if you get a direct hit on infantry, it's a one-hit kill (unless they have high-level flak armour)
problem is you need to be about 10m away from the target to prime the grenade, and it can take a while to get used to the arc the grenade flies in

it also finishes off a sunderer if you damage it with 2 bricks of c4

The marauder is absolutely amazing, even though it can't direct OSHK you can still absolutely wreck with the extra splash and fire rate.
Also the mosquito is a better aircraft then the scythe but the reaver still beats both thanks to its incredible vertical thrust, afterburner, and the insane DPS of it's rotary that allows it to oneclip without certing it.

In all seriousness though they are the only faction that I consistently get triple headshotted with by their LMGs and carbines on a regular basis. No other faction does that. Not TR when I'm playing as NC, and not NC when I'm playing as TR.
It's usually sporadic as fuck. With VS it's a regular thing.

If It's any consolation i do almost nothing but use the lasher so I as least know what pain is, although trying to fight gimped on purpose isn't really much of a consolation to most anywho. Still, makes Scatmaxes cry when you can Kill them outside their effective range before they have a chance to walk over to you.
No really, I swapped to an uncerted light assault for shiggles once and Jesus fuck, I could kill EVERYTHING!!! Cept SMG Infiltrators. As a result I dislike fighting NC more than anything as up close their guns do more damage and bullet drop isn't an issue so I've lost a few times to SMG infiltrators who have the uncanny knack of getting omniheadshots on low health.

Oh yeah, the Marauder is a decent weapon (I use it on my infantry farming Prowler), but it is essentially just a Fury that fires faster with less damage. Not particularly exciting to use, and the range is disappointing courtesy of the heavy projectile drop. What annoys me is that the TR tanks have to choose between either being (bad) AV, or (so-so) AI, whereas the VS and NC tanks can just go "lol AV" and instagib infantry with their rapid-fire death cannons from 400m away, and then facerape any vehicles that attempt to attack them.
I hate every empire that isn't me.
Ideally they should drop the Sauron's and Enforcer's guns damage by [I]shitload[/I] (or drop their rate of fire / damage) - I fear Magrider / Vanguard gunners more than the drivers, for fucks sake. Damage done against infantry should be dropped heavily, so it takes multiple hits to kill, or the accuracy should be made worse so that VS/NC players have to actually consider whether to take the AV gun or AI gun
The TR are supposed to be the most accurate faction, but their Vulcan (AV turret) is an absolute joke beyond ten meters. Drop its infantry damage in exchange for increased accuracy and magazine size and it'll be less shit.
Is the underbarrel shotgun really that bad? I've been using it for a while and I have done reasonably well with it.

I agree the Sauron HRB is too good vs infantry, it is literally the best sniper rifle in the game.
Although for killing infantry the Proton II is MILES better, no really that thing kills any infantry in two hits and has a 50 round clip, it only costs 250 certs too. Try it out, it's Fukken amazing!

Yes. A lot of weapons were lowered in cert cost and there are more ways to earn certs now too.

I started playing yesterday and I got around 300 certs, don't know what that means but eh.

Cert gain is definitely faster now - there's more bonuses (such as getting +250xp every couple kills with the same gun), more XP for some stuff, and more fights to farm XP at.
I can't believe they haven't released a new continent yet though, it's almost been a year since I started playing.

Its because the whole continent design philosophy got changed so they're just spending time redoing the current ones so I guess its delayed the others.
I'm fine with some continents being empty while fights are happening on others just like in PS1, it's good for the metagame, we just need more continents.

As some of you may or may not know, Planetside recently went pseudo-F2p for six months. This is good. However. The game is dieing at a rapid rate. We need to secure it's rate and prevent it from flatlining.
Please, Announce to all your groups, that is all of them, that Planetside [The Original] is free to play for six months. This will hopefully drive up the population a bit.
Please post below if you have read this. Whilst this isn't one of my favorite games, I do not belive it should die. It must survive, and I want to ensure that it never dies.
The game is usually said to be more fun in 3000 vs 3000 vs 3000 battles. Let's make that possible.

I remember seeing screenshots of Planetside in a magazine before it came out and remember thinking Wow. So many people at the same time, with Air and Armor and Infantry, and it looks so good! It will be missed

I still think they should add in A large stompy robot to PS2 at some point but make the effort to balance it.

I would totally use that.
Of course I was also the first person on Werner to get the Silver and Gold AA merit in PS1 with a BFR and Starfire MAX... So I do have a history of giantrobophilia...
I really want to enjoy PS2 but there are a lot of things preventing that.
The main one is the CPU bottleneck - my processor isn't great but it's by no means bad. But there are a lot of little things, like unbalanced weapons and vehicles and shit, the inability to accurately configure my joystick, the way you have to hold your crosshair low on a target to hit it (I'm not sure if this is because there is bullet drop), the way you have to wait 5 minutes pinning the enemy team in their spawn room until you actually capture the sector. IMO spawn rooms should be hackable once all points in a given sector are under control. The attackers still don't win til the timer expires, and the defenders can still spawn on their beacons or sunderers. But yeah I still find the game really fun as is, but in 30+ player battles my fps begins to drop from 40 (I have it capped, not sure if it even helps) to a minimum of about 9. I'm sure it's been discussed plenty of times but this game needs to be better optimised, I don't get how they'd go about it beyond sort of instancing the sectors, but that could lead to trouble with flying and crossing sector borders. Fuck knows.
