Scribbled out some random ideas for Hearts of Iron IV achievements
be sure to play ironman and never give up
In CKII I actually have been using Iron Man as of late, I just give up waaay to easily because I don't like losing wars at all, or giving any sort of concessions.
Wait, in CK2 if you have a big dynasty and your current branch loses their titles, do you switch to another member?

but if you don't lose wars or make concessions or have bad, insane demon possessed characters, you have no basis for revenge and the desire to murder entire dynasties and retake lost land
thats most of the fun
Yeah, I realize that. It's one of the reasons I figured out that I do have this fear of making any sort of mistakes, because the time I worked hard to get my Duke out of jail, it was really rewarding and fun.
That and all the campaigns I've started in EU, CKII, Total War, that I don't go very far in due to me messing up on minor things.
Mistakes happen, though! Just gotta take your lumps and power on
YEAH BUT THE KING OF FRANCIA TAKING AWAY ALL MY HARD EARNED TITLES WHEN I DECIDED TO SWEAR FEALTY TO HIM MAKES ME MAD AND SAD AND DISCOURAGED.
:D
emperor of francia or king of france?
fuck him either way, become spymaster and kill the douchenozzle
[thumb]http://i.imgur.com/GOfj7mq.jpg[/thumb] Is it me or are pagans a tad too easy. And i was playing defensive ones at that.
Defensive pagans are even more BS because you can lure your enemies in to get wrecked.
Wait, in CK2 if you have a big dynasty and your current branch loses their titles, do you switch to another member?
Yes. If your character loses all of their titles, you'll switch to another dynasty member with titles. Not sure which order it goes, though.
Nothings more slightly unnerving than zooming out of your European game to see that India is slowly snaking its way into Persia
...and converting the muslims fast
India becomes a fucking stronghold lategame, and theres only one way to push
Does conversion even feel slow for anyone else after this expansion, it took my capitol like the entire first 120 years just to convert to Sunni from some Indian religion, already forgot what it was. All my chaplins have had a learning stat of like 18-20 too.

But like, this is the 900s. They already formed the Rajastan* empire, and they're slowly making their way into Khiva.
*(Or whatever the orange one is)
I never know what the hell to do as a vassal in CK2. Kings can more or less do whatever the fuck they want (especially Muslims), but whenever I start a game as like the Duke of Toulouse, I stare at the map for a month or two and give up.

Get more duke titles, usurp the throne. It's really easy to do honestly.
A normal day in CK2:

set your chancellor to fabricate claims, steward to collect taxes, spymaster to study tech somewhere (Constantinople is usually a good bet) then speed the game up, if anything major happens the game pauses on its own. I managed to create the empire of francia and conquered like 90% of spain and most of africa, starting as the duke toulouse, so things are possible :v:
Constantinople is hard to reach with your spymaster after the Rajas patch fixed operational range, but theres often plenty of other counties within range with higher tech than you.
Constantinople is hard to reach with your spymaster after the Rajas patch fixed operational range, but theres often plenty of other counties within range with higher tech than you.
How far is this operation range exactly? I'm able to plop my spy down on Constantinopolis without problems, and I'm roughly right next to where India is.
Why does the Arabian emperor always insist on putting his capital in Damascus? I fought so hard to get it away from the Abbasid guy with his 30 allies just for him to get usurped and the next emperor revoking Damascus from me and plopping his fucking capital there

