So in my current Old Gods game the only claimants on the throne of Germany are the Karlings, which doesn't sound like much of an issue. That is until you see that HALF THE FRANKISH NOBILITY ARE KARLINGS
lol, I tried playing as the Karlings, pretty much everyone has a claim on everyone else. Its redonk. [editline]6th August 2013[/editline] Youtuber Quill18 has actually been doing lots of gameplay with a press copy of EU IV. And man the pagans in Old Gods. That Invasion CB you can tear stuff up!
End of my Andalusia Republic game(Started as Gotland crusade, already spoken about that in this thread). Illkhanate is a Reformed Tengri. [t]http://i.imgur.com/y5C7DE5.png[/t] This is a game that I will convert to EUIV and pretty out the borders when I do that. Was my first game of CKII that I finished, played with it around 20 hours. Going to start another republic game as a Welsch one that I made myself using some console wizardy
Oh dear, a full-size independent India at the start of the game?
Yes, but they are uncivilized, so that is good. It is 1837 now. Cores and borders are finalized. [sp]I have a perfercly good reason why I expanded the African holding. And yes, that is a German Jan Mayen.[/sp]
So, the statement about there being a EU4 demo by the end of the week has been re-eddited back into the dev diary, http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/showthread.php?705890-Europa-Universalis-IV-Developer-diary-45-A-very-small-development-diary

Time to get back at those Social Darwinist bastards for the Opium Wars. Glory to the Great Pan Asian Empire! Show the west that the sleeping dragon has awaken!!!

Was about 300 years into a Byzantium game and was progressing well, was playing it today but now all of the sudden, the game is just not loading my saves for that one :|. [editline]6th August 2013[/editline] Like, it's crashing to desktop with every save from that.
What is the best nation to play in Victoria 2 as a beginner?
What is the best nation to play in Victoria 2 as a beginner?
Belgium or Japan.
First EU4 beta AAR http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/showthread.php?706038-The-Phoenix-Rising-a-Beta-AAR
I might be easily impressed but that "enforce peace" thing the Ottomans did on him in the first part makes me want to buy this alone.
I want to form a small nation in CK2, and try to progress to EU4 with it. The problem is you will almost assuredly get wrecked by your neighbors unless you grow to counter them so I end up blobbing always in the end just to not die.
Just go for what I did, conquer 1 kingdom and try to make the borders better/ build up holdings and spread your culture.
What is the best nation to play in Victoria 2 as a beginner?
I always find the US to be easy enough for a beginner, especially if you game the ACW. If you want a more diplomatic early game and like 20.000 wars with France Prussia is also a nice country.
Just go for what I did, conquer 1 kingdom and try to make the borders better/ build up holdings and spread your culture.
Peaceful expanding of your power within the realm, and sending children off to get married and maybe inherit other kingdoms. Matrimonial marriages and all that. Maybe a crusade or two, just to let your 2nd or 3rd sons have a kingdom too.
China strong!!! In less than three months I managed to kick the Japanese out of Manchuko and Korea. I had only two armored divisions that consisted of M5 stuarts and some armored cars and a TD Brigade and I always used them as a spearhead to get to VPs. I managed to capture Harbin an forced Manchuko to capitulate and destroy the rest of the Japanese divisions that were in Manchuko. Northern China is a fucking deathtrap for supplies due to the shitty infrastructure and even worse Supply transportation. The best I can do is stalemate them along some northern rivers and hope that they are dumb enough to do an amphibious assault on Shanghai or Guangzhou so the death stacks I have aren't neutered 50% battle efficiency due to supply issues

That was what probably kept my supplies flowing consistently. Not to mention that my entire army was pure infantry from the start of the invasion back in '38-'39 and they don't need fuel or that much supply. I only started my major offensives late 1940 when I managed to get the port at Tianjin and my AI made a convoy route to that port from Nanjing so stuff flows up north quicker. Not to mention that the entire IJA was just sitting there probably starving of supplies themselves. Once I started my counter-attack to liberate Beiping they were just in full retreat, their organization fell apart when in hours after I started up attacks and they were fleeing back to Manchukuo The trick for surviving the Japanese initial onslaught is to stalemate them along a river and try to make them over extend.
I'm encountering an all to frequent problem in CK2 in that whenever my heir takes the throne, everyone wants to get rid of him as soon as possible. Case in point: I'm playing as the Byzantine Empire and, when playing as the previous Emperor, I managed to do really well and win loads of wars, expand the Empire and get shit loads of prestige and piety. Eventually he dies and his son takes over, and suddenly all my vassals have the logic of "let's put someone else on the throne! I don't care that the ensuing civil war will fuck up the Empire and give the Islamic countries the perfect opportunity to overrun us and kill us all - I just want to be a dick to the current Emperor!".

You're never going to completely get rid of your vassals hating your heirs, it comes with the territory. The best you can do is alleviate the problem.

Given the size of your vassal pool, it won't be difficult to find a 20-25 Dip dude to attach your heir to. To alleviate some of the heir hatred, I'd recommend giving him a Kingdom once he comes of age (and after you marry him off to a girl with good genetic stats/high dip) so at least a portion of your vassals will not suffer from the "short reign" penalty. Hell, give him two kingdoms; he'll be inheriting them later anyway. If you give him some "incomplete" kingdoms or ones nearby foreign lands, you might get the benefit of him running independent wars to expand, which is good for both the Byzantines and the heir's prestige. Make sure he was Born in the Purple as well, that's a big one. Give him Despot as well, since that has some prestige boosting benefits.

Not like you're going to be an Emperor and use it often but that's pretty handy. If you've got the cash it never hurts to throw around a few "gifts", especially on people who lead factions or are greed. Raise City and church taxes because a Mayor will never rebel and although Feudal taxes may piss them off even more, you'll have enough cash to bribe the big threats and hopefully put off the various rebellions.
Yeah gifts are amazing as a king/emperor. They'll mollify a duke for like 30 gold.
Just going to leave these here
I wanted so badly to do that (without the superman Khan) but then my game crashed every time I gained Novgorod by conquest ;_; No Baghdad?!

That would be one hell of a dynastic score if that guy was to keel over
