Who ended up getting East Prussia? Also, that would be a really interesting world for an alternate history timeline. Communism AND Fascism are defeated in WWII and democracies prevail (except for Africa which is still fucked over as usual). What will lead to the divisions in the world that create the next global conflict? Damn, I wish we had East vs West and could convert our HoI games over to it.
Pics please!
Well, I have yet to take many pics but here is a small album from Operation: Taco Fever. So as an update, I save scummed until the UK didn't declare war. Things were great for a while, but the Red Hydra gradually strengthened its grasp on our defenseless nation. It started with the Revolution of 1871. Despite the nation still reeling from the Civil War, over 300,000 socialist rebels armed themselves and attempted to overthrow the government. The Army of the Potomac made a valiant defense of Washington and, through a brutal year-long campaign, federal forces succeeded in restoring order to New England. Sadly, more rebels rose up in arms, further complicating the issue. The Revolution lasted until early 1873. Dissenters and socialist sympathizers were hunted and executed as the military tried in vain to silence the wretched commie bastards. Hot off the heels of the uprising, the election of 1874 began. The Conservative Party, in all her glory, could not hold on to the misguided American people. The Socialists used deceit and trickery to manipulate the election into their favor. Even the Liberal party had a low turnout. The Socialists stole the election, with an obviously rigged 81.3% victory. This election fraud would not stand. General Caldwell, commander of the Army of the Potomac, declared the election false. The Army stormed Congress and demanded the surrender of the American Socialist Party. The Socialists did not oblige, and their loyal supporters quickly besieged the army in the Congress building. Soldiers tried to maintain civility, but the dirty commie traitors would not accept that their party was fraudulent. They assaulted the soldiers en masse, who had no choice but to fire upon them. Nearly 13,000 citizens died in Washington D.C. Caldwell declared this a military coup d' etat until order could be restored. Caldwell chose Colonel Ambrose to be the new transitory president. But the Reds would not be deterred. Over the next year, a socialist front calling itself the "Sons of Liberty" use terrorism to try and remove our rightfully government. Their actions once more brought us to the brink in 1876, when another uprising erupted. The Spring Uprising lasted only 3 months. US soldiers pacified the Midwest in a bloody campaign, but many thousands died in New England. Despite the federal troop's many victories, more misguided individuals took up arms, resulting in an endless cycle of chaos and death. Finally, 400,000 rebels marched on Washington, hung Ambrose in front of Congress, and declared a new "republic". 156,000 federal troops and 32,000 Mexican troops marched to Washington too meet them. The strength of the new republic was tested. The troops clashed, first outside the city, then inside it. It remains the single bloodiest battle ever fought on US soil. The Battle of Washington DC is often cited as a defining moment in US history, like that of the Battle of Pocatello against the British invasion in 1847. It was a bloody slaughter, but the rebels finally surrendered and handed over the powers of the federal government to General Ford. Ford had a tough situation ahead. Socialist sympathies were still high, despite the loss of around 1 million individuals in the last 2 revolutions. The "Sons of Liberty" were still an active terrorist group, especially in border territories or the colonies in Columbia. The nation's economy was ruined, with many workers outright refusing to work until the passing of minimum wage laws. Some factories were destroyed in riots and would need rebuilding. The nation's army had grown to large for tax revenue to support, and the newly elected Congress would not allow President Ford to raise tax levels for fear of another revolt. Despite being traitors and bastards, the new congress and president were forced to cope with the fact that they must appease the commies, so a motion made during the Communist Provisional Government to increase minimum wage was carried to get folks back to work. Factories were restored, and gradually more freedoms were allotted to the people. The military budget was slashed, allowing soldiers to work in the now-vacant factories. The Sons of Liberty finally ceased their reign of terror when, in 1879, Congress declared elections for the first time in 5 years. President Ford stepped down and President Burnes was elected. A Liberal majority won in the congress, mostly due to the banning of the ASP. In 1880, the Congress of Rome decided that colonial actions in Africa were fair game, setting off the scramble for Africa. America would not be outdone. Needing a colony for the many prisoners left from the revolution, as well as a place to deport socialist traitors, the US sent its vast army to conquer much of West Africa. Although the European empires already got the prime share, the US managed to gain a decent sized penal colony. Guatemala was also annexed under muddy circumstances. The international community decries the Sea of Costa Rica incident as a "false flag" operation, it was clear to any true patriot that Guatemala was reviving old, imperialist desires of owning Central America after the Federal Republic of Central America shattered. And so there we stand.
I always get jealous when I see people pulling off great naval victories in HOI/DH while everytime I play my fleets, no matter how large or good they are, get annihilated within seconds of a war starting with a nation with anything that resembles a Navy. Also I remember when people would post their HOI2 AARs in the GGD, is that still allowed or do they have to be posted here?

