When did they add this?
It's been there for a while. If your wife is ever "ill" while pregnant, there's a good chance she'll croak when your kid is born.
p sure it depends on your characters starting traits
That would make sense.

Seems like martial stat is p irrelevant

The highest I've ever seen is low 30's

I used the ruler designer, actually.
It's a real shame. I wanted to download that "Ruler Designer unlocked" mod and do a world conquest with my 500 martial ruler.
Alas, it's not to be.

I wish there was a way to poison/infect your wife with a illness on purpose so you can get rid of her quicker after you get your heir.
Last thing I need is for her to pop out 2 more sons and fuck up my oldest heir power hold on the kingdom.

have you ever played the game before?
Get Kaiserreich
Got it! Have no real idea what the mod is about, but on every single thread on other forums Kaiserreich seems to be brought up whenever DH is mentioned.

yeah but most of the time i get discovered/can't get the support. :(
yeah but most of the time i get discovered/can't get the support. :(
really? pretty much every time I want to kill the wifey I can easily get like 600% support
Alternate history stuff. And for a mod its pretty solid and well done.
It's probably the best out there, probably because it's so stable.
But then again, isn't it still using the mobilisation system from 1.02?
The funniest part about the Abbasid blob is that you cannot plot to kill anyone in the empire. The plot chance is always awful and nobody ever wants to kill one another.

Crusader Kings 1.
Note: Crusader Kings 1 had a lot more realism in terms of raising children and disease in the middle ages. It used to be common for women to have 5 or 6 children and half of them dying as infants, while it was way easier to fuck up parenting too while getting injured was often a death sentence, etc.
Apparently much of this was changed for Crusader Kings 2 because it was their first title reaching a mainstream audience so you don't want it to be too depressing and real.
I love it when my vassals expand my kingdom for me by invading pagans.

Yeah I remember reading comments back when CK2 was released that people were complaining about the realism.
I think I just missed the memo that they were adding that stuff back in.
Oh my God I am having way too much fun with Kaiserreich. Like, there's shit that happens that I do not see coming from a mile away at all.
In one game, German Africa goes Syndicalist and swallows up the rest of the continent thanks to the shit decisions the German AI made. Tsarist Russia enters a three-way war with Soviet Russia, Siberia, and Finland. MacArthur crowns himself king of America after winning the civil war. Japan (played by me) is the only country to go down a path eerily similar to WWII: militarism all the way. Napoleon's descendant takes over in National France and somehow conquers all of France way before the Germans can. And Mein Kampf, written by deceased soldier named Adolf Hitler, becomes a bestseller in Germany.
And what the fuck is Haiti doing conquering Cuba
It's satisfying to fuck up the AI's name placement. Suck it, Castilian dogs.

Pardon my various started-but-not-continued- ironman games, I don't do them often. Unfortunately, in ensuring my survival at the start, I allied Portugal and the BBB, leaving the former to dominate North Africa and a bunch of colonies in random New World and the latter to warmonger hard to eat everything in sight. I will say though, that France has saved my ass many times, especially from the goddamn ever-emperor Habsburgs. They've even come marching down from Ile-de-France to kill some ungrateful asshole revolts. Occasionally they'll insult me for some reason despite the fact that I keep them as close to 200 relations as possible. They called me into essentially an early mass European war with England, Austria, Castile, Portugal, myself and the pope involved and almost immediately after I accepted despite my war exhaustion, they insulted me.
"Hey, you're helping me out? Go fuck yourself."
Meanwhile my 32 year-old king refuses to make babies and has me in danger of being forced into a PU under either France or Austria. That'll be a war to remember.

Holy shit Portugal is balling out of control.
And is Poland being devoured by Lithuania?

I would've expected it to be more to do with the fact that more characters, dead or not, results in slowdown.
If there were twice as many children in the game, but the same number of kids lived to adulthood, the game would still need to deal with twice as many characters.

Yeah, Portugal immediately declared war on Morocco every time a truce was up and would just carpet siege and demand like 4 or 5 provinces every time, ignoring AE. Austria has kicked the Ottomans' collective ass twice now, with Bulgaria being released as a sovereign state (only to be re-devoured by kebab because it was a Muslim state all alone) and recently Bosnia as a sovereign state. I'm scared of Austria, but France'll keep me safe for the most part.
Also, Muscovy rivaled me for some reason.

France pls stop.
Well later in this worldish war the French beat the Austrians in a very decisive battle and I have carpet sieged Castile. Problem? I (personally) have -1 warscore, so I'm gonna get a nice truce out of this war despite having kicked my rival's ass.
Holy fucking shit. France just gave me a province in a peace deal.

There was a system in CK1 where the game saves would automatically delete characters that had no living descendants in order to cut down on lag (early versions became unplayable sometimes if you went on for too long).
The result would be courtiers, dead children, minor families, extinct houses, etc being removed which worked fairly admirably. I'm not sure how it works in CK2 however.
Playing as england in EUIV, taking over scotland goes smooth, ulster and munster are both vassilized. and then Austria begins leading a personal union over me. fuck this

Every single time it's this fucking dreadful strip of land.
What are some good ideas for formable nations for Eu4? Once I get my PC back I'm gonna do some modding.

I think dead titleless courtiers with no family are deleted, but that's about it.
In the end having a low fertility rate is pretty much the same as having a high child mortality rate anyway (especially if the children are deleted afterwards).
A source of confusion in the past has been the way war leaders change during wars. You’ll declare war on Poland, who calls their ally Russia, only to find that Russia takes over the war and calls their ally France… with no indication in the declare war screen that this would happen.
The system of declaring wars and choosing the war leader changes has been majorly altered in the upcoming 1.8 patch. War leader changes will now only happen under exceptional circumstances - mainly, when a subject calls in their overlord. Since this allows you to get around some thorny alliances by declaring on small allies, we’ve introduced a penalty for taking things from allies in a war. Vassalizing, taking provinces, releasing nations etc on allies now costs double the warscore, since they are not the formal target of the war.
However, you can get around this penalty by declaring the ally of an enemy a ‘co-belligerent’ when declaring war on that enemy. When you have declared an enemy a co-belligerent, you can take things from them at the normal cost, BUT they will be able to call their own allies into the war (as normal allies). So, in the situation above, Russia will only be able to call France if you declare Russia a co-belligerent in your war against Poland. If you don’t, you won’t have to fight France… but declaring war on Poland to try and take things from Russia becomes very inefficient.
Additionally, to give small nations with large allies a degree of protection, you will no longer be able to gain 100% warscore just from occupying the warleader unless the war has been going on for at least five years. This means that if you attack Ulm and they call in France, you can’t end the war in a couple months by assaulting and annexing Ulm.
Finally there’s also been some improvements to the declare war screen where you can now see if enemy allies are expected to join or not, and various fixes of situations where it would display your own allies as willing to join but they’d end up dishonoring or joining the other side.
My dreams have come true.
I'm trying to create the Empire of Abyssinia in CKII, but the only way I can do that is to take Egypt away from the Abbasids. This is my realm as of now, and to give you an idea of my military strength compared to the Caliph's, he can raise ten times as many troops as me (3,000). Any advice?
