Oh fuck. God, every update they make my life harder.
That's what they do. Blame the forums, anything that's easy or a player learns how to do is obviously a balance problem.
I wonder if the forums will ever counter my almost game breaking grand duke strategy.
What is it?
Basically just remain a King with elective monarchy and put all duke titles and below under you heir. Heirs will never join rebellions, and if you have annoying direct vassals you can just shove them under so you don't have to deal with them. It's generally preferred to simply give all the titles to some new-born in the event they die you reclaim all the titles. It's how I managed to conquer the world without the empire breaking up.

[editline]5th June 2013[/editline] It's a recipe for disaster if you do. Unless it's kinsmen, then it doesn't matter because they don't get claims on you.
Relatives=kinsmen. Could you elaborate?
Kinsmen are relatives outside your immediate family. i.e. You're all related to great George 1 of England in some way, but you're not half-brothers or full brothers or great aunts or nieces or anything
That's what they do. Blame the forums, anything that's easy or a player learns how to do is obviously a balance problem.
But there really was a balance problem. AI kingdoms were way too stable even with forced gavelkind and the Norse were re-enacting the 1066 start date in the Baltic, with subjugations instead of holy wars. It wasn't that bad but still, apparently playing as a Baltic pagan was almost impossible. I haven't played enough of 1.101 to see if it's better though.
I played as the Pruthenians and I wrecked my neighbors shit. Well to be honest the Danish managed to blob everywhere and gave me a few hard knocks but I managed to survive. There is a very simple and effective strategy. Simply raid your neighbors constantly. Put teeny tiny armies on their land after sacking their cities to siphon all of that loot until the castles rebuild. Then have a rotating stack composed of your vassals units to besiege these places. Keep your own levies for warding off other raiders/factions. Using this strategy, I built 8 universities in my 4 province demesne.
I always try not to blob at the start of my games but I always end up doing it in the end. [img_thumb]http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/884110251574874185/91D9AB61BA5784990E3F75F400AD61591F952043/[/img_thumb] This is just me being reserved and trying to fix borders.
Added a "Retract Vassal" interaction
Fucking finally. I hate messy duchies.

2 newish EvW screens [t]http://img199.imageshack.us/img199/3659/46769010151476763188499.jpg[/t] [t]https://fbcdn-sphotos-e-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-prn2/981366_10151469012973499_1227852291_o.jpg[/t]
I hope there's just regular NATO symbol unit counters.

You need 'Splosions or references to 'splosians to capture the American market silly.
I hope there's just regular NATO symbol unit counters.
I think there is, because you see some in older screenshots. But yeah I can't stand those icons myself, they look weird.
Making things as they would have been if the world was just. Goddamn swedes!
That's almost how it was back then, though. Apart from the ridiculous expansions into mainland Europe :v: It wasn't until half a millenia later that Sweden started to dominate Denmark militarily. I mean that screenshot is taken in 951, only some forty years before Cnut the Great was born. After all, he did become "king of all England and Denmark and the Norwegians and of some of the Swedes".
They really like showing us the war aspect instead of the complex diplomatic negotiations, espionage, dirty dealings, and crises that are so iconic of this period...
That's why I worry this massive delay for "marketing reasons" might be to avoid a SOTS2 situation. Everything they are showing is HOI3 stuff modded except the 3d map so maybe the other features are completely broke so far.
Anyone know anywhere I can pick up CK2 for cheap? I've finally been persuaded to pick it up and it's £30 everywhere I've looked :(
Amazon has it for £12.19 http://www.amazon.co.uk/Crusader-Kings-II-PC-CD/dp/B006NU6M5S/ref=sr_1_1?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1370603897&sr=1-1&keywords=crusader+kings+2
That's for a physical copy, and my CD drive has long since worked; will the cd key provided activate it on steam?
That's for a physical copy, and my CD drive has long since worked; will the cd key provided activate it on steam?
I think CK2 is Steam Only. So the key should work. The only buy option on Paradox's site is for a Steam Key.

Speaking of Steam, I'd love some Workshop support.

[T]http://u.cubeupload.com/Kljunas/2013060700009.jpg[/T] So I started as Sviþjod, relocated in Alania with an invasion and converted to Zoroastrianism. Then I started expanding as fast as I could when the Byzantines started holy-warring me.This picture is the point when everything crumbled though: my character had just died from an illness, and some landless claimant attacked me for the kingdom title. Then my regent killed me, my sister inherited, the claimant won and there was a massive civil war during which neighbouring rulers took large chunks of the kingdom. Now I'm trying to reconquer some territory from the inside. I'm pissed though, after 930 pagans become a lot more likely to convert but I can't send a missionary because I'm not independent any more. And since my liege is Norse I can't even declare holy wars.