Hungary: Partitioned by Spain (me) and France Japan: Australia (They own the Tokyo area and the majority as they actually invaded the home islands.) East Prussia: Me (Planning to add an independent Prussia ala Danzig) Syria and Lebanon: Me, upgrading the infrastructure and industry then releasing them as puppets. Also communism isn't quiet dead, Soviet Union still has an enclave while Brazil and Austria still lean heavily to it as well. Romania also seems to be the last facist state left. I honestly haven't payed attention to whats going on in South America so there could be more facist/commy dictators. Also annoyingly there is no state of japan so releasing them as a puppet make them go greater Asian co-prosperity sphere mode still :v:
Boot up HoI3, first serious '36 game as Turkey. Align to Comintern. AI control over everything except Diplo, Production and Armies. Make some Cav , some Inf divs, then focus on Industry. As 2 IC take 2 years of time while wrecking my Production, I decide invading some poor balkan country could be easier. Prepare for war, get a nice order of battle with corps and armies, then Crash. Is it this frequent or did I do something wrong.
Rule 1 of all Paradox games: Put autosave on at least every year, every month if you're paranoid or the mod you're playing is crashy. But for HoI3 with all expansions crashes are rare. In vanilla they were more common iirc.

dat abbasid blob
Whenever they make the next HOI/Victoria I hope to god they'll allow EUIV porting So once charlemagne comes out you can rule a country from 700 AD to the modern world war period. Fucking yes.
But at that point, there would already have been an undisputed de facto winner.
If one were to attempt a WC/blob everywhere, sure. When doing megacampaigns its better to restrain yourself and level the playing field to give the AI a chance to blob themselves, I think it's more fun and challenging that way.

Only holy war if you're zealous, follow your traits (torture if cruel, never release if cruel, release if kind, etc.) and so on.
When ever people have the audacity to request better prison quarters I always send them to the oubliette. Never release, never ransom, no matter the charge. Had a lady in my prison for 60 years once.

I wish prisoners didn't show up in your court. I hate scrolling past like 30 people to get to a holyman i invited.
Oh, I only ransom if I'm greedy, it's kinda funny. If it's denied, I execute them.
Who elses believes blobbing in EU and CK feels more rewarding? I mean, you seize more from your enemies than in the modern periods games. Its like the political and economic changes don't make military conquest THAT much fun. Except when you can core some stuff like when playing as Austria or Germany, else is...so...dull? Paradox should try to make a 4X game based around the Clausewitz engine and following those mods that make you start in one province etc etc with random territories. I know, it would take a fuckton of effort, but it would be so revolutionary and great..
I usually end up stopping a game when I blob too hard. It's no fun at a point. I keep telling myself I need to play CK2 like Zillmaster said a few posts up, and one of these days I'll do it. Stats are just too shiny!
But at that point, there would already have been an undisputed de facto winner.
Huge, blobby empires aren't that fun. In my last playthrough of CKII, I started as a Spanish duke and at one point I had control of all of the Iberian peninsula, the entire HRE and a few of its surrounding territories, as well as the entire Byzantine empire (long story). I didn't hold on to the non-hispanian territory for very long because it would have been a pain to manage and frankly unrealistic. So instead I just disbanded both of the other empires and went on my merry way.
One fun way to play EU4 is to roll a random country every 100 ingame years and try to be as successful as possible with each country you end up with. Usually i'll re-roll if I end up with a Native American country or something though.
I've been thinking of doing a game of CK2 wherein I play as the youngest landed member of my dynasty every time my character dies. I'd try my best to RP to their traits, too. The only issue is choosing a place to start. I played for a little while as a zoroastrian count in Norfolk in 1066, but it didn't really hook me, and I trunked it.

So, what is currently the 'best' mod for vicky 2? Still /gsg/'s mod?
So, what is currently the 'best' mod for vicky 2? Still /gsg/'s mod?
NNM is also an option, if you're looking for a cleaner experience.
I can't seem to find a link to /gsg/ mod on the /vg/ OP, was it renamed?
I'm attempting a Us Victoria II playthrough in which I make the US into Republican paradise. It is ultra-jingoistic (I have invaded Mexico at least 3 times), ultra-conservative, ultra-religious, and completely evil.
So you're trying to play the U.S as historically as possible? that's neat.
