Does anyone know if Hearts of Iron 4 will have all the ministers of the previous games like Armaments Minister, Foreign Minister, etc.?
He is great, unfortunately the whole paradox going crazy on tweaks began when he managed to do that, they wanted to make sure no one can do that again and began to see even minor things as exploits to be crushed or removed
whenever paradox fixes an exploit or tactic he used to conquer the world, he only sees a wall that he'll break down.
i mean shit, he's going for Ryukyu world conquest for the third time right as we speak
Also the latest patch fixed how Vassal Independence war works, which is really sad. You can no longer DOW your master, then DOW 3 other nations, peace out with your master, and watch your master fall to the other nations.
I think I have an exploit of my own to fix that though!
Some more EU3. This time with the mod Civilization Universalis for Divine Wind.

I want a new Rome game from paradox
bring it on
I want a new Rome game from paradox
bring it on
I expect they'll announce a Rome sequel within the next few years. One of the devs didn't rule out a new Rome game happening back when the two Project whatevers were still going on, only saying it wasn't one of the projects.
found it

Anyone know how long national focuses last for in EU4? I'm in a mp game at the moment and nobody knows, we thought it was limited to one ruler but that is apparently not the case.
I think it's around 20-25 years?
Looks like it's even longer, like 30-40 maybe.
Does Res Publica add anything when playing colonial nations?
(Also are colonial nations actually fun to play before you revolt against your overlord?)
colonial nations suck tbh
colonial nations suck tbh
Overpowered. Colonies should be cash producing weights that require actual effort to defend and profit from.
Not self supporting nations that can throw a couple 40k stacks your way during a major homeland war. This just doesn't accurately represent these specific time periods that well.
Losing your colonies shouldn't be scripted events like the way it is now. Not being able to afford colonies and not being able to send over some troops to quell rebellions or send over ships to fight off pirates should be enough to represent the rise of independent colonial nations.
[editline]19th July 2014[/editline]
Never actually played as one but seems pretty boring, slowly colonizing while being tied to some AI that drags you into European mega wars.
I haven't played as one either but I know it made colonizing more boring in my eyes
not that I ever enjoyed colonizing the new world...but still.
The only reason I dislike colonial nations is that I can't evacuate Europe as the Byzantines anymore.
well you can if you just have your capital left and change capital before you have 5 colonies
I hate protectorates more than colonial nations cus earlier when there were no protectorates you could play as something in east asia (like ryukyu) and go to the new world and make vassals out of the natives, then gain cores there and start colonizing...which was awesome
then fun-police paradox had to ruin it by adding protectorates which nobody likes
The whole colonization system in EU IV sucks. things are colonized way too fast, seriously I shouldn't see Spain & Portugal own all of South America + the Caribbean by 1600, most of that land at the time was simply claimed by them and wouldn't be colonized for centuries.
Colonial nations are a neat idea but they implemented them in a ridiculous way, they shouldn't be running around with 40k troops and a navy that rivals most European powers.
The colonization system should be that anyone can make a claim, and if they enforce it it's theirs. The stupid distance system is silly too. If a ship can get there, it should be acquirable.
Yes, a claiming system for overseas provinces would be amazing, in fact it's pretty much needed in order to portray colonies probably, for example much of North America was untouched by colonists until the early 1800's yet the land was politically claimed by Spain, Britain, and France decades before that.
Bring back actual populations (eu3) style (So that China isn't shit) and have some kind of internal immigration system similar to that of Victoria 2. Create some mega colonies that can be used as a base for claiming land, etc.

Just seems to be hidden in the UI, or possibly just overall useless.
Honestly, I think ISIS should just take up a new hobby, such as playing CKII or Europa Universalis.
I mean, look at this map they put out of their conquest goals.

What saddened me the most is that almost everyone who saw that believed the fact that the map was taken from Victoria 2, not 1. Which, of course, makes things even more ridiculous.
It's been a while since I've played Vicky 2 so it's an acceptable assumption to make.
is there a way to revert to the earliest eu4 patch? I know if you click properties and beta in steam you can revert patches, but only as far as v1.3.2
is there a way to revert to the earliest eu4 patch? I know if you click properties and beta in steam you can revert patches, but only as far as v1.3.2
Nope, there's no legal way to download the earlier versions...
I see... maybe 1.3.2 will do then
Res Publica seems to add stuff from Victoria 2 that didn't get transferred over to EU4.
Wait i've been away for a week and have missed out on a few things, I thought Res Publica was supposed to be free?
Okay let's talk about the features of HOI IV.
(?)
No, seriously, does anyone else agrees that the system developed for air warfare is superb and a step forward in the right direction? It mixes micro and macro in a very good way. I wonder how they will do land warfare because I didn't see any kind of province indicator in the map picture.
i'm kind of annoyed right now at how they've proposed the divisional design
i want to be able to reorganise my divisions a la kampfgruppe, because it's what happened historically
