How are the hearts of iron 3 expansions? I'm still playing vanilla at this point
How are the hearts of iron 3 expansions? I'm still playing vanilla at this point
When you get all the three expansions vanilla looks like shit in comparison.
I wish I had the ability to be good at HOI3.
I wonder why Steam Sale started so late this year? Pretty good news to hear regardless.
Same time as last year.
Same time as last year.
Ah, I could've sworn it was end of June, my bad.
Hmm, I had a pretty interesting experience with the ruler designer and the old gods expansion. I started as the king of tara (petty kingdom in ireland) on the earliest start date, but among other things in the ruler designer, I changed the religion to norse (culture the same) (last time being ireland, scotland and england both became norse and Catholicism had like <20% authority, and only had east and west france) Once I got decently far (I revoked all titles) I banished the old count and got ~50 gold, using that I picked up a band of norse mercs. Using the norse/pagan conquest CB, I basically stomped the other counties in ireland in like 5 years by constant wars/using the mercs. Eventually I had all the counties in the kingdom, then I declared war on Jorvik to get his part of england. Now, there was no one left that was norse. (The one in scotland changed to catholic) So I just kept pushing and pushing (game isn't over yet) For some reason, unlike other pagans, my succession type is tanistry instead of gavelkind (all vassals vote for someone in the ruler's dynasty) so I wouldn't have the drawbacks of being pagan. (And if I changed culture to norse too, I could have a free CB on all coastal provines, but instead I only got it for "one-border counties" (whatever that is)
So I'm just minding my own business as a Zoroastrian emperor of Scandinavia, starting to holy war a bit to raise that moral authority and helping my ally in Wales, but I'm not doing anything outside of the Baltic or the British Isles. At some point, a young German princess gets her claim on England (or what's left of it) pressed, they win, and when she turns 16 she marries a Castillan dude. [sp]He's Zoroastrian.[/sp] And he's the son and heir of the king of Italy. Somehow, one of my Norse Zoroastrian fellows ended up in the court of the king of Italy and educated his heir. I think he's the guy (or his son?) who went adventuring to try to conquer Sardinia and probably got captured.

It's good to spread your family around if you can, try to have them rule as many places as you can possibly spread to. As Ireland I managed to get a crusade on Granada and gave it to my 3rd son so Espanya was under my family even though I didn't directly rule it. He then went on to conquer all of north africa while I ate france. Good times.

Okay thanks also fuck east france, lotharingia, and hungary, they had basically all of france/HRE and a 3-way super alliance or something
I played March of the Eagles for the first time since release week. Chose France.
March of the Eagles has the best looking map out of any paradox game, next to CK2 imo EU4 on the other hand looks like complete ass on political, but astounding on terrain
March of the Eagles has the best looking map out of any paradox game, next to CK2 imo EU4 on the other hand looks like complete ass on political, but astounding on terrain
I disliked MOTE's map to be honest. Looking at Persia makes me want to spoon out my eyes.

