Every time I read about Art of War somehow I get even more hyped.
I'm trying to create the Empire of Abyssinia in CKII, but the only way I can do that is to take Egypt away from the Abbasids. This is my realm as of now, and to give you an idea of my military strength compared to the Caliph's, he can raise ten times as many troops as me (3,000). Any advice?

Assassinate him until a weak and disliked ruler takes over. Bonus points if rebellion/civil war.

Won't work. Even with high intrigue nobody ever wants to kill the Caliph post-CM, especially if you're non-Sunni.

invading while a crusade is happening perhaps? Unfortunately you can't convince the pope to call one as a non-christian, like Emperor Alexios I did for the first crusade.
Save up and spam mercs.
Definitely gave me some good ideas. Thanks!
Is charlemagne worth spending another 15 bucks on CK2 for?
I've probably spent atleast 100 dollars on it at this point. not worth it. It's a great game but I wouldn't buy a 9/10 game for 100 bucks.
no

Try sowing dissent or try converting to a Christianity, although being Christian and alone there is probably not a good solution.

Ethiopians are already Christians.
Anyway, I would consider expanding into the Arab peninsula itself. Yemen is generally rather weak.
Wat do as greece in eu4

This has always been my problem with Paradox. They essentially sell you a barebones product with so much taken out of vanilla, then repackage all the shit that should be the in the game as DLC.
Some of their expansions are good but it feels like a lot of the expansions (and especially the small shit like cosmetics and music) just feel like rip-offs. You mean to tell me none of that could have been in a free update? Same thing goes for when they come out with DLCs that include new mechanics. It is nice that they are supporting a game but once again, is it really that substantial to warrant a $15-$20 DLC? Hell, it should have been in the game to start with. You can't possibly tell me it isn't bullshit that you couldn't play as pagans or merchant republics in vanilla CK2?
If any other company used these DLC practices, they would be crucified. I give companies shit for having $100 priced games+DLC, let alone DLC that is actually priced at over $100 dollars, not including the game. That is War Thunder levels of DLC milking bullshit.
[editline]assbutt[/editline]
I mean, holy fuck all the DLC for CKII alone is $166.
It's funny thinking that without any cosmetics, all of the people in CK2 are either germans or arabs.

Interesting.

You have to pay to be black in ck2
tfw your son with shitty stats becomes king, and then promptly loses the war you started as his father and is imprisoned.
then he ransoms himself out after several years and has to deal with a unstable poland, one of his high chiefs took his sister as concubine when he invaded a allied land during said son' imprisonment.
you make poland stable again, continue expanding, have a son, kick the shit out of the people who imprisoned you. 2/3 of poland, 1/2 of pomerania, and a little of lithuania are under your control by the time you hit old age.
you subjugate the county of werle, you outnumber the enemy 5 to 1. your son commands the center with you on the flank and the enemy is on the run.
your son dies and you are the last living member of your dynasty.
there goes taking back all the polish lands and reforming the slavic faith.
I actually just recently got Rajas of India and Sons of Abraham and it brought my love for CKII back. I was really fed up with having to pay for the little shit but I just waited till that recent Paradox sale awhile ago and copped them both. RoI is amazing and tons of fun but Charlemagne just doesn't really interest me. I'll just wait till the Xmas Sale :D

Forming Iberia as Castile, Spain, Aragon or Portugal by owning all the following (grayed) provinces:

I'm playing Darkest Hour with Kaiserreich as UK. God damn Commie Australia managed to sink most of my battleships. Was like Pearl Harbor except in Plymouth instead. No idea how they got their planes there.
I'm researching nuclear technology tho. They're gonna eat it hard.
Was playing some of the Modern Age Mod as China.
You have to use cheats to be able to build factories. Seriously. One region has 85,000 unemployed workers from the start.
Now multiply that by about...all of your fucking regions
[editline]27th October 2014[/editline]
Also literacy is at 9% which is frustrating as fuck

The low literacy feels like something they should have fixed if it takes place in modern time.

They're having to do a fuckton of work on the side though.
They've made most countries 99% homogeneous so they can put culture off to the side while they code in events and such. Honestly, I can't blame them.
They plan on doing culture pops, literacy and other things like that once the bulk is done. It takes some serious man hours to mess with culture in the Victoria 2 sense.

The game is Crusader Kings, on the box it promises the ability to play a Catholic king. Anything past that is purely a bonus, Islam, republics, India, and face packs and music especially. The independent game works fine on its own, and it's obvious that this stuff wasn't 'cut out.'
I'm not saying I like it but that's just an unfair accusation.
Yeah the game was complete, fun and playable on release and had plenty of content. No one's forcing you to buy the content that was released and there's such a massive amount that it's unreasonable to expect to get it all for free, although I'll be the first to admit it's pretty pricey.
Man, Friday is so far away. I just want my Art of War.
Good news too is that this seems like a relatively essay free weekend. I also get paid on Friday.
