That Germany. All is good in the world.
Lawrence would be proud
My real goal was to re-create the borders at the peak of the Umayyad caliphate, but I felt that attempting to overextend myself all the way into Granada (while having to fight France and friends) was a bad idea. Instead, I headed east after colonizing Africa, and took bites out of the revolutionary Turkish and Russian states.

I'm sick and tired of vanilla Vic2, I mean with all AHD and HoD, can anyone recommend me any good mods for it?
What mod is this?
Doesn't look like he's using one.
What mod is this?
I'm not using any mods other then a couple localization and flag changes That map is a photoshop of the world map from the end of my V2 game.
i made a mod so that the berber nations (which otherwise have no nation to form) can form Carthage they even have their own ideas now im gonna show those romans who's the boss so far my mod adds wallonian idea group, ideas for Georgia, Mongol Khanate and berber decision to form Carthage.
Nooooo! Those poor Berbers would never do such a thing! ;c
tbh "poor berbers" would benefit from adapting to a carthaginian lifestyle
SO i got Vicky 2. How the fuck do I deal with the complexity?
Liberate economy, get pissed at capitalists, pull reforms faster.
Map update! I've got some borders going on. Just need to label some of the smaller islands. For some reason I keep trying to play Ecuador in Victoria II. Im fucking terrible at it.
So, interest check. Who would be interested in a EU4 MP game? Sundays at 20 PM CET or so? Of course if people would prefer another time go ahead and say it.
i would be interested
So I've figured out how to conquer Ireland in CK2, but now what? I manage to unify Ireland and get my vassals under my thumb (more or less, but I won't know more until later) so now where and how can I expand? England seems like a great way to get myself dead, and Scotland is nothing to sneeze at either. I can finally field armies past the ten thousand man mark, but unified Scotland or England can field armies that can snuff my stuff out or can match my army and bring in a second small one to fuck my shit up with. Should I try to wait until they have a civil war to make a land grab? When I tried pulling that on England, I suddenly found myself being invaded by Scotland and before I know it, England is reunified, my army is in the middle of Wessex, and I'm a couple counties poorer. What do?
Scotland, Wales, or Brittany.
Scotland, Wales, or Brittany.
I should avoid forming additional kingdoms until I can get a claim on an empire right? I made the mistake of forming the Kingdom of Wales to get extra land, and from what I could tell, one of my sons was gonna inherit the title to Ireland, and the other was gonna get Wales, which would break the welsh chunk off my kingdom when I die, right? Speaking of that, when is the right time to create titles to duchies and extra kingdoms? I always form the first duchy I can to get under my belt, but what about the spares I can form to hand out to my vassals?

Marry into France or the HRE, build a couple dozen keeps/barracks/walls, get retinues and upgrade your Military Tech (spymaster stealing tech in Constantinople is an easy way to get points.) Also join on Crusades when you can, since that gives a +2 martial just for entering the Holy Land, plus you get crazy good opinion bonuses from it. In fact, train up as many kids as you can in Martial, since good commanders make or break a battle even when one side has a slight (like 1.2x-1.5x) numerical advantage. I always form the first duchy I can to get under my belt, but what about the spares I can form to hand out to my vassals?
The trick with that is having an inheritance system that doesn't cause you to lose one kingdom just because the old man dies. Ultimogeniture, Primogeniture and Elective are good with this, while Seniority tends to fuck things up with nonstop old dudes and Gavelkind's entire appeal is sectioning off land. Given the size of Ireland/Wales, it won't be hard to wait for a period of peace to enact one of these. Something important to recognize is that it's ok to let your sons remain unlanded; the little shits will always ask for land and you'll get a prestige penalty for not doing so, but the penalty is irrelevant once you get a couple kingdom titles and the asking for land is empty demands since they don't actually hold any authority. Also if you have Sons of Abraham you can order sons to take the vows, which causes them to leave the inheritance game altogether (in theory at least, I've had more than my share of monk sons demanding land or launching claim wars.) As for Duchies and Kingdoms; make duchies when you have lots of money and nothing else to really do, but usurp duchies as soon as you can (for the reason explained next.) Kingdom titles are very useful to usurp because it simultaneously tears apart the former kingdom and gives you CBs against all of the duchies/petty kingdoms that emerge.
In my inevitable kingdoms, I generally shoot for Elective, while breeding for genius and strong and educating heirs myself up until they're 15 which is where I'll change the tutor to someone with a different education if I so desire. I generally keep two adjacent, large duchies and are often 1-2 counties over my demesne limit (20 opinion hit isn't that bad if you aren't hurting elsewhere and if you have good traits). I use people finder to recruit good characters to my council. I generally stick to medium crown authority, and I never create other duchy titles. I just keep independent weak counts. I've never really cared to have large empires because the game gets really boring at that stage but if I did I'd probably create more duchies and kingdoms but I prefer playing as smaller states
Does anyone else seriously hate EU 3? I lose every single battle I fight. I just had a battle where 4,000 Leaderless Swiss went up against my 3,000 Prussians who had better troop types, a defensive position, and an awesome general with a Shock value of 2 that I remember off the top of my head. PLUS the Swiss had to cross a river. I lost. At first it went in my favor but the stupid, shitty, cheating dice roll mechanic made gave me shitty rolls and even my general's stats somehow couldn't compensate. I know there are logistical things involved as I was in enemy territory, but for fuck sake that battle should have been an easy victory. This happens every single time I play this game. The only way I ever succeeded in winning a battle in EU 3 was by having at least a 2:1 -hell- 3:1 numbers advantage over the enemy. Even if I go a completely militaristic route with my sliders and my national ideas, I swear to god I always lose and it keeps me from enjoying what should be the easiest and most relaxing Paradox game. Am I doing something wrong, or is this just the way the game works?

Make sure your generals are good, make sure you have no war exhaustion, are you forced marching? What year is it? Early on Shock is more important than firepower.
This ever happen to anyone else? [t]http://i.imgur.com/8LbbYUN.jpg[/t]

Also, that change with new england being a protectorate of Canada is pretty big, what happened there? And a few other places. Annnnd, who were you playing?
Confederates probably. Besides the USSR, that's the only real anomaly on the map. The American Civil War is always a Union victory in my games, sometimes the South doesn't even rebel. I've seen plenty of major socialist countries in vanilla vicky II, yet never the USSR. I've seen the USSR (and warred with them) using the Pops of Darkness mod, but they were disappointingly weak and got ousted by Jacobins within a decade.
