Ottomans build a fuckton of galleys now. RIP Byzantium.
So I got that metal music pack and my god that is a glorious way to look at all the map changes.
10/10
EU4 MP is borked right now. We wasted a few good hours trying to start a game with 30 people and game immediately crashes after a few ingame days. After a while we tried it under 10 with a different host and same deal.
Someone said in the game chat, that on the forums someone allegedly said all players need AoW dlc to work now or something, really hope it isn't true.
e: saw this thread and it's just a bug overall

Have fun if you ever want to try Vicky 2 or HoI 3
Today a friend of mine pulled out his laptop in a lecture and tried playing HoI3 for the first time.
He spent the entire 2 hour lecture trying to figure out how to play it.
at the end of it I told him he'd be better off playing eu4 and ck2.

victoria 2 can't be that bad.

Oh it is
Just saw a performance of Macbeth, now I want to play some CKII.
When I read Macbeth in my English class Junior year I bought CKII late one night instead of doing my homework on Macbeth, figuring it would be close enough.
The circle is complete I suppose.
So forming the Kingdom of Jerusalem as Knights retains the theocratic government type. Don't think I'm gonna do a game for that yet though, since it would be decades of doing nothing and waiting for the Mamluks to erode.
Trying to decide on a German minor to play and then fiddle with Marches. Thinking Hesse, Palatinate, Bavaria (not so minor), or something else.
Because of the Macbeth thing I was bored and went back in the thread to try to find my first post in this thread, as I started posting here soon after I got CKII.
Posted the day after I got the game (I got it late at night on the 22nd, that post might have been made early in the morning though). I apologize to anyone who cringes.
I was able to date it as I posted on the 24th of April that I had gotten the game that Monday night. It's almost as if I saw into the future and knew that future me would need to know the exact day I bought Crusader Kings II.
Art of War is amazing
The new rebel & autonomy mechanics are a great (and much needed) addition, the new reformation is vastly improved over the old model, the new provinces, nations, and countless NI add a lot of life to the game, and all the little tweaks and new features like upgrading fleets make it feel a lot more polished and enjoyable overall
The only major complaint I have is that it lags and stutters like mad, even in 1444 the performance is very sketchy
I haven't felt this wrapped up in EUIV since launch. I started a game in 1444 as Ethiopia. Some of the most fun I've had in the game. Seriously, these new war mechanics for allies are making it a much more strategic and fun experience.
For example, Yemen had declared war on me to take a province. The Mamluks and so many others ass-rape me and Yemen gets their little province. However, Yemen made the mistake of allying themselves with one of my rivals, whom had no allies other than Yemen. Since Yemen would not call in their allies if they are not a co-belligerent, I would have no trouble facing them and my severely weakened rival. Mainly since Yemen's only route to me was to the province they had taken from me, since it has a crossing. My ally that I invited to the war helped fight off my rival, and I was able to take Yemen's province back (my real overall goal, since Yemen had a fuckton of allies) and to further batter my rival.
That would have been impossible before since all of Yemen's allies would join them, and allies of allies etc...
seriously, this was such a needed and fun change.
Eu4 is linux compatible right? I was able to get a computer working with Ubuntu.
I really wish there was a mod that split up protestant groups.
Church of England/Anglican
Carolean
Lutheran
etc. etc.
Austria is allied with France. This is not okay.
What pisses me off about the HRE is that they're always willing to elect a child as emperor, if only to vote for goddamn Austria.
edit: Oldenburg has a three star general in 1466. Oldenburg.

So I started a ck2 game in the old gods start, just wanting to play humbly trying not to get huge for once, so I start as the solely independent Greek duke in Naples. As I play I watch in horror as the Karling in Italy inherited kingdom after kingdom from his relatives, effectively recreating Charlemagne's Empire. Shot off a marriage request to him to keep him from squashing poor humble me and focused on holy-waring Sicily. What could possibly ruin my humble game?
Well for starters the Mega-Karling died, but had no sons and the nearest karlings are extremely distant from his line, so his empire went to his closest living relative, his grandson through his sole daughter. That grandson happened to be the son of my previous character who married that daughter solely for protection. Suddenly and without warning, while my guy's only ambition is to become king of Sicily, is immediatly crowned a six-time king and in direct control of the equivalent of this thing plus southern Italy.
I only wanted to take it slow this time instead of being the greedy conqueror as usual.
So of course I inherit Europe :v:
I love EU4, spent hours on it, but a couple of months ago I picked up CK2 and the DLC and haven't looked back since. I don't know if it is the fact that you are tied to a specific person/dynasty that makes it more personal, or how more hands on everything feels, but CK2 might be one of the most addictive games I've ever played.
I mean I'm nowhere near proficient enough, lots of mechanics I still don't fully grasp and trying to figure out how/why you are going to lose land playing as a Norse raider from the Charlemagne start is melting my brain but god it is good.
The Crusader Kings 2 savegame converter no longer works.
Not for the faint of heart, EXTREME GORE.
