Go to common/countries and open whatever .txt file you want to open. You'll see a crapton of names under unit_names.
that's just for divisions
I still like HoI3 very much, it's just that I can't stand the retarded AI. Maritime countries like Britain for example, never helps you or any other AI. In all these countless solo games I played, I at most seen Britain send 1 or 2 divisions to France maybe. This predictability counts for almost any other event and it is annoying as hell, it just makes feel the game very scripty. One sole exception was that Czechoslovakia made a stance one instead of getting annexed. I don't see this how this is going to be different in HoI 4, pretty sure it will be the same. I've been hungering for a multiplayer campaign with a bunch of people. It's just that everyone I know never likes these games. Multiplayer games like this one (7 players) are genius. http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/showthread.php?632509-Blitz-Carnage So yea, if anyone feels up for one.
they could've at least put the effort in finding at better way, but they'd rather release half-baked games i know Paradox Interactive aren't a top dollar huge studio but they could at least put the effort into making them stable and playable
You do know it's mods that use these kind of "hacks" right? Vanilla HoI3 doesn't use this. Not that your complaint isn't valid. Stuff like conditionals are still quite shite to do and you can't add for example an extra part to an event that only fires when a certain condition is met. I guess that you can also use the "split troops" function, but I'm fairly certain that that function just gives a percentage of all forces to another nation without being able to discriminate based on unit type.

Too bad that [sp]the Axis lost has lost, though.[/sp]
i'm aware that mods do this, but should I really have to turn to mods to feel like i'm immersed in the game?
Then why do you bitch about this if you're unwilling to use mods? And all PI games become a lot better when modded. There's just so much that e.g. PDM brings to V2 or something like M&T for EU4. Frankly, I don't think paradox games aren't for you. Maybe some sort of wargame is better for you?

Maybe some sort of wargame is better for you?
don't get me wrong i don't blindly hate paradox, i fucking love some of the stuff they've released but some aspects of what they have released do grate on me, but apparently i'm bitching about paradox in a paradox interactive thread and that's not allowed, so whatever i'm perfectly willing to use mods, but it makes absolutely no sense (logically) that most mods out there totally overhaul the base game instead of complimenting it, a prime example is events and decisions, both are very sparse and post-war options are limited, but mods like August Storm do very well in fixing that, there is way too much minimalism in terms of effort in creating immersion by Paradox. not saying that's not allowed, I just think the vanilla game should be chock full of features already, instead of being the skeleton it is i accept that paradox can't do everything, but personally i don't think a studio should leave most of the post-release "development" to the community, that's laziness but i'm glad they've improved since the release of CKII and they should be recognised for that, i've never installed a single mod for it, and whilst i might probably will out of interest, i don't feel any urgency to do so as CKII feels real enough already finally, i'm actually kind of glad we're talking about this because i do want to hear your opinion [editline]6th April 2014[/editline] going to explain why you think i'm dumb Frayyyy and PollytheParrot? backseat rating?
I swear to god, uniting Italy militarily was one of the hardest things I've ever done in EU4. [img_thumb]http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/795191337330106113/EC84E8351070C745812E02B7C8E6C238073CD1DE/[/img_thumb] I should have mentioned I did it as Naples...

Are you guys ready for Ultimate? http://www.moddb.com/mods/victoria-ultimate

so after "learning" the PU mechanics in a muscovy game, I got a PU over poland and hungary in by 1450 as austria. and I'm about to switch dynasty to france's after my ruler dies without an heir, and after that I can claim their throne [editline]8th April 2014[/editline] surprisingly my only rivals are castille, ottomans, and lithuania england + denmark + muscovy are neutral/friendly, so possible PU later once I get my relation # down
One of my favourite shops currently has a sale of various Paradox games and DLC's. I couldn't resist the urge and bought some EU4 and some expansions for both it and CK2 for about 18€. And then, out of curiosity I checked the price of the same stuff on Steam: 100€. And there go my Easter holidays.
Are you guys ready for Ultimate? http://www.moddb.com/mods/victoria-ultimate
..this looks cool, is it bad that I think this looks cool? [editline]9th April 2014[/editline] I'm probably gonna play it since it'll come out later tonight (for me) [editline]9th April 2014[/editline] Ok yeah I think the WMD format is actually pretty interesting and this is probably gonna get me back into Victoria 2. I just hope the modern age isn't a giant clusterfuck with stuff like Denmark declaring war on Germany in 2002 or whatever
Are you guys ready for Ultimate? http://www.moddb.com/mods/victoria-ultimate
I wonder how his so called "WMD" system works. Some of the screens show radioactive clouds over provinces [editline]9th April 2014[/editline] Oh I see, it is a decision. [t]http://media.moddb.com/images/mods/1/24/23943/2014-03-10_00004.jpg[/t]

I hate when you make create a second duchy while under a king or a emperor, and like instantly a ton of your fellow vassals plot to get it granted to a new ruler
I hate when you make create a second duchy while under a king or a emperor, and like instantly a ton of your fellow vassals plot to get it granted to a new ruler
Just use the autostop plots feature and suddenly it's like the plot mechanic never even existed.
Tried out "Ultimate". Not that bad. Might try a megacampaign from 1604 as Austria. There's a "Unite the European Union" event if you can get the capitals of a lot of EU countries. Once owned, you become the European Union as a singular state.

I like the daring regiment leader who decided to invade the channel islands while everyone else was getting invaded. "Why not"
Should I get Victoria 2?
