Victoria is my favorite of the games, but some of its mechanics are really bad, namely the rebels. I also dislike how hard it is to organize an army, since rebellious troops will often tear through your numbers and force you to rebuild constantly.

CK2 and EUIII/IV gained most of my attention. I grew sick of EU IV very quickly though because of the bullshit rebels and punishments and pointless waiting. Surely they cant be as bad as EU IV rebels? R-Right?
So what is peoples opinion on Victoria 2? I never see it discussed that much and its on sale for 4.49 right now with all its DLC on bundlestar. Considering buying it but i have no clue about it.
I never was able to get fully into it, but for $5 you honestly can't go wrong.
Surely they cant be as bad as EU IV rebels? R-Right?
They don't die when you kill them. They get injured and revolt again.
They don't die when you kill them. They get injured and revolt again.
Jesus christ no thank you.
Surely they cant be as bad as EU IV rebels? R-Right?
They're terrible in their own rights. I've sort of figured out the rebels in EU4, but the ones in Victoria 2 are just absolutely unrealistic where millions upon millions of rebels can rise up in revolt and then all disappear in the blink of an eye the moment you pass a reform. The sheer number of rebels is always silly and if you have a remotely well-equipped army, you can kill hundreds of thousands of them with a 1:10 ratio of troops.
Jesus christ no thank you.
Rebels don't represent the population, so even if you kill them, your population won't change.
Are there any mods to balance said rebels?

I.e If you play as Prussia forming Germany is always your goal, if you play as Britain, basically all you have to do is sit on your empire and not fuck up, if you play as Sardinia-Piedmont then you're just given Italy around 1870-80 with no effort required. Sure there's Trade and Population systems but you can ignore these systems almost entirely and the game is still really easy to play.
Victoria 2 is great and is a must have with the expansions. The New Nations mod is a must have (pretty much a direct upgrade from vanilla,no reason not to have it) but you can also have pop demand if you must. Also are you sure about the population-rebel connection? It might be a pop demand thing but whenever I play as like Germany and Polish rebels pop up I always see a decline in the polish population of a province that is pretty obviously from the revolts.

Don't see how any vanilla would change that.
From my experiences I've killed off sometimes millions of people without seeing a dent in my population. Meaning, basically: You can kill hundreds of thousands of rebels in a single battle and see roughly 500 pop-drop. There's ways to change it.
That explains that time I was Ethiopia and had 90% of my population rebel, then killed them all and only lost about 20%. Basically the only way to actually commit purges/genocide in a Paradox game.
AHhhhh daaaaaamn it I just want VIC1:R military system In VIC 2 there's no glory in winning battles, the "ahhh damn I beat those damn mafackas with irregulars on rough terrain" is no longer there, and can't talk about doing a pro encirclement with cavalry....

Is there a mod like victoria fantasia for eu4?
The EU4 interface is atrocious compared to the EU3 one, makes everything seems more complicated than it actually is. Like could they have made the Diplomats/Merchants/etc more obscured? Things that were usually pretty clear and bright previously like the "Recruit regiments" and other buttons on the UI get lost in the darkness of the windows.
Is there a mod like victoria fantasia for eu4?
Ignore the rating on your post it was an accident. Stupid phone.

Cool, actually, feel like having new strategies at hand :D
Is there an editor for Clausewitz/Clausewitz 2.5 out there? I'm trying to get into modding for Vicky 2 and EU4.
Has anyone noticed that the steam page for the "Wealth of Nations" EU4 DLC has a translation mistake under the minimum sys reqs section? It says "eller" being the Swedish word for "Or" I know it's a really insignificant thing, but I was wondering whether I was the only one to notice.
I don't get the fucking V2 ai lol fascist, democracy and communist countries keep allying each other, I just had fascist Britannia ally themselves with USA lol, and Third Reich with communist India [editline]27th August 2014[/editline] Are there any mods that will allow me to make military organizations like NATO for V2?
iirc there is
there is? what's the name of it
Album of pictures with some commentary from the CK2 Charlemagne stream A few things referenced in the livestream without accompanying screenshots:
The expansion is confirmed to NOT feature Cadet Branches, Germanic paganism, or Celtic Christianity. The free patch released alongside the expansion will include the new tribal system, a revised decadence system for Muslims, Elected Gavelkind succession and the weather system. The customisable kingdom system is DLC only and allows you to upgrade a duchy into a nameable kingdom title that will over time grow to become a de-jure kingdom. As for the future: Paradox have repeatedly stated they will NOT focus on China for the next expansion. They would like to add Cadet branches and a new UI soon™.
not sure how I feel about assassination's being nerfed...

It doesn't have to be a super-complex event, and it would add a lot of flavour to the early starts.

We need to have an Eu3 like storybook for when we exit to the menu. [editline]29th August 2014[/editline] Don't get me wrong. I liked reading those.
