 20 fps in big battles (regardless of video settings)
