Is the mod ready because that looks pretty cool.
not by far, but it will need beta testers eventually
I've never seen the USA involved with a Colonial War outside of North America before
[t]http://puu.sh/7ADsA.jpg[/t]
so my first game as england in eu4
~100 years in : vassalized portugal, naples (feeding), and have a PU over france and castille
edit: forgot to mention I formed GB and have a full fed norway vassal ready to annex, and that I already annexed brittany + flanders
of course this was super easy because I won 100 years war with loans. castille PU was all luck (they were originally my ally)
So why the fuck do I not get a casus belli against a country whom I launched a crusade against? I was fighting France as Burgundy for a few decades and only gained a few provinces, but then I saw that Constantinople had fallen so I called a crusade on the Ottomans.
EUIV btw.
[t]http://puu.sh/7xcI7.jpg[/t]
With a strong christian rule no dirty Ottomans will challenge Europe.
Hopefully I don't end up like Baldwin and have to sell my son and priceless christian artifacts to survive :v:
A rump Byzantium is always a sad thing to behold.
So I understand and really enjoy all of the paradox titles, the HOI series I find a bit more difficult but still fun. The only one I haven't managed to grasp very well is Vicky II, gonna try and learn it tonight. Wish me luck. :v:

Play the USA. It practically industrializes itself and you snowball into #1-3 GP unless you do something really stupid and/or lose New York.
Currently playing a game where I formed the empire of francia and managed to absorb most of spain, italy and the northwestern part of africa. having a retinue cap of 60k+ is crazy.
i just performed an afk game in my mod for eu4 to see what would happen

basically, lysimachus AI is better at being ottomans than what the actual ottomans ever are in eu4...
Raja's patch seems like it'll be interesting
A few highlights I noticed
- Added diplomatic range, blocking diplomacy and councillor actions vs too distant characters
- Factions will now revolt as a single unified realm under a temporary title
- Added attrition for units that have been "out-of-supply" for too long (can't live off the land in neutral counties, etc)
- Blocked "North Korea Mode"; you now lose huge parts of all income and levies if your demesne is too big
- Children can no longer pick up the religion or culture of a guardian if the guardian does not share the religion or culture of his employer
Holy shit.
I'm pretty sure that you can still change a child's culture by sending him to a landed person in your realm who has a different culture. Not sure though.
Holy shit.
Yeah, I heard that there'll no longer an infidel malus so it seems that you'll be able to send your child to foreign courts without difficulty. Though I'm not sure
The only issue I can see is being able to cancel the education once you've achieved the goal of converting them. (Withdrawing the kid from the court after he's become Norse or Muslim or whatever, so you can continue his education yourself so they don't get shit stats that you don't want)
The guardian thing about culture/religion will still work as long as the dude is landed because then he is his own "employer".
[editline]20th March 2014[/editline]
Timur and Seljuk being have a lot of fun potential now. Imagine converting them and/or banishing them to a distant realm. Imagine Jewish Timur starting his invasion from Morocco.
Any hint of a price? Methinks 15 bucks, but who knows.
15 to 20 I bet
Why does colonies only gain the primary culture of the colonising country? Surely it'd be more realistic if there was a chance that some colonies would gain an accepted culture of a colonising country.
ie: If Denmark owns Sweden and Swedish was an accepted culture, then any Danish colonies could also have Swedish as their culture.
15 to 20 I bet
I would buy a Chinese CkII in a heartbeat. India's still pretty interesting, hopefully I don't have to wait forever for a sale.

That's because crusades don't give CB, only bonuses against fighting that country for everyone who is your religion.

Hell YES
I wasn't even unaware that this "North Korea Mode" was a thing until now.
[editline]21st March 2014[/editline]
Punishing the player for having fun gaming the system (from the looks of it NK mode sounds like a complete hassle to even begin with) seems harsh to me. I understand if it's suppose to be for MP reasons or something, but still.
I wasn't even unaware that this "North Korea Mode" was a thing until now.
Really? It's generally the easiest way to maintain stability and there really isn't a downside to it. Until now that is.
Really? It's generally the easiest way to maintain stability.
Yeah, never once thought about hoarding everything to myself. I usually only keep to myself a few whole duchies if my demesne size can handle it, while for everyone else in the realm I try to enforce a 1-2 title policy to avoid any one vassal from becoming too powerful. It generally works well for me stability-wise but revolts would happen occasionally every now and then. Though they're almost always easy to put down so it's basically a free relation boost for putting rebellions down every time. I also try to avoid giving any form of relative ever any form of title because that tends to sow the seed for conflict later down the line.
And you don't see any of these as downsides? From the NK thread;
* Your income is directly dependent on the amount of piety you have. If you have a tiny territory or a huge one - the income is still limited by piety. You need piety to imprison & banish city barons for income. If your leader has little piety, then you can get into a pickle in regards to money. There are techniques to minimize this as I'll discuss below.
* Peasant revolts. Oh god, the peasant revolts. When doing this technique with the Byzantine Empire, I'd wound up deploying permanent standing armies to roam around and put down peasant revolts.
* Tedium. To be honest, this method got very annoying after a while. Farming your nobles takes more effort than simply receiving taxes. Also, putting down peasant revolts is tedious.
* You can't change laws. Since all of the vassals hate you, they're not going to agree to any law changes.
As mentioned, there are techniques to minimize this, add to that the fact that the current penalties simply aren't high enough to be anysort of obstacle in my experience.

Not really that hard to deal with in my experience, if you're caught with your pants down, just borrow from the jews, hire mercs and crush the plebs. Never tried to do NK with Byzantium though so idk.
* Tedium. To be honest, this method got very annoying after a while. Farming your nobles takes more effort than simply receiving taxes. Also, putting down peasant revolts is tedious.
Subjective.
* You can't change laws. Since all of the vassals hate you, they're not going to agree to any law changes.
Non-issue, because in NK mode you don't have vassals.

tbh "North Korea Mode" wasn't a problem in itself, but it being sustainable was just a symptom of demesne penalties being too weak. Like if in EU4 you could just not core your provinces and your nation would continue to function even at 1000% overextension.
The simple fact that the benefits of NK far outweighed the downsides was ridiculous. I'm ok with such a playstyle being possible in theory but it really shouldn't be the optimal playstyle. Otherwise it feels like the only reason I'm giving titles is RP.

Exactly. Perfectly put.

in north korea mode you'd have barely any income at all, if you had retinues you'd go in minus income simply from maintenance on them so you can't really call it the optimal playstyle.
The main way to make money is to encourage urban development.
Make cities and raise obligations, or make cities for your subjects and either have liegship over it or increase feudal taxes to a manageable level.
Only build city holdings when possible. Having 3 or 4 cities with universities in them per province contributes a hella lot to tech development and income.
Without the managing of vassals you don't really have a game. Thats the whole point of CkII, unless you're playing as a vassal.
