Planetside 2 V6 - VS capped Indar? It's more likely than you think
Did the recent patch really effect it that much?
Unfortunately, yes. I was doing just fine with a mix of medium and high settings until the patch. So I lowered it to all medium, still bad. The stutter is still noticeable even with all low settings. This is the first update that's affected my computer this badly.
Today I decided to set aside a certain character with which I'm going to attempt to achieve BR100 in a completely pacifistic manner.
Its not pacifism if you're still aiding the war machine bro
Its not pacifism if you're still aiding the war machine bro
Maybe he's going to destroy terminals and turrets, enemy and friendly ones alike? So no one could use them for war.
Pacifism, by any means necessary.
Q spot your way to BR100
I just realized how much the inf dart certifications suck balls. 1780 certs to have the dart only last 40 seconds when you could just pull a flash and have it permanent? come on
On second thought darts can't be destroyed though. mmh
Infil's in general have pretty worthless certs
The only real thing of value you can cert into as an infil is AP mines, everything is either worthless or a minor buff or something interesting with a serious tradeoff.
I'm just glad they give you XP now, so at least I don't feel totally worthless when I use them. Might be worth it to cert it to the ammo-upgrade just for that.
Q spot your way to BR100
Cert flash into radar, be infiltrator, cert into darts, reach rank 100 in a matter of hours! Multi-spot kills, extreme menace, be that guy on your server that everyone hides from, lest they be spotted. Vanu tremble at the sight of you at night for only vanu knows what will happen if you catch a sight of them.
So... apparently I still have my free membership even though it was supposed to be expired :v: But when I go to the membership screen in the store in-game it gives me pricing options, as if I don't have it.
Checked my credit cards and I wasn't charged so... yay!
Yeah well I can only hope darts are broken at the moments. When they actually go off instead of disappearing in thin air they seem to actually give credit with no apparent logic and very far inbetween.
I can only assume they give you credit only if the person getting killed is being pinged at the exact moment they die (that means they are moving, noone else spotted them and they are not shooting) because after using it for half an hour I only got an assist like 4 times
so I decided to check how high the load on my cores was while running around in busy areas, while being CPU bottlenecked

My question obviously is: why does it not go above 50% CPU usage while it can do so, and is there a way to remove this weird limitation in usage?

the drop on the 3rd core is from me messing around, disabling PS2 to use said core.
When I was running my AMD processor not too long ago, I had overclocked it to 4ghz (from 3.2) and saw almost no change. PS2's optimization is reminiscent of a certain Belorussian game about tanks that runs on servers made from recycled vodka bottles and cigarette cartons.

4.5ghz overclock here. Both Planetside 2 and WoT seem to chug on my processor. Graphs show it has plenty of power to use, but it just doesn't. both games, it seems. I don't understand, I feel like optimizations should be much higher on the list
but hey, I haven't played either game in 2-3 months
I hate to keep ragging on this but playing on the lowest settings produce about the same, if not worse, fps as when I play on medium settings. I really don't understand. The fps counters says its my cpu but while my fx-4100 isn't the best it certainly shouldn't be bottle necking.
The only things I managed to discover were that some settings are more CPU dependent than others. Keep your shadows and particle effects low (or even turn them off in the .ini) and you will notice a small improvement.
Oh and don't go out of your way to put the game on an SSD, it barely made a difference on my Phenom II 955 or my i5-3570k.
Its incredibly frustrating to get such poor performance. I have never had my fps range from above 60 to below 20 in such a fashion.
Yep, I'm not a premium member anymore (no que bonus and the game still tries to get me to buy the membership if I go to the member screen) but I still have the 30% XP/resource bonus :v: cool
Yeah as do I.
I'm not complaining.

isn't it 25%? I should check it though because it'd be damn sweet if we keep that bonus
Yeah, I got that bonus ages ago from playing one of their other MMO's. So glad it transferred.
Texture quality set to ultra should give you a fps boost if you're cpu bound. Something about the processor not having to scale them down at a a distance. Not sure about model quality
But yeah at the end of the day there is no magic button that will fix the crap optimization for you.
To all the people commenting on overclocking and getting no real improvement, try un-parking your cores. I noticed an increase in fps after I un-parked mine. The article only mentions Intel CPU's but I think it should work for AMD ones as well.

This was one of the first things I did. Without this, overclocking was literally pointless. This gave me the small benefit I did have.

I think it is 25% but I already had a previous memebership done back in november so I guess when I got the free month it automatically made it the 30% teir instead of the base 25% one
I got 25$ in currency with my new nvidia card, it was some kind of bonus. How much in game would this be and is it worth getting a subscription?
i wanted to investigate the weekend warrior bundle to see what was in it

Yeah it's bugged, a lot of people are getting that. I think it's supposed to have two one day exp boosters in it though.

Contact support, they'll probably be able to set it right.
