Just tried a new mod called Occultus Mundorum for EU4.
It's pretty cool, practically an overhaul of the base game.

I had the same issues when I tried this run, but I was fortunate enough to have the German and Italian Karlings fighting. Your best bet when overwhelmed is to simply convert to Catholicism and have your son carry on your religion.
Playing mp with my brother. It's always nice to see a (although Catholic) Granada be successful at breaking away from Castille and actually annex them in one go.

You don't know what Bullshit is. On my latest EU4 game as Russia, the game decided to activate the time of troubles at the same time as I was westernising. I went bankrupt twice and my nation collapsed. What sick fucks made this game?
Historical immersion project is pretty neat, with the graphics overhaul and stuff, and you can choose which parts of the mod you wanna take.
CK2+ has that last feature too, but I cant say much more since I only played GoT and HIP as mods. I wasn't able to run CK2+.
AFAIK, CK2+ changes the game more, but I am not sure.

After a while you think of the young ones as prime assassination targets; hell, if you've got a beef with a particular character a great way to get back at them (and wipe out their line) is kill any children they produce.
Also young female rulers are great because you can marry sons to them and expand your family name, if not outright annex their thrones if the son is firstborn.

Don't worry, the guilt fades quickly
Soon enough you will be killing your OWN children!
Just started trying to get into Victoria 2. After only playing EU4 and CK2, I found the ui annoying, but not too big of a deal. I generally tend toward the expansionist side of things when I play Paradox games, and maybe that's where I'm running into problems. I tried playing as Japan and after two successful wars (Siam and Vietnam) I was being trashed by the British Empire and China is "Wars of Containment". What the heck am I supposed to do against that crap? Also, why are there constant revolts? I don't have problems wiping rebels off the map but they're freaking everywhere. When picking nations to play as, is it easier to learn to play small nations (like CK2) or large ones (like EU4)?
I really really hope Art of war makes more provinces in central Asia, it looks kinda messed up(Chagatai is screaming kill me kill me)
Any tips on playing as a Republic in Crusader Kings 2? The wikis are absolutely no help and all of the stuff I can find on the forums and whatnot don't make enough sense or are mega obvious.
How do I entitle land to my own Patrician house? If a city or piece of land is under the Doge title and not vassilized, if I lose the Doge title when dying, do I also lose that land? I don't even want to take over anything else because the rival patrician families just end up getting them.
Republic is pretty easy, just gather alot of gold.
you shouldnt lose land past the first 2 elections since by then you should have enough gold to win everytime.

Welcome to Vic2. A game where you can literally kill double your population in rebellions and it still won't deter them.
You people talk about assassinating your cousins and brothers; when my character gets old and grey and I'm stuck with gavelkind I just imprison the sons with the worst skills and straight-up execute them. I feel no mercy for them since almost every single AI has an intrigue plot going so they're mischievous little shits anyways.
I never try to eliminate my sons, even when I'm under gavelkind. I always get a young wife, concubines if I can, and make tons of children.

It's a socio-political game. If the population is unhappy with your current politics (i.e. if it's an authoritarian country with a high literacy rate), they will become rebels. The rebels are really poorly handled in the game, since they can amount to every single male population of your country and still revolt. In order to appease rebels, you need to keep your consciousness low (having high infamy contributes to this among others) and pass reforms unless you think you can take them on. Generally, though, they're just way too numerous if you have some country like Germany with revolts going on all over. Every time you attack a nation without a casus belli (or get discovered fabricating one) or add another war goal to a war, your infamy will rise. Infamy is a bit akin to aggressive expansion in EU4. Once it goes over 25, anyone can declare war on you.
I recommend starting out with a nation such as France or Prussia, since they're big nations where you can get a good empire going with relative ease. With Prussia you should be able to easily dominate the other German countries and form the German Empire, provided you know how to wage war. Generally speaking, expansionism is often only achieved through colonization and cultural unification, though you can still do general conquest if you're willing to take the infamy hit.
Also fuck Communism in the game. It's so dumb seeing France or Turkey become Communist just because they lost a war or two in the middle of 1880. The popular support for it isn't realistically that high, yet everyone and their mothers go full Marxist at one point or another.
If I'm playing pagan, I always use dispensable concubines
That is, keep her until she gives birth to a son, then send her back
Never had an issue with gavelkind this way, but I think this is a bit gamey, isnt it?
I don't know. I personally like to have a couple of spare heirs lying around just in case so the risk of having my kingdom/empire divided up seems like a bit much. I try to go with primo as quickly as possible. You could call your way "gamey" but I would just call it the culture of your people.

?
So what is peoples opinion on Victoria 2? I never see it discussed that much and its on sale for 4.49 right now with all its DLC on bundlestar. Considering buying it but i have no clue about it.
I like vicky, but the graphics and interfaces put me off from playing.

But all that content for that price seems like a good deal.
