Humble store is having a big sale on Paradox Interactive games.
I'm new to paradox and am in my first real EU4 game as Austria. Things are going pretty well, It's the 1480s and I passed my first Imperial reform a decade ago. I haven't really done any expansion aside from vassalizing Trier in a peace deal because I don't want the AE penalty to slow reform, though that was probably a mistake. Oddly enough, France isn't the powerhouse it usually is and Burgundy owns about half the French region. My biggest allies are Castile and England at the moment. I've begun putting a heavier focus on increasing income (Temple spam) to support a larger army because I hate having to repay 2-4 loans after a decent sized war (is that normal?).
And then Burgundy (~40k soldiers) + Castile (40k) + Savoy declare on Lorraine. As the Emperor I (40k) answer the call to arms and see that France is already at war with them, but they're weak as fuck and losing every battle. England answered my call to arms, so hopefully they can at least beat back the Burgundian Navy (also p huge), but it's just not enough. Fuck. Any idea how I can minimize losses here? I'm taking out loans and hiring as many mercenaries as I can. The most obvious thing to do would be to defend Lorraine as long as possible to get a favorable warscore, but I'm pretty sure that'd just lead to massive losses and delay the inevitable.
Jesus Christ talk about humiliation, playing with a couple of FPers in EU4 mp, I warred Hungary as Bohemia and I got completely annihilated within a year because I failed to catch the fact they had the best general in the world, a whopping 4/4/4/1 and this is at the start of the game mind you.

Hunyadi kicks ass and takes names. So did the real one.
In V2 HoD what is the quickest way to annex a satellite?
In V2 HoD what is the quickest way to annex a satellite?
There's not any way outside of events (such as Indian satellites if you're the United Kingdom). I /think/ vanilla HoD also adds annexation events for uncivilized African countries if they're in your sphere. But there's no standardized way of doing it.
Also, speaking of Victoria 2, I suggest you get the POP Demand Mod; it improves pretty much everything on the game.

This shit has been popping up whenever I click on 'Play' probably since the latest patch, how do I fix that? I've obviously tried reinstalling etc.
Is it possible to skip the launcher or something?

Is it possible to skip the launcher or something?
Does it crash every time you try to play? For me it's like a 50/50 chance of CTD , just keep trying and it should launch fine.
To me it always crashed the first time launching, but after that it'll work fine.

Wow, you're probably right. I just tried launching the game and everything went smoothly on the first attempt.

Try not to touch anything before it starts loading (with the pictures and all). That way it's less likely to crash.
This thread needs to be far more active.
Very few things warm my heart more than Christendom uniting against heathens and infidels. (I'm Scotland) Fucking Gotaland used a prepared invasion on me ~ 60 years after fucking Norway tried it (but the AI bugged the fuck out when they tried to help so I jumped to control to give them a shove). This time around I let the game do its thing while I had a child-king and minimal levies.
England has offered to join the war against the Great Heathen Army!
Wales has offered to join the war against the Great Heathen Army!
So we stacked up and went to fight the GHA. Battle was going well but it was close. Suddenly dragon-prowed longships appear on the coast and another 4k stack appears and tips the battle in the favor of the heathens.
Ireland has offered to join the war against the Great Heathen Army!
Ireland's 7k stack comes to the rescue when we get caught recovering morale, lands on the county where the battle is happening like a day or two before our army was going to break and tips the battle in our favor. We went on to fully drive the Great Heathen Army from the Isles.
Recently, during my first (finally) playthrough as Kanem Bornu in EU4 I was being constantly bullied and attacked by Mali for over 200 years. I miraculously managed to survive and westernize, while they stayed at Sub-Saharan tech group until the end.
Then I converted saves to Victoria 2 and had my well-deserved revenge.

As a bonus have this totally unexpected beautiful blob:

Funnily enough Ireland (or the many small states that made it up) saved my Wales game from an premature game over when the Norse decided to launch an invasion against me. First Wessex joins, then Mercia, and Scotland due to a marriage alliance. The Saxons were as usual useless against the Norse and things started to look grim. Then all of Ireland joins up in one majestic unified army and runs a marathon to reach the deciding battlefield were my troops were just about to break as well.
The Irish have a habit of saving the Isles from Norse domination in my games, and its glorious

I had chipped away two counties from Ireland during my game and I've since considered just being bros and leaving it alone. Not England though. Still hate you.

Magnificent mod, excellent replayability because starts at 1310
No Op ottomans, or Poland-Lithuania, or unified France, or Emperor Austria, or huge Muscovy.I like that balance.
if it weren't for those nations I would have WC every game with any nation... is it still challenging ?

They've got the ones from Pirates of the Caribbean that can go underwater so you can't see 'em.

I just can't play the mod. It either won't start on the 1300s start dates (just default 1444), or if it does, all of the religion icons are messed up.
Tengri for Sunni, Shia for Buddhism, etc.
Mainly focusing on Ukraine and the area around it, later on probably fill in other related details. Im a fan of taking bite size chunks instead of creating huger projects that get never finished.

Ugh. Imagine a world where Poland holds so much German lands.
So I finished my game of Norse Sweden in CK2 in 1444, and converted the save using the in-game converter, but EU4 just crashes while loading?
Not even going to bother with making a custom map for it.
Nothing is final in that image, etc etc.
Going to be a tiny fast paced mod where you can unfold the events or go along with it, like sending or not sending Russian troops to Crimea, directly aiding the rebels or stopping Euromaidan before it happens.
looks quite good actually
although Darkest Hour doesn't really work too well with modern warfare, i.e. guerrillas, asymmetrical combat, NATO brigade-level organisation
but it looks promising
currently playing the soviet union for the first time on darkest hour
started with the 1940 scenario
playing it realistically, on the defense basically for the opening stages of the war

using the rivers as lines of defense

just an overview
strangely, germany decided to land one division in quebec

by the way, germany dow'ed me on the 4th of may, am i delaying them enough, or too little?
