What's the difference between VicII and EU4? From the videos I've watched, they seem really similar.
Vicky2: Population management, factory management, economy is much more sophisticated, soldiers gain experience through battle and generals gain prestige (From AHD onwards it's possible to lose prestige if you replace a popular one). There's actually no country leaders in a sense, just parties and government types. Technology is researched differently, and there's no worrying over monarch point dohickey. Westernization is completely different rather than clicking a button and waiting for eternity.
So at this moment in HOI4s development, they only plan on having 2 Start Dates, '36 and '39
We are doing '36 and '39. Any more and we wont be able to do those at high quality. The later scenarios are a huge drain on development resources and almost nobody play them, so we are going to focus on where 99.9% of games are started.
Wealth of Nations is most definitely worth it, it adds a shitload of features and improves loads of shit.

Maybe after a couple of patches, AE and Rebels are fucked sideways currently.
I feel like the free updates have kind of made the game a lot worse. It feels like the AI and rebels have just ruined the game completely now.
Rebels in Victoria 2 are the only rebels that I like in all of Paradox's games, even then the numbers get unrealistically screwed up.
Rebels in CK2 are the absolute worst imo. "Let's make rebels spawn as a single full-morale army without any forewarning in a game where you have no standing army!"

* That oftentimes have a larger army than you can ever hope to muster.

There's a new hotfix in the works according to Johan on the paradox forums. It reduces some rebel and AE stuff.
what eu4 dlcs are worth getting?
what eu4 dlcs are worth getting?
Conquest of Paradise & Wealth of Nations.
The others just give you some new events, portraits, units. It's mostly just visual.

you need the visual dlc for the immersion though
You don't necessarily need the visual DLC, but I wouldn't say it's anything to totally pass up on. Like other Steam DLC, just wait until one of the inevitable sales because you can pick up the entire collection of them for less than $10. Aside from a few exceptions, like the Mediterranean face-pack for CKII, they really help to make the game prettier.
i was kidding

I haven't bought Wealth of Nations yet but it looks worth its price.
Conquest of Paradise on the other hand... Besides the random new world, the other features are new native American mechanics, playable colonial nations and the ability to support the independence of someone's subject nation. So if you don't use the ugly random map it's rather weak for the 15€ price tag, and only worth getting on sale imo (I got mine from dlgamer yesterday, it's still 75% off).
Also I've heard that American Dream doesn't work properly since 1.4 and still hasn't been fixed, so don't buy that one.
I recently got back into Victoria II after a long-ass break. Really wish they'd make a new game in the series.

I wouldn't be surprised if Vicky3 would be their next announcement after HOI4 is out.
Didn't v2 sell badly?
Anyway I'd like them to do a new time period instead of doing the same one again. Something like the cold war or something sci-fi.
Hell, HoI3 can make for an ok space-rts with modding alone.

Please dont bring back the bad memories :(
Didn't v2 sell badly?
No?
The decision to create Victoria II was influenced by voting on the Paradox Interactive forums and debate within the company. The CEO of Paradox Interactive, Fredrik Wester, publicly announced his belief that the game would never see a profit while other members of the company such as Johan Andersson were confident it would be profitable. To this end Wester promised that if the game did indeed make a profit he would shave his head and post the pictures onto the forum.

No?
Mixed up my shit then, oops. Still think that out of all games V2 is the one that needs a sequel the least.
oh, nationalism slowly decreases until it is gone at the date
i guess that change makes more sense then the sudden drop from +10 to 0 nationalism
I wouldn't be surprised if Vicky3 would be their next announcement after HOI4 is out.
I wouldn't be surprised if they did EU:Rome before Vick3.
They did not rule out doing a Rome sequel. Nor did it do poorly in sales, so far the only region-specific games to do so was Sengoku and MoTE. It was only stated that Rome would neither be the Nero or Armstrong project back when that was still going on.

To be fair I would be perfectly fine with a Rome sequel over a Vicky 2 sequel.
V2 is easily my favorite of Paradox's games so far. A sequel would be really high on my wish list.

But there's so many more improvements you could make to Rome than Victoria, for better or worse.
power projection is so easy to keep above 100 when you have weaker rivals
I have over 150 power points from countries too weak to be my rival anymore

"1942"
slower by 3 years bro
apparently you get power points from declaring war on rivals and supporting rebels against rivals
