Here is an interesting quote.
"We're going to make it better than EU4"
[editline]23rd January 2014[/editline]
I hope the map won't be Mercator projection.
It is probably going to be what ever they used for HOI 1 2 and 3.
[editline]23rd January 2014[/editline]
I completely skipped over the EU4 and CK2 Expansions
CK2: Raja's of India
EU4: Wealth of Nations
Rajas makes the map 50% bigger adding India,
Wealth of Nations focuses on diplomacy and trade.
Fucking hell.
These expansions are more like raids on my finances. I seriously love EU4 too much not to get the big ones when they come out.
Paradox can have all my money now. They can just take it. I love their games too damn much.
India in CK2 will be interesting.
For which game? Victoria 2 to HOI4?
Yeah for those two, sorry I should've been more specific.

Fuck yeah India.
I wonder how far east they're willing to go, some China would be pretty awesome.
Oh god HOI4 yes! I can't wait for it, when is it coming out??

That's too bad, I'll have a lot of free time on my hands starting June. Guess I'll get the DLC collection for CK II, instead.
I hope they add some Prester John stuff for CKII, it'd be really interesting
Expanding the map out further east means they'll need to completely overhaul Mongol invasions. I wonder how they plan on doing that.

I'd expect it'll amount to doubling their doomstacks
Dev quote on HOI4
"More sandbox. Determinism in the path of failure."

It depends how they expand the map. I wouldn't be surprised if they made something like this:
[t]http://u.cubeupload.com/Kljunas/edSanstitre.jpg[/t]
"Our goal is to do what we did between hoi1 & hoi2 and apply than on hoi3."
[editline]23rd January 2014[/editline]
"Hoi4 will have much more options for the player when it comes to affecting country politics"
Ugh, frustrations. Starting with the Old Gods it seems like Paradox has run out of ideas and is then grabbing the lowest denominator stuff from the forums, making the game less and less about what it is supposed to be about and instead shoehorning everything and everyone into this faux-feudal structure. At least Sons of Abraham was a step in the right direction again, but supposedly didn't even do well.
I don't know about anyone else at this point, but I got into CKII for the actual 'Crusader Kings'. Sure would love to see something about changing up the godawful crusade mechanics. I mean, I'll wait and see what it's like because they usually bundle these things with massive general patches, but the title alone is kinda disappointing.
Shit just setting a gathering point for crusades, ala Constantinople during the first or Venice during the Fourth, would be great rather than having a hundred minor European armies die to easily gathered Egyptian doomstacks

EU4: Wealth of Nations

Trade companies and perhaps more emphasis on industries like in Eu3 would be fun.
I'd expect it'll amount to doubling their doomstacks
What I mean is that the Mongol Empire will actually spawn from all start dates now instead of just one specific date, then the Ilkhanate and Golden Horde will spawn in the middle of the map, possibly on land that the Mongols already conquered, THEN you have even more hordes spawning right on top of the Mongol Empire because the Mongol Empire was supposed to have broken apart but usually doesn't because it's almost impossible for Empires to permanently fall apart in CK2.
There's also the possibility of Seljuk going in the wrong direction but he already tends to do that.
Trade companies and perhaps more emphasis on industries like in Eu3 would be fun.
Yes please! Ever since Conquest of Paradise came out, every single time I get on multiplayer with my friend we always devolve into lamenting that there aren't trade companies for Africa and Asia to stop Portugal from holding all of West Africa as an extension of Portugal proper by 1550. Also, protectorates suck.

One thing i disliked is how it was impossible to join axis as say the USA no matter how hard you tried even with cheats. I know it's not supposed to happen but if i try really hard enough it should be possible. Also the different parties in your government were useless as i could never switch my goverment type no matter what so here is me hoping they will fix that.

[t]http://u.cubeupload.com/Kljunas/edSanstitre.jpg[/t]
They should make India it's own map, instead of literally expanding the map as a whole. I think that might address the possible problem of mongol invasions, etc.

Prester John, for all intents and purposes, was Ethiopia, who's already in the game (And very interesting to play as.). Islamic expansion cut them off from mainland Europe, leading to the myths and fables about a "Prosperous eastern Christian kingdom"

I played a Russia game and they don't really do anything. You don't really have any incentive for creating them. Protectorates should at least be annexable or something when they westernize.

There should just be a stand alone India title. Hell, China would be more interesting for this in my opinion.

Yeah didn't mean that it should be Prester John in India, just that it seems like as good as time as any to add Prester John events to the game
Prester John myth was Ethiopia
Prester John myth was Ethiopia
Okay

If we follow that trend then I suspect another one—focusing on India or China—might not do so well either. In China's case, it might but I still doubt it.
Recent region-specific games like March of the Eagles
I wasn't interested in MoTe because I wasn't really a fan of the short time period and focus on a single conflict.
Chinese/Asian history can play through centuries. Uniting China through CkII intrigue and such would be pretty fun. Not to mention that the warring states period is pretty iconic so that could make a good starting point.
Is Sengoku any good? I've heard that its more complicated than HoI3.
