Problem is my vassals get pissed at me because I am raising their men too long, but my personal army is too small to take on the enemy. So I have to use Holy Order people or hire mercs.
So they get pissed at you, so what. There's a good chance nothing will come out of it and the negative relations will melt away eventually when you disband them. Since you're already using their armies, it's not like they'll have a successful revolt anyway since you're the one depleting their source of manpower in the first place.
Is there a video series or a good site that will help me learn this game a bit better?
The best way to learn a Paradox game is to simply play it. You can't exactly teach someone how to play them, but there are LPs' and the like that people find helpful to learn along the way.
I was just chugging along and then suddenly... The hapsburgs are so good at this thing they just inherit countries without having a PU, just out of thin air. What the hell?

Five years into one of my games, they just flat out inherited England and Hungary-Croatia at the same time. Just said nope and made a new game.
My game is glitched and none of my boats are longships, anyone know of a fix?
I was installing Elder Kings, and it kept saying something about a custom song, So I don't install the songs, enable the thing that didnt require the rome thing, But when I played it it says something about a run-time error.
So turns out, my 79 year old Norse King of Scotland was the best fighter of all time. [t]http://i.imgur.com/HLzP4QM.jpg[/t] Pretty good for a guy with no bones.
Which paradox interactive game is this? I've only started recently playing Hearts of Iron but this looks pretty interesting.
Which paradox interactive game is this? I've only started recently playing Hearts of Iron but this looks pretty interesting.
I assume its Crusader Kings 2.
I assume its Crusader Kings 2.
Ah, thanks.

I'm afraid we're stuck waiting until the mod team updates it.
I've figured out a way to get around the new gavelkind system. Every time you have a new son that's so and so in the line, FUCKING MAKE HIM A BISHOP :buddy:
Gavelkind isn't new. If you're playing as a Pagan than dealing with Gavelkind is incredibly easy to deal with since you can simply use concumbines. Use the concubine to produce an heir and than discard her. Also, don't create too many kingdoms. Maintain a single kingdom/Empire so you don't have too much divisions.

In my current Norse pagan Empire of Britannia, my previous emperor had ten children and two kingdom titles, and he died at 40 because I always made him lead the army even though he had like 9 martial. And my dynasty is Norman while pretty much every vassal is still Norse. Civil wars make things interesting. I already lost my kingdom once when I was just king of Scotland but I took it back. And if I really loose everything and I'm reduced to a duke I'm going to launch a prepared invasion and make a new empire somewhere else. Going on an endless conquering spree while using gamey tactics to keep the realm stable gets boring after a while. At least playing as a Christian requires some effort to get CB or inheritances and it keeps things interesting, but pagans and Muslims get free CB on everyone...
For those of you wondering on when Elder Kings is getting updated:
I used to be a nice person. But then I started playing Crusader Kings. Now I'm a backstabbing child jailing adulterer who constantly bullies people lower than me. Thanks, Paradox!

You can't give your sons titles beyond the first one landing them and such.

Old Gods: HOW do i convert a regions religion and culture? I've gotten a hold of half of Brittain within 15 years, as King of Denmark now. But i've no clue how to change their culture/religion. Should i just start throwing Jarldoms left and right and hope? They ARE a part of my Kingdom, so i'd retain Authoritah right?

Culture happens far more slowly and is based mainly on stewardship, I believe.

Coastal province makes it slightly quicker, as does every point of stewardship over 8 (iirc) rising to max speed at 16
So in Gavelkind, my youngest son will inherit a truckload of Counties. But those counties are inside my kingdom which my eldest will inherit. Am i right in chilling out and thinking that he'll be a vassal for my heir?

Be sure to save money for bribes once your character gets old.

I was minding my own business I was notified Deccan inherited the throne of the Mamelukes. https://mobile.twitter.com/producerjohan/status/341505597478432768 Looks like we're getting two more years of Crusader Kings 2 expansions!
I don't know why, But I usually hate forcing myself to play games, but when I do it with this game, I end up playing it for like 2 hours. I pretty much have control of most of Poland. Also is it worth buying the entire DLC collection and The Old Gods?
I'd say just get Legacy of Rome for retinues and maybe ruler designer.
When there is a 75% off sale, EVERYTHING is worth buying. Even Sunset Invasion. Don't know why they insist on releasing billions of tiny addons seperately like that, it's a pain in the ass. Why don't they just include the norse music and norse protraits in Old Gods darn it?

Edit: Sorry, I didn't know I shouldn't have reposted that. I just thought this news was really interesting and could bring some discussion.
The DLC is worth it at 75% off. When done, it basically helps flesh out the base game. [editline]4th June 2013[/editline] The music in their games is starting to improve as well.

I just listen to classical symphonies and the like, but thats not to say he's bad or anything.
