Is it me or are advisors so expensive they're not worth the cost at all?
So has anyone actually managed to defeat France as England at the 1444 start date? It just begs for cheats. My spain game collapsed because I took too many provinces from Morocco and i always had a 0.0% conversion rate for the Sunni provinces (even the ones in Granada) so from overextension and religious turmoil I was suffering an 8-12k uprising every minute or so.
I managed to beat them through basically hit and runs, but the thing is, I didn't manage to force a PU as a victory because I had to draw my army off and I decided to just redo it. I was at war for so long, exhaustion skyrocketed and there were revolts all throughout the island. I'm going to redo it without raising taxes and see how it goes. You have to make another army of ten or so units to fill out the 2 units in London, split off the army you have on the island to where it's at 15 units rather than 18 and prepare to take on several loans. The main thing is moving your army out of Normandy with your fleet, while blocking the French fleet in with the Light ships you have. It's a game of maneuver and attack, while luring them into river crossings and such while you have an army to the side. Portugal also helps and you can call them as an ally right away, along with the Irish. From what I saw, you can ally with all the Irish, though I didn't bother. But every little bit helps I guess. [editline]14th August 2013[/editline]
Is it me or are advisors so expensive they're not worth the cost at all?
It depends. They're better for mid game, but it's way less noticeable for advantages than EU3 had it. Where you could just spam culture and get a +15 ducats investment per month on a tech. By midgame, you're making at least 10+ profit a month at your forcelimit so it's kinda easier to justify. The main thing that they're useful for is just giving a boost to your points so you can unlock things quicker.
As castille I can't get aragon to ally with me, they always start with a "dislike" modifier (the fire icon) on diplomacy, has anyone else gotten aragon to ally with them as castille?
I beat France as England by immediately surrendering most of my french territory and teaming up on them with Spain when they were weak. Don't even try and win the hundred years' war as england, it's a colossal waste of soldiers and money that you could spend unifying Great Britain and becoming a colonial power.
Am I right in thinking that EU4/3 is much more like the later total war games?
this is very weird. To get the customizer DLC running I had to apply to the steam client beta. [editline]14th August 2013[/editline] Sweet, custom country names copy over to EU4.

I'll throw someone a Key for the EU IV deluxe edition. If they could buy maybe four above average price origin humble bundles for the community and myself .PM me for more info.
Customizer DLC is out http://store.steampowered.com/app/226666/ [editline]14th August 2013[/editline] EU4 workshop is up http://steamcommunity.com/workshop/browse?appid=236850 [editline]14th August 2013[/editline] the customization pack DLC for CK2 is broken on steam ATM.
Does the Customizer transfer the names of the Kingdoms to EU4? Or would I be playing with its base name?
So I just found out that the EUIV achievements only work in Ironman mode. I mean, achievements mean nothing in the end, but I like seeing them pop up :P
So I just found out that the EUIV achievements only work in Ironman mode. I mean, achievements mean nothing in the end, but I like seeing them pop up :P
i cheat when I think things are bullshit so I wouldn't get them anyways
How do you change your descedents names with the Customization DLC?
So I just found out that the EUIV achievements only work in Ironman mode. [editline].[/editline] Also apparently my "preorder" wasn't actually a preorder version so no bonuses for me.
Sweet, custom country names copy over to EU4.
Glory to Arstotzka
So Oman is a very cool start if you can get 100% piety. (Blue in Middle East) Basically with 100% piety on the slider, you get a permanent +3% missionary strength, +1.00 moral , and a bonus to defense - so you can take over the nearby Sunni. If you get -100% piety you get more tax income, more manpower, and reduced tech cost. Also the ideas for Omani basically give MASSIVE trade bonuses (they all give either the different trade bonuses or navy bonuses) The only problems I have were the Mamluks/Timurids mega alliance against me (and the fact I have 0 allies), but I'm in the process of slowly chipping away at the mamluks
I need to stop relying on my allies in EU4 the same way I do in CK2. They're fucking useless unless they're right next to the enemy.
I've always found Allies work better as a deterrent than anything else. [editline]15th August 2013[/editline] Maybe I just like using the threat of mutually assured destruction in medieval europe.
I'm loving EU4, however there is one thing I kinda dislike is the slow speed of annexing/intrigation with vassels, and I want to find a way to turn it up a bit... like 2% per months or so.
I am trying to convert an orthodox province to catholic and i can't because it takes so god damn long! In the demo it took me like a few years to convert a province to my religion which was fine. For starters a province in the demo took me 3-4 years to convert now in retail the same province takes either 1111 months or it will be never completed. At first i thought it was a bug but i found out that this was changed from the demo which is stupid as i found it slow there too but i could live with it but now i cannot as everyone around me where i could expand is either orthodox or sunny and i get huge penalties for provinces not in my religion and im not going to take religious ideas just for this. Oh and the reformation didn't even hit yet as it's only 1484. So how do i speed this up by editing the files?
Man this game is pretty damn hard. Tried playing as sweden and got my shit wrecked by denmark after i went to war with them. I think i might play as France in this new game.

Or you could just get the religious ideas, it's there for situations like that where everyone around you is a different religion/heretics you get CBs out the arse and get the missionary bonus.
Guys, how do I get out of personal union?
You guys are very brave buying a Paradox title on release
Nah, they're pretty solid at release these days.
I need to stop relying on my allies in EU4 the same way I do in CK2. They're fucking useless unless they're right next to the enemy.
PI ai are useless assholes in practically every other game of theirs.
Are there any cheaper bundles for buying CK2 and EU4? I got hooked to CK2 on my brothers computer and now I want to purchase for myself.
hmm france always colonizes south america... this isn't good
Is there any point as Britain to colonise South America as the trade nodes don't go anywhere near you?
Well I think I've settled on the perfect spot for me in terms of how I play CK2. That being said, the AI is doing far more horribly than I've ever seen before.
