I'm having a good game of EUIV as Savoy. Feels good to be back into EUIV.
If only I knew how to play any of these, I'd probably enjoy them all.
They need to make the battles that your vassals get into against your enemys contribute to the warscore IMO. For instance, If the HRE declares a holy war for against my liege for some land that i control, I'd want to help him more than just the normal vassal levy that i give him but any battles I win don't contribute to the warscore (unless my liege starts the battle then i join)
If only I knew how to play any of these, I'd probably enjoy them all.
Watch some of Quill18's videos and just play. Don't afraid to lose wars or land, it's just part of the game.

Are they a vassal of the HRE?

I couldn't get this event to pop up because of a random merchant house in Italy with no actual territory. When I was invading the east I found the merchant houses barony/county in Sindh. After conquering that I got the achievment. Retinues are pretty ridiculous at higher techs. Max crown authority and nobody has any interest in rebellion.
Oh man That'd be a great conversion
I converted to EU4 yesterday but didn't get to play it much. I'm going to do another full CK2-Vick2 megacampaign like I originally intended to do when Rajas came out.
Pisa gone wild? Impressive that Croatia is still standing. Eu3 complete and Eu4 are currently 80% off on the humble store.
Alright that Savoy game was going great until I got into two wars. One was through my Alliance with Bohemia, and then the other with Aragorn. The Aragorn one was a nightmare. France coming in with doomstacks and just crushing me. THEN ARAGORN GIVES AWAY ALMOST EVERY SINGLE ONE OF MY PROVINCES. FUCK. THAT. France wasn't even directly allied with the people Aragorn went to war with, they were allies with the ally of the country that war was declared upon. and they became the fucking war leader. I think the War Leader mechanics need to be changed imo.
Go into the war menu and uncheck the "Let Warleader Negotiate For Us"* box. *It's named something like that, you'll see it, it's in the top right.
oh fuck, I forgot about that. Dammit, I feel like an idiot. [editline]11th May 2014[/editline] I still think they shouldn't allow the ally of the ally of the guy that got attacked to become war leader though. but that's just me.
How do you see if someone is a vassal(and modify their status) in EU4 with the scenario editor
Eu3 complete and Eu4 are currently 80% off on the humble store.
But CoP is still full price, damn. I just want the "support independence" diplomatic action, and I'd like to try playing as a colonial nation at least once, but I'm not paying 15€ for that.

Also, would it be better for someone new to these types of strategy to play CKII first or EU4 first? I own them both and I don't know which one would have a better introduction into them.
How can I edit terra incognita in a CK2 convert game for EU4? The fact that a nation like Norway can already see as far as India is rather bothersome to me. CK2 plays out differently than PI's other flagship games, namely the fact that you are playing a individual character rather than the disembodied spirit of a entire nation. And you'll mainly be dealing with things like intrigue and all that fancy stuff that goes along with it rather than the general gameplay of Eu4/other games like colonization, trade, warfare etc.
One of the thing I both like and dislike in EU4 is the ability to change culture of a province so easily. On one hand, it's very useful for keeping a stable game. On the other, I can't help but consider how you manage to "convert" a province's culture within such a short time; In EU3 I had a resettlement policy last for 300 years and the culture still never changed.

I mean, I get that it's necessary but it still feels weird to reduce forcible cultural conversion to just a convenient click and a timer
im glad you can convert it fast because it means i can eradicate iberians it's my goal every game
How can I edit terra incognita in a CK2 convert game for EU4? The fact that a nation like Norway can already see as far as India is rather bothersome to me. CK2
afaik you have to go in history/provinces/ and edit the "discovered_by = xxx" in every file. I don't know if there's an easier way.
One of the thing I both like and dislike in EU4 is the ability to change culture of a province so easily. I dislike EU4's culture conversions but at least there can be accepted cultures which tend not to get wiped out. In CK2 on the other hand the conversions are insanely fast and you end up with huge cultural blobs, which I find particularly annoying when exporting to EU4. As a result I've started to experiment with nerfing culture conversion by a lot, but the problem is also that since RoI vassals pretty much always accept to get their heir educated by their liege, which destroys their culture.
Culture needs an overhaul really.
Culture needs an overhaul really.
I always figured in CK2 given enough time a culture should fall into your culture group instead of outright changing to your culture right away. A prime example of who this would benefit is the Dutch; they're almost always wiped out into Germans or Franks, now they can instead be integrated into a culture group, which is what happens come EU3 and 4.
Sometimes converted CK2>EU4 games do that. But I think only with Empires. I've had World Conquest games converted where any surviving culture was part of the Empires culture group in EU4.