Damascus is the dejure capital of the Arabian Empire, so the AI wants to put it there
dwi
Thats kinda dumb, I'd thought it would be some where in the Kingdom of Arabia, like Mecca, not Syria.
Dunno. It's a historically important town in Muslim history and it's better located for managing a large realm.
There is to much CKII in this thread. Let us spice it up a little!
So I was playing a Kaiserreich game as Ukraine because it is topical. Anyways, Ukraine is kind of in a tough spot. They do have a powerful ally (the German Empire) and are bordered by mostly friendly nations (besides the Don-Kuban Union, but that can be easily smashed with your starting armies) but you are dirt poor, have virtually no industry, and are behind several years technologically.
So I started upgrading my industry and conquering new territory. I quickly went to war and annexed the Don-Kuban Union when it went to war with its neighbor Azerbaijan. It was an easy victory. I then conquered the Mountainous Republic of the Northern Caucasus (yes, that is really its name) but the Germans secured the last province and made it into their puppet. I still got the bulk of the territory, so I was happy. I then invaded Georgia and took the northern provinces. The Ottomans, then my ally, made the two southern states into a protectorate and then left. For the rest of 1936-1938, I spent my time expanding my industry. The accumulated territories in Caucasia held lots of industry, and my nation began to work to a rather Stalanist "five year plan" to rebuild Ukraine.
Then in 1938 the Hohenzollerns kind of waged a familial civil war. One brother, claiming to be the Emperor, took over in White Ruthenia (or at least I think that is what happened) which is modern day Belarus. This happened literally three days after I declared war on (the now Syndicalist) Poland to "protect the ethnic Ukrainians in Galicia-Lodmeria". Me and the Germans wrapped up both wars quickly. The German Empire grew to be twice its size, and I gained Galicia-Lodmeria and some territory in former Ruthenia.
I never got to complete the five year plan. Near the tail end of 1939, just as the Spanish Civil War wound down with a Syndicalist (Socialist) victory, the Commune of France invaded Germany. Germany was weak and very disorganized (the AI is dumb; playing as the German Empire, while no easy task, isn't that hard either) and they got smashed. I sent a few regiments to help out but after it became clear the Germans had lost, I retreated back home.
I fortified my lines and awaited the inevitable French invasion. They pushed through the West with ease, being technologically superior and numerically superior to my battered Ukrainian forces. They had made it all the way to Kiev before I thought "you know, I am just letting them roll over me. The Russians didn't let Napoleon do this! If glorious Ukraine cannot be stronger than Russia, we have failed! I will fight, even if I lose. I will lose with such spectacle that all shall speak the name Ukraine!"
So amidst the cries of "Ukrayina" from the capital, brave militia were enlisted to drive the French off. My infantry on the front lines spearheaded counter attacks into (now occupied) Poland, Belarus, the Baltic States, and Northern Ukraine. The French, having over-extended their supply lines, failed. The Ukrainian winter of 1940-1941 also helped (I researched Winter Gear so my troops were barely affected). French armies two or three times our size were being pushed back, and the Ottomans arrived to fill gaps in the front. Before long, the Socialist armies (now comprised of France, Spain, and Britain) were split in two. Some French troops, Baltic troops, and Ruthenian troops were cut off in Minsk. The others where split in Poland. Meanwhile, the French had divided the German Empire into protectorates: Bavaria, North Germany, and Prussia. This would become key, as Prussia cancelled their military access to France, which allowed me to encircle the Socialist forces in Plock. The Kruschev Offensive (yes, I had a Major General named Kruschev) drove them from Warsaw with intense fighting and what started as a tactical retreat became an all-out flight. The Socialist forces were surrounded and seeing no way out, they surrender.
I must remind you, I had 24,000 men. They had 107,000. 107,000 men surrendered to a force much less than a quarter of their size. The French war machine was crippled. That was 2/3 of their army now in the toilet. I swiftly retook Ruthenia and the Baltic States and liberated them both. The map now looks like this:
[t]http://i.cubeupload.com/TA4LZH.png[/t]
I am currently gearing up to retake Germany. My troops are re-armed and my armed forces are growing in number. The Germans-in-exile control the seas, so I needn't worry about a navy, and I have help from the Ottomans and my protectorates.
Ukraine strong.

Send help I am kill.
I saw a decadence revolt invasion that had 4 event stacks, thought it was pretty ridiculous.
Whats dumb about Mongol conquests is that they force their religion on you and sometimes strip you of all your titles. There should be a mechanic where you can submit to them and become a vassal while retaining your independence/religion.
Pulling a Muscovy would be pretty fun
