Checking the wiki, it seems that Victoria 2's only use for infamy is wars of containment. Consciousness adds to infamy gain but ultimately the only thing infamy does is give other countries a casus belli if it gets too high.

Apparently there's a chance consciousness doesn't even affect it, it just says it does.
It's the other way around infamy increases consciousness
March of the Eagles DD- Post-mortem
http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/content.php?1340-March-of-the-Eagles-Developer-Diary-Post-mortem
Here is what we are currently working on for the upcoming March of the Eagles patch:
- First we are looking at a change in the AI, so that instead of creating multiple small armies for cutting supply lines and conquering/reconquering undefended territory, the AI will now try to merge those armies into one larger fast army.
- Secondly we are looking at the retreat mechanic and are trying to fix some problems that result in strange retreats. There will still be retreats that aren't obvious to the player, but more often than not the retreating army will seek its home territories, forts and cities.
- Third, we are adding a mechanic where low morale units cannot move into enemy controlled territory. To avoid too easy exploits this will not apply to retreating armies, but it will keep those beaten armies from running around conquering if you don't let them be enough to regain their morale.
- The final tweak we plan to add is that when a low morale flank retreats early in combat, their defense is halved and the attackers’ initiative is set to zero, resulting in heavier losses and less Ping-Pong with armies that don't have morale to fight.
Besides the above improvements that we hope will make March of the Eagles more enjoyable, we also plan to add more information to the interfaces, add more generals to a few countries, tweak the AI peace deals and naturally a bunch of other fixes that you will find out more about soon and specified in the patch notes once it is live!
Here's hoping EvW beta arrives soon
I'll be on that in a heartbeat

My game as Italy, as of 1934.
Things of note:
1) Turkey, which swapped governments a very nice amount of times and got catapulted to 0 prestige forever.
2) Dat Balkan.
3) Dat USCA, which also holds Haiti.
4) Dat China.
5) Dat USA
EDIT:
Also, 6) Austria got its shit slapped during a Great War, and whatever was left of them rolled with an early Anschluss.

I hate these maps, some of the countries have identical colors

If you're wondering, Korea and Japan are split equally between the USA and Japan. Yes.
Poor Canada...
Also you using any mods? I've never seen the US do anything like that before.

How do you take a picture of the entire map like that?
How do you take a picture of the entire map like that?
It's an F key although I don't know which one, perhaps F10.
How do you take a picture of the entire map like that?
F12
I memorized that because when going between Darkest Hour and the newer games I kept accidentally hitting F12 for the console, so then I created a lot of world maps.
I think there's a factory somewhere that's being built that keeps crashing my Germany saved game :v

Only A Pop Divided. It's strange that they suddenly went balls to the walls aggressive there.

Maybe there is an event that makes the US more territorially aggressive. Maybe the "Dreams of an Empire" decision? Were they still a democracy?
Maybe there is an event that makes the US more territorially aggressive. Maybe the "Dreams of an Empire" decision? Were they still a democracy?
They never stopped being a democracy, as far as I know. Conservatives have been in power most of the time.
What may have happened is there was a war with the British that the Americans won and so subsequently even if Canada gained independence some of the land remained American. IIRC New England is a contested territory that the UK has the option of giving to America in exchange for a few bonuses. Maybe this time the UK AI decided to take on the US rather than reaching an agreement with them?
What's the green under Alaska?

Deseret just split off from Mexico during a country wide uprising during the American-Mexican War

Civil War has started. Also Deseret had a Mexican Uprising which some how caused it join America, not Mexico.

Wha.. what? Mexico just became a HM's Government, they were a Democracy Before.
Also UK acquired Alaska so Canada controls it. I cheated for Canada to acquire Newfoundland though. I like Canada looking complete, even if it is ahistorical.
CK2: Anyone else have major problems with duchies when they expand to ~10+ regions? My only solid strategy is insidious.. expanding one duchy at a time, jailing the duke, quelling the revolt.. and marrying out/plotting EVERYONE (exception for a single heir). The issue for me is, it's a very unsustainable strategy, as I end up marginalized vs. other forming powers

You'd think you would have formed a kingdom of some kind at that point. I've never tried to go beyond 9 provences as a duke, it's usually WAAAY over the limit for me and it's not THAT hard to form a kingdom if you're that powerful.

You get to hold a lot more ducal titles than the king's limitation of 2 before they get huge relation hits with vassals.

I believe Mexico becoming a HMS Government is actually based on a period when Maximilian I became emperor of Mexico in 1864 with the help of Napoleon III. He was executed 3 years later.
Here are a series of funny little comics that outline it
http://harkavagrant.com/index.php?id=309
Oh I knew about that, but its the first time I've seen Mexico become a HM's Governement, normally they become an Absolute Monarchy, also they came to before before Napoleon III Also that comic was funny.
Also, Canada just became a great power, only 14 years after becoming a Dominion of the UK.
Not sure where they got all the prestige. I think the US might become communist soon, 25% of their population is of the Communist Ideology and rising, the highest is Liberal at 30%.

Speak of the Devils, we've got communist, Militant, Texan and Confederate Rebels popping up in the US. Communists have also taken over Bavaria, Turkey and Finland, or whats left of Finland, Scandinavian is slowly gobbling it up.

[editline]12th March 2013[/editline]
Hmm, all the rebels vanished, but the US Stayed Democratic with the Republican Party in power.
Russian just went through 3 different government changes in 1909, they went from Prussian Constitutionalism to HM's Governement, from that to Democracy then from that to a Proletarian Dictatorship AKA the Soviet Union.
Where the hell is Canada is getting all this Prestige? I've not seen them go to war once. They must be doing national decisions that give it.

Heh, I spoke too soon, Portugal just declared war on the Kongo whom Canada was allied with. They lost, damn.
[editline]12th March 2013[/editline]
Ok Canada is building about 10 Dreadnoughts in Dutch harbour.
Is APD better than NNM?
Is APD better than NNM?
I'd say it's a bit too bloated for it's own good. Lots of bad and decent content inside it.
Here's hoping EvW beta arrives soon
I'll be on that in a heartbeat
They said its pretty close but i wouldn't count on getting in, i think they mostly pick veteran beta testers but who knows.
Someone made a thread on on the official forums with most if not all the EvW screens so far

Maybe you'll see something you never seen before. They're bigger then they appear, just open the image in a different tab so see the full size.
