So guys, I got Crusader Kings II a while back. I skipped the tutorials, and from reading the OP, is it normal to be confused out of mind on how to play?
you have to manage your dynastic heirs, marry right, get the right educators etc.
Well...

Doesn't get much more Roman than the Byzantine Empire! :v:

Byzantium was more of a Literal Holy Roman Empire than the actual Empire itself anyway :v:

1) Pick one of playable nations, for example VEN (Venice). (And, for example, MOS (Muscowy) as playable one.)
2) Go to \Europa Universalis IV Demo\common\countries
3) Rename “Venice.txt” to “Muscowy.txt” and “Muscowy.txt” to “Venice.txt”
4) Open \Europa Universalis IV Demo\common\country_tags0_countries.txt
5) Change tag allocation to VEN = “countries/Muscowy.txt” and MOS = “countries/Venice.txt”

Doesn't seem to work for me.
If anyone has it in their hearts to purchase EUIV for a poor teenage boy, it would be appreciated. I know it isn't going to happen, but a boy can dream.
The HoI3 chapter of my megacampaign I've been working on and off over the past few weeks. Most of the borders and cores are done, just need to work on more ministers and brush up a bit more on India and Asia. Then after that things like militaries, placing down factories, events and all that fun stuff.
Most of these country colors aren't final, particularly all the green ones.

So who's what in terms of political ideologies?
So I caved and bought EUIV and I've been trying to learn how to play CK2 but oh my god, I find this more difficult than I found HoI3! I jumped in the game like I've done with all Paradox games with the intent of learning by trial and error and clicking random shit but I immediately found I had no clue where to begin. So I did the tutorial. All the tutorials. Still am quite lost, but I guess I'll just do what I see most of you always suggesting, play as Ireland

A good rule of thumb is to never follow the tutorials, they tend to be a waste of time.
Paradox never changes do they? I was doing one tutorial and it said "Your wife is dead marry someone else" but I couldn't because my wife was still alive.

You should release that as a mod.
How do I get rid of the "unlawful Imperial Territory" multiplier in EU3? I'm playing as Austria and I just annexed Bavaria, Hungary and Bohemia via Royal Marriages.

This is a pretty good guide. Its what I used when I started out.

Welcome to the Holy Roman Empire can I take your coat

A good diplomat and an embassy are crucial if you're planning on expansion within the HRE.
Oh good, my Infamy will be several million by then.
Invest in anything and everything that reduces infamy
Basically expanding in the HRE hurts a lot. You can mitigate this somewhat by becoming emperor so that the emperor can't force you to hand in your "unlawful territories" and then you're set to do as you please and stay emperor.
If anyone has a spare copy of CK2, I'd love to have it.
Doesn't seem to work for me.
Where it says
Change tag allocation to VEN = “countries/Muscowy.txt” and MOS = “countries/Venice.txt”
You need to replace the line completely.
So you change
MOS = “countries/Muscowy.txt”
to
VEN = “countries/Muscowy.txt”

There are ways to remove the country limit and time limit via hex editing, but I don't know if I'm allowed to discuss them here. Besides the game comes out in 2 days.

What's all that grey in Egypt and Palestine?
What's all that grey in Egypt and Palestine?
...Egypt? :v:
In Hoi3 I keep getting pissed at how everyone joins a fraction, I know it was called a world war but it takes the piss sometimes.
...Egypt? :v:
Is it usually Germany grey? I figured it was some big ugly colony or something.

Surely you must've noticed how countries like Italy and Poland have the wrong colors as well.
How do I get rid of the "unlawful Imperial Territory" multiplier in EU3? I'm playing as Austria and I just annexed Bavaria, Hungary and Bohemia via Royal Marriages.
You annexed the three biggest countries part of the HRE without having cores on them?
I weep.

Exicted for the CKII ->EUIV converter, have about 3 games that I want to convert.
Is it possible to change the ruling party in HoI3 when I am playing, for example, as Germany or Soviet Union?
After 25+ years of a never ending peasant war (i am pretty sure it was glitched because the event that said it will end came up like 6 times and it never ended) and 25+ years of orthodox zealots, serbian/bosnian nationalists, and going bankrupt 3 times in the process this was the final nail in my coffin:

I wasn't even overextending that much i've only had 1 uncored province which i couldn't finish in time when the protestants hit my country then soon after the peasants war started and then all the others. Spain (i have no idea what happened there) and Austria attacked me two times, once in a stupid succession war taking one province and once for some other reason making me give up another province. Anyway i could have accepted the peace the Ottomans offered which would have taken 3 provinces from me but figured theres not much point as the peasant war will probably never end and ill never recover the prestige and i can't save.