The terrain is good but political is just an ass to look at. I don't like the way political looks at the moment with the current version of the engine thats in MotE and EU4. I think Hearts of Iron 3 pretty much got the look down. [editline]10th July 2013[/editline] It just looks like frosting I guess. Like a cake.
Operation Burning Bishop is progressing well. All those other italian countries that called me mean names and tried invading me are now crushed firmly under the Papal heel. My alliance with Castille for the past hundred years has been beneficial to us both, as you can clearly see. I'm especially pleased that the French are completely shattered after they tried moving into the Italian Peninsula (Stay out of my territory.), Avignon has been brought under our control and the Catholic Church once more has a true Pope, the Ottoman Empire has been smashed a few times and is now a shadow of its former self and the Mamluks are sent running every time they enter a war with us. So I was just trying that August Storm mod, easy difficulty and I'm just messing around. First time I ever got to use the partisan revolt system [t]http://filesmelt.com/dl/HoI3_11.bmp[/t]
I've done it! I've finally done it! Bohemia-Byzantium lives!
Reminds me of this:
I tried the March of the Eagles demo today, and it was pretty damn enjoyable. I hope to get the full game some day, because it seems like a good game.
There's Vicky Fantasia for HOD? Why didn't I know this? Fantasia is the only mod I couldn't get working on AHD or vanilla.
Fantasia's been working me, both with and without AHD
Guys help Bohemia's doing it again [t]http://filesmelt.com/dl/2013-07-11_00003.jpg[/t] Europe Anno Domini 1637 With the dust settled after the Papal-Bohemian Wars, the Swiss Conquests and the Castillan Crusades Europe is now effectively dominated by a number of superpowers. Castille and Burgundy are both Colonial Powers that have a firm hold on Western Europe as well as Northern Africa. Both have overseas colonies in North and South America, as well as Africa and some parts of the Orient. Castille has profited greatly from the last two centuries, which have been spent in a state of almost constant warfare, crusading and colonization. Burgundy has taken its time attempting to unfiying the fractured state of France, which collapsed completely after a particularly punishing war with the Papal State and Castille. The three main contenders in the Holy Roman Empire are Bohemia, Switzerland and The Papal State. The Pope has declared the Papal State to be the Kingdom of God on Earth and has a firm grip on significant tracts of land in greece as well as virtually all of the italian peninsula (Milan is a Burgundian Protectorate) while also moving into Eastern Europe. Most notable of all is that the Byzantines are vassals of the Pope and so will eventually be annexed so that Constantinople might once again serve as a rightful bastion of catholic rule; the only thing stopping the Pope from having complete dominion over all of Christendom's spiritual centers is the fact Castille currently holds Jersualem. Bohemia has spread like a plague across Eastern Europe and is now threatening Russia and Persia. They've got what seems like an infinite supply of soldiers and the money and resources to back them up and have actually waged a few wars with the Pope in order to reclaim what they claimed to be Unlawfully taken Imperial Land. These were pretty close wars that ended inconclusively but almost spelled the end of the Papal State, and was the contributing factor to the complete breakdown of the Papal-Castillan Alliance seventy years before - the alliance had wound up lasting the better part of two hundred years. Switzerland is the third largest power in the Holy Roman Empire despite a series of disasterous wars with the Pope during the last century. Previously a bastion of Protestant Power, the Pope's crusade against the heretics and the subsequent failed campaigns in which the swiss attempted to reclaim their land saw Switzerland lose a signifcant amount of its army and large tracts of land to the Papal State. Despite this they've expanded north and command a respectable amount of vassal states and alliances. Muscovy and what was once Novgorod have finally united to form the Russian Empire and are the other main superpower in Eastern Europe aside from Bohemia. Russia and Bohemia have yet to go to war, most likely out of fear that other less scrupulous powers (such as the Pope) will strike at them as their armies are occupied. Information on what lies east of Russia is unreliable at best, but it appears that a gigantic Empire from the Orient has apparently extended its borders all the way into Asia Minor, now bordering Russia. Norway, once having almost complete control over all of Scandinavia has sundered into two seperate states, with Sweden once again gaining independence. The Hansa, while a relatively minor power in the Holy Roman Empire still finds itself waging war from time to time, usually against Norway or Sweden. Norway's internal strife and the chaos in Scandinavia means its influence in the larger European Political Arena is minimal. Scotland is well on the way to unifying Great Britain. The upstart Duke of Lancaster has been finally put in his place and so the only obstacles left in their way are a defiant Middlesex and Cornwall, as well as Wales which surprisingly holds a few colonies in Greenland and North America. Bohemia controls virtually all of Ireland, with Tyrone also remaining defiant against foreign occupation, its single saving grace being its pitiful size and army as well as its distance from the rest of the Empire. tl;dr Europe's going to burn when the next big war inevitably comes around. That M to the right and that patch of brown is Ming China. Bohemia declared on me to reclaim Schwaben. Just as I predicted the second they declared on me someone else declared on them and now Bohemia's fighting a war on two fronts with Burgundy and I. Their War Readiness is at 24% and they're already suing for white peace, obvious appealing to my christian sense of mercy. As Pope I am going to get fucking Old Testament on Bohemia. You done fucked up now, Emperor. While I am convinced that playing as Prussia and forming the German Empire is the most fun way to play Victoria 2, I must voice a frustration: GODDAMNIT FRANCE, LEAVE ME ALONE! YOU CAN'T HAVE ALSACE LORAINE AND QUIT DRAGGING BRITAIN INTO YOUR WAR!

Get their war exhaustion to 100%, strip them of their colonies and watch them have 8 revolutions while you fight Austria for dominance in Germany.
The most fun I've had in Victoria II is playing as Japan. It's really satisfying to go from an uncivilized nation to a modernized global superpower, especially as you get to slap around Europeans.
