I haven't played vanilla CK2 in forever. Since the patch broke things like CK2+ and most other mods, is the game still solid vanilla w/o Rajas?
So I played as the Petty King of Munster in Ireland for my first real game of Crusader Kings 2. My biggest problem is I can't do anything militarily. Munster starts with a claim on a nearby province but that province has more soldiers than you so any attempt at war will cause you to lose horribly. I'm using my Marshall to train more troops but it's not really affecting the number of levies I have. I also have the issue of my vassals hating me. For a place that is supposed to be super easy, I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I restarted the game at least 6 times to try to see if I just had a bad roll but nope, I always lose to this other province and my vassals and son always try to kill me. Any tips?

Usually even the cheap ones, those that cost 70 or 90 gold can be a huge help, but don't forget to get some extra gold so that you could pay off their monthly wages throughout the war (or at least keep them long enough to bash their armies away, then your levi can siege their castles at ease).
Good rule of thumb is to have enough for the hiring costs and at least 8 months- a year of wages

Have you all needed to hire mercenaries to do it? I would rather not since I will not need to do it often to unite Ireland and Munster is not exactly rolling in cash.

My vassals tend to not want to contribute much to wars.

I want to see a Jainist Golden Horde. Watch their heads explode.
I wish you could fabricate a claim on a title rather than a county.
I wish you could fabricate a claim on a title rather than a county.
You mean like ducal titles and stuff? It's possible because I faintly recall doing it before, and for king titles I'm sure it's technically feasible with invasion CB or something.
I wish you could fabricate a claim on a title rather than a county.
You can (rarely) get a claim on a ducal title (if it exists), but to fabricate for anything higher than that you need factions and plots, and to be within the title's realm... and I think you need to be a vassal of the title holder.
You mean like ducal titles and stuff? It's possible because I faintly recall doing it before, and for king titles I'm sure it's technically feasible with invasion CB or something.
I mean like I'm the Duke of Toulouse, and I see an independent Duchy of Provence next to me. Instead of fabricating on a small piece of his land, I'd rather fabricate a claim for the title Duke of Provence so that I can grab more than one hunk of land if I win. I'm currently married to the Princess of Jerusalem after a successful crusade to regain most of the Holy Land. Problem is, my wife is second in line to a son. I've got a plot going but my intrigue isn't very good and the people available for plot invitation aren't worth more than 24% power at the most (even if they were willing). Tips welcome.

Also, as an alternative (that I'm not sure may or may not work) you can also go around fabbing all the counties (or half since I think that's what you need for usurping a title) which lets you press all claims simultaneously. Then when you have the whole/half the dukedom under your control, you can usurp his title and reclaim the rest later (if you only do half). It would obviously be a better idea to do this with a young ruler since it could take a while and cost you a fortune though.

Just grabbed Sons of Abe for 50% off. Activating it and loading an old save breaks it, right? edit: it doesn't; awesome. [t]http://puu.sh/7OPI6.png[/t] Oh God...baby Jesus...what the fuck happened.
convert it to EUIV and send us the EUIV save. this'll be fun.
I believe he's running a map mod
So I'm trying to Mend the Schism but the Papacy still controls a couple of bishoprics and baronies in Rome. How do I take these with only holding the count title?
I wonder... ...do you have to be Orthodox to reform the Roman Empire? Or just have the Byzantine title
I wonder... ...do you have to be Orthodox to reform the Roman Empire? Or just have the Byzantine title
You need to be a christian faith. I think you can be any of the heresies as well.
It is finished! [t]http://i.imgur.com/cS7DjpL.jpg[/t] Good old Europe. While I initially paid it little heed while I played the Colonization game, vested interest formed once Denmark, Russia, Lithuania, Ilkhanate, Mali, Scotland and the HRE found it endlessly amusing to declare war on me, often all at the same time. In response, I've built up an army of seven 100k stacks with insane bonuses and Army Tradition. The leftover Force Limit was used for armies needed to protect colonies, conquer tribals and keep the Empire's subjects in line. I've almost played a thousand years of this Empire, now I'm wondering if I should find a way to export to Vicky 2 and continue from there.
I believe he's running a map mod
Conversion should still work as long as the mod doesn't mess around with de jure stuff.
Note: Using ruler customization to make yourself a Hellenic pagan advised only for EXPERIENCED players. (aka not me, apparently) Never seen Italians work so quickly or so cooperatively to get anything done quite like invading me.

They get NO special things, no holy wars, no shit. It's not fun, and you get no benefit at all from being one.
