Generally they start dying from old age between 60 and 80. I think my oldest ruler was 87 or something like that before dying from a disease or something like that.

I abandoned the save game shortly after.
but thats fun take it back!
Sorry, but no. One thing is if it's just the Byzantine Empire, but I had spent 200 ingame years reforming the Roman Empire and conquering half the map. It's so much work for so little reward and it's just so heartbreaking to see the AI dissolve it the way it did. Besides, I got a new computer and I didn't transfer any save games.
oh well then
The one thing I really love about CKII is that if you aren't carful your family can fade into obscurity
The one thing I really love about CKII is that if you aren't carful your family can fade into obscurity
That's why you give males land and make some females marry maternally and make tons of splinter branches. More men to give land too = more family members.
I ended up taking it back and getting everything into nice working order. But I got bored with nice working order so I decided to go to war with some small country near me without really looking into it and he called in a bunch of allies and my army got wrecked due to the ally I called in for assistance being all like "Nah"
This is why you check their allies before you go to war, and if need be, strategically assassinate their ties with each other so they aren't allies anymore, take out high diplomacy and high martial faction leaders and marshals to reduce their army sizes
It was my first ever game with this game, and also my first ever game of any game in this style, so I will learn from my mistakes. I'll try out some other things than just brute force next time, since that obviously didn't work :v:
Oh god yes, brute force is terrible https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLH-huzMEgGWALGrDB674UmdpE9Cfy5DXw Spend a few hours just watching his videos, they're pretty helpful

North Ireland will always be part of the UK.
So fucking happy, expect a House of Northumbria AAR in a while [t]http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/469804623027924587/DAC083B9092DCEF94C6A24D22DF639F1EFD7E3E3/[/t] For context, this is an Ironman Old Gods start as the Petty Kingdom of Northumbria, which is rated as Practically Impossible due to them starting with 2.5k men raised from the country, at war with two prepared invasions by Ivar the Boneless and Halfdan Whiteshirt, who combined have 18k+ men. In pretty much every game Northumbria gets their shit kicked in within a year, but after a few tries I got lucky absorbing a few Irish armies and hired some mercs with jew money and was able to beat a sizeable Ivar army and get 46% warscore and sue for a white peace. What was left of that army got wrecked immediately by Halfdan so I lost Northumberland but I kept Lothian. Now I'm plotting my revenge against these Lothbrok bastards to retake my lands and kick them out of Britain
Ironman start in 867, County of Schwyz as a custom ruler. Managed to gain the Duchy of Upper Burgundy within one generation. West Francia was a bro and war'd my de jure claim for St. Gallen without me lifting a finger (originally it belonged to me, but got split due to Gavelkind and me originally starting as a Count). Demanded Independence with the Duchy of Gascogne from the Kingdom of Burgundy, got rekt due to Gascogne being a little bitch and almost every king in Europe being a Karling, so I had West Francia, Burgundy, Aquitaine, Lotharingia, East Francia and Bavaria on my back. Luckily managed to secure a white peace due to my Duke having a Martial skill of 20 and Mercs bought with jew gold. So I bided my time, upgraded my castles, (matrilineally) married my daughters off and when Burgundy (and Aquitaine under one King) was fighting some random succession crisis I declared war for independence, luckily the King accepted my demands. So I was free and had no liege to answer to. Ruler dies, next generation. A woman. A woman that is not matrilineally married. Fuck my life I only got 5 years into my regime (around 950 in-game at this point) before she dropped dead and that was the end of my dynasty. HOW DID I NOT SEE THAT COMING?! But having a brother as the leader of the Teutonic Order and *almost* gaining the Crown of Asturias through a betrothal to a 15 year old (fucking hell Ludolf, the Incapable 50-year-old, you old pedo) before dying and being replaced by the non-matrilineally married Duchess; kind of made me proud of myself. I love you and I hate you Crusader Kings II. [editline]15th March 2014[/editline] Hope I was descriptive enough with the lack of in-game pictures.
Crosspost for visibility: http://www.reddit.com/r/CrusaderKing...d_this_is_the/ [t]http://i.imgur.com/EMaYZw1.jpg[/t] As depicted, this is a playthrough of the House of Northumbria, usually known as impossible from their Old Gods start, where they're up against 18k Danes from The Great Heathen Army (The Sons of Lothbrok), with only 2.5k men. What I did was accept many Irish lords to join my war and created a decent sized army (~6k men) to defeat one of Ivar the Boneless' armies and push warscore up to a green 46%, where I sued for a white peace. Halfdan Whiteshirt easily crushed what was left of my army and took the counties of Northumbria, but this was okay for I still controlled Lothian. From Lothian I slowly rebuilt my armies and consolidated my power whilst the Lodbrok son's armies splintered from attrition through other wars and watched them conquer much of Britain. Halfdan was able to conquer Mercia, Ivar East Anglia. It was when their armies had lost their initial strength I pursued a war against Halfdan to retake my lands, but during this war Ælla died and I lost my strong claim and thus my casus belli. It wasn't until I fabricated a claim on the Petty Kingdom of Mercia that I was able to take the lands again. An interesting development however was the invasion of the British Isles by Denmark, initially the king had a prepared invasion of Scotland, after which I pursued a holy war for Albany when their forces had been weakened. He participated in the war where I was trying to take Mercia, much to my ire, took York during that war, forcing me to retake it, and now is messing around Sudreyjar and Ireland. Alfred was never able to take Wessex from Æthelred, and in his attempt to take the kingdom, he lost and died in the dungeons. Much of Europe is lost in Karling border-gore and no strong powers remain. One thing is certain however, the Lords of Northumbria, having regained their strength and lands past, are here to stay.
Woah holy crap I literally JUST read that on Reddit :v:
Has anyone ever heard of other Northumbria playthroughs/AARs?
[t]http://puu.sh/7xcI7.jpg[/t] With a strong christian rule no dirty Ottomans will challenge Europe. Hopefully I don't end up like Baldwin and have to sell my son and priceless christian artifacts to survive :v:
So I just had 2 million jacobins spawn in one province.. Is this normal? It's my first vicky game, happened after I decided to conquer half of Canada before game ended
1. You're Fascist meaning that people will hate you. 2. You took over coreless land which means those people will hate you 3. Your militancy is 5 meaning people are generally pissed at you. So yeah, a perfectly normal result.
