And gas hundreds of thousands of freshly westernized Chinese troops, oh the good times.
In my current game, Britain has annexed Xinjiang and Mongolia from China. At this rate, they'll never westernize and for some reason it makes me so sad. Anyone have cases when the AI starts gobbling chunks of China because it seems most of the time it doesn't happen.

I once saw England taking a chunk of the coastline(I think Shanghai region?) while Russia gobbled up China's rear and Manchuria. Sad sight to see, I'd say.
It makes sense though, given China's a goldmine for natural resources.
Has anyone tried giving China max literacy and starting it modernized and see what happens? I can probably imagine some Pan Asian Empire happening by the end of the game.
I hate it when Europeans take random blobs in the middle of china that have no seaport or connection to their home country :v:

I did it before, they didn't do much.

It's back, baby!
Best thing about it is my current dude's 57 and I've just recently had a genius son, so he'll have Born in the Purple and Augustus (which is what, +35 opinion?) Right off the bat as a 16 year old Emperor.
Also the HRE is a terrifyingly difficult nut to crack, but I'll get them sooner or later (as for other conquests, I intend on staying west of the Volga, it's my attempt at keeping a somewhat aesthetic border.)

Yeah I've been saying that for about 100 years now.
I feel bad for all you poor fucks who bought the Mediterranean facepack. It's so awful.
At the very least you can find some pretty good mods that alter them and actually make the Mediterranean faces fit in with the others, I think those are a necessity if you are going to be using them
It's just so stupid to me. People in Greece, Italy and Spain don't look like that. Get this. Olive skin color doesn't equal sand people.

You mean guidos, i believe.

I don't understand why they combined all of these people to create such an awful and generic facepack when they've gone through the trouble of giving even the Irish their own culturally specific facepack. I thought the idea of the Mediterranean pack before I learned it was for all of them was that it was specifically for the Greeks and other Byzantine culture groups considering it was supposed to be timed for LoR, but nope.

Yeah I've been saying that for about 100 years now.
I see the Seljuks in Russia and Lithuania existing? Did the HRE really form in your old gods game?
The Crisis feature in Victoria 2 is so broken. I've been playing as the Ottoman Empire and have had to deal with 5 crises in Thesselia in less than 5 years. What the fuck am I supposed to do to stop the flashpoint tension from rising?

You're supposed to divert attention, put yourself in a position higher than the crisis opposition, and secure your relations with the GPs. As the Ottoman Empire all those are particularly hard because everyone likes to hate you. Also crisis cores are covering almost the entire country so there's that, too.

Yeah I've been saying that for about 100 years now.
How do you move your capital to Rome without a game-over? That decision just ends the game for me.

It's the Balkans. That whole area is a fucking political crisis death trap. Blame the Serbs.
The UK screwed me playing as the USA on Hoi3, I did all the attacking of Germany, who had annexed Russia and then because there fraction leader (despite Being in exile) they get the whole lot. I'm going to edit that out if i can.
I still think it's really cool having Norse Scotland become "Skotland" :v:

Have fun with all those provinces
How do you seal alliances with other great powers in Vicky 2? I have 200 relations with Britain and Austria yet they still say it's impossible for them to agree to an alliance.

They added in a tooltip that breaks down specifically why they will or won't ally with you in HOD.

Skotland is the only one of these Norse names I don't like.
The other ones are cool because they're really different names (Holmgarðr, etc.) but Skotland is just a literal translation... At this point they should rename every title for every culture to remain consistent....

Vanilla.
Edit: What's so funny! Some people are as privileged as you spoiled whippersnappers.

You need some serious stability. I had most my land owned by loyal church leaders and a giant retinue/army of mercenaries to keep order.
I went into ruler designer and edited the Doge of Venice.
I made him 16 years old and gave him tons of traits that badly impacted everything save for learning.
He ended up with 114 learning yet he was also a clubfooted insane homosexual transsexual midget with fertility issues and was patient (the patient trait somehow gives points).
Amazingly, he lived til the age of 62 (dying due to assassination) after he managed to murder some of his children in mad rages, divorced 6 times, was excommunicated thrice, killed all his vassals and replaced them multiple times, plus went to war with several countries.
I used his insane learning to boost military organization to silly levels and created a huge standing army that conquered Greece and ransacked Constantinople.
So, I picked up Darkest Hour during the sale today (I had it on another account that my brother basically took over, that fucker) and I played this odd scenario called "The Abyss" which is apparently some alternate history multiplayer scenario meant to give a more balanced start for every faction.
It is quite good. I played as Prussia for a while and ended up conquering most of mainland Europe (I basically Nazi-style blitzed everybody, but I didn't feel so bad because I wasn't actually playing as the Nazis) and, since the scenario only has big countries (there are no minor nations in it) I made a few of my own by "liberating" them from their oppressors:

There I am, a big black blob (I edited the files somewhat to change my color because Vanilla HoI2's Germany/Prussia colors are butt ugly (actually all the colors in vanilla HoI2 are butt ugly). I released Estonia, Latvia, the Netherlands, Flanders, Wallonia, France and Vichy France, Spain, Euskadis (or something like that), Portugal, Denmark, Serbia, Montenegro, Croatia, Slovenia, and Italy. The map looks a lot less weird than before, if you can believe that.
I'm considering getting EU:R, I wish there was a title in Paradox's line up that went from the end of it to in CK2 867/1066 though.
