For five bucks you mind as well try it out. It's rough around the edges since it's so old, but it's definitely a different experience for different people.

Whats different between Darkest Hour and HoI3?

Too much to explain really, I'd recommend watching a video, unless someone who knows more wants to do a writeup.
Whats different between Darkest Hour and HoI3?
HoI3
-Shitload of provinces
-Limited diplomacy
-Not very much Post-war gameplay (kind of broken actually)
-No tech teams
-Military OOB
-Sophisticated logistics and supply system
-Most of the mods available are medicore
DH is basically just a polished better version of HOI2 with tech teams, ability to play 1914 startdate, not much of OOB or complex logistical and supply system sutff, and you have country sliders akin to EU3's country sliders. It has a better selection of mods as well, like Kaiserreich and Mixed Mod.
Darkest Hour will beat Hearts of Iron 3 any day of the week.
If HoIIV is more like HoI3, I'd shit myself in anger
you've been following the Devblogs right? it is more smiliar to Hoi3.

HoI3 wasn't bad cause of the features though, just how they were implemented. With how Paradox has been making games lately, I'm optimistic.
The main problem I hold with HOI3 is its inability to properly simulate peace time or global diplomacy, but that's more of a fault due to the surrounding time period. Best way to get around that sadly is through lots of events like Kaiser reich does.
thanks, is there a HOI3 mod that improves devision/army management? i gave up after taking most of western europe as i was spending all my time trying to reorganize my divisions as they were clumped into 20-30 stacks with massive debuffs
better off waiting until HoI4
although with the way they're going with 'xp points' and the inability to reorganise divisions i'm not sure

XP points is just a way of saying how experienced a unit is.

i understand as podcat put it as "battle reports" but i see a few flaws in the design
I say that Facepunch collaborates on making its OWN Victoria II mod, from scratch! Eat a poop, PDM and /gsg/ mod, ours will be FACETORIA II!
(But seriously though, if we made our own Vicky mod with our own events and such, it'd be so cool :3)
More resources.
More resources.
I too love broken economies.
Or make a mod with a country named "Facepunchland", name provinces after moderators and the people in this thread and add a special luxury resource called "Garry's Mod" which can be manufactured only using the resources found in the lands belonging to our glorious country.

babbys first mod
V2 game, USA lost a "Dismantle Empire" war against them, then the Civil War happened, since America had no military they accepted the CSA's peace deal immediately.

Got myself a nice ACW here. The USA is in a war with France over Bulgaria so the south actually has a chance.
[editline]nope[/editline]
Nope the CSA died in 1863.
I wish the CSA actually remotely stood a chance in most standard games. Having a whole starting date (and to some extent an expansion) centered on something favoring the one side so heavily is just kinda egh.
Yeah, the CSA is only viable if a player is controlling it.
Also in V2, Haiti is the best nation for Observing, no-one ever comes after you.

So in my game, Cherokee is independent, but they have no Cherokee pops at all.
So their culture chart is crazy.

Does anyone here know how to edit the maps of Clausewitz games? I'd like to add some things that the game doesn't have like Guantanamo to the US but Google doesn't return anything useful. By that I mean add new provinces if I'm not clearly saying it.

Pop Demand Mod has a slightly stronger Confederacy, and can hold out 30-40% of the time

Maybe if you start from the Civil War bookmark. I've never seen them put up a fight when starting from 1836

It's sort of a pain in your ass. You have to go into provinces.whatever and make a new color and draw your province, then you have to write a file for that province in history/provinces/whatever, then you have to go to region and continents.csv and add the province number there, and a bunch of other things I'm forgetting.
That was fun

And Japan?

What mod is that if you're using one?

I've played at least 15 PDM games from the 1836 bookmark the past few weeks.
The CSA held out a grand total of 0 times. I've seriously seen the Heavenly Kingdom win over the Qing more than the CSA over USA (but that's because the Qing Empire is so ridiculously shit that they end up with such a bad economy that they can't even afford an army and rebels will shoot up all over the place once things first start going bad for them).

This is the USA and the Soviet Union having a crisis over Karelia against Sweden (The owner of Karelia), France, Germany and Scotland. Because the SU has been beaten so many times it didn't turn into GW7.

Here is a world map from before the war. This is 100% hands-off.
Is CK2 worth getting in the steam summer sale?
