I'm gonna assume they got a PU with Naples though so that's not too surprising I guess, pretty lucky for them though
I really thought that artwork was some weird medieval scat porn for a second there.
So I go on Gamersgate because they have the DRM free Vicky 2 and all dlc on sale and see this on the front page:

fuckin a
I just married her years ago for prestige, I don't want all this land. Was doing a count to king play through for Asturias but this ruins it all :(

i wouldn't worry much anyways, you'll lose it all in a succession revolt
Playing an Ireland campaign with my housemate who is relatively new to CK2.
I'm now his wife but I have my own duchy. He has his own too.
He doesn't know what a matrilineal marriage is yet.. But he's about to. I've never been such a devious cunt!
how cruel
also am I the only person to never really get the whole Ireland thing? Ireland is boring as molasses and I find it a pretty poor training bit too. I'd say be a vassal count somewhere, or Duke of Apulia or something. You get exposed to more gameplay mechanics that way, and its way more interesting imo
I like Ireland because it's easy to become King of the entire thing, teaches you how to gain land by creating Duchies/Kingdoms and fighting/demanding vassalisation, fabricating claims, and inviting claimants to lands you want to your court, making them a vassal and then pressing their claim.

I also like taking over wales because it's usually split into counties and duchies, and then opportunistically snatching land from England, Scotland, Iberia and France (I often get Brittany and places like Asturias), perhaps gaining a Kingdom through succession (marry a king's only daughter, assassinate his only son and then him, or marry a queen regnant). Eventually you're strong enough to take England county by county until you can form Brittania, and then fight the end war against rump England to claim your rightful lands.

I think starting as a duke is better than a count, because you can at least do something. You won't learn much by sitting in your county waiting decades to get some money to hire mercs. The British Isles are a good spot because you have a lot of weak targets for expansion and nobody will really bother you. My first game was as some duke in Wales and it was pretty cool.
I wouldn't recommend Apulia for a beginner though. It's a pretty rough start because you have landed claimants, several duchies exposed to gavelkind split, provinces that aren't of your culture and the ERE having claims on your whole territory.

Exactly. Teaches you how to deal with the claimants, the dangers of culture and religion revolts, and how to defend yourself. Forging Siciliy is easy as pie too

So, are we going to continue this tonight?
I'm this close to making Alaska into a Great Power in Victoria 2, will post pictures later
Dear fucking god this observe game.
France attacked Castille who was in a PU with Aragon, then the Union broke due to negative prestige, then France got a PU with Aragon.
Poland had a PU with Lithuania & Muscowvy.
France ate most of Burgundy by 1550.

Personally I've found the 867 start of the Byzantine Empire to be the best for beginners, or at the very least for people who know the basics.
You start as a relatively young Emperor with 1-2 very young children, an easily winnable war that requires the use of boats, a wide assortment of weak neighbors you have CBs on and two events (mend the schism and restore the Roman Empire) that give an extra impetus for people who are used to having goals in their games.
Okay I've uploaded the album, Just a point of caution though; I REALLY suck at Victoria 2.

Still I think I did okay

Any good overhaul mods (on stuff like tech, law, politics, administration, finance, etc) for CK2 without necessarily editing the provinces?

Can we get a picture of your population? I'm guessing it's like 100% Russian, but still.

CKII+? It has been a while since I used it but I recall that it did a decent job of adding a bit more depth to the game, if that is what you are looking for by saying overhaul

It consists of several mods that you can combine with one or another. One of the modules is SWMH though which does change around de jure stuff/fuckton of localization/etc but you have the choice of not playing with it (it's really awesome though imo, I wouldn't dare play without it).

It isn't compatible with PDM to my knowledge.
It works with PDM it just won't show names for the new countries, only their 3 letter code
Really? I tried it on a PDM game and it just gave me a thousand errors.
I was playing the Grand Campaign mod for HOI:DH and I just won WW1 as Britain without a single battle being fought on the Western Front. Germany didn't attack Belgium and so just sat at Alsace-Lorraine while Russia was destroyed but after Russia was defeated Germany did nothing and just collapsed due to pure war weariness :v:
