Does anyone know what could have caused me to suddenly drop, without warning or any message whatsoever, from +3 stability to -3 stability? I'm playing as Portugal and had no problems with rebellions or anything of the sort.

Peasants war. Maybe you have the notification disabled for it?
This is the result of my Iroquois game.

I have to say, playing as them is really dull. There's about two hundred years of literally nothing happening as you just try to scrape together enough points to upgrade your technology.

Try out one of the Amerindian countries with a Sunset Invasion save.
How can i change my gov type with modding? For example i want the imperial govt in my save, so, should i just edit the save game file or the raw's?
I'm playing a converted CK2 save and I'm really liking how different it is. The balance is completely unexpected and it's just fun to see what happens and all the silly things that the feudalistic system in CK2 did to the land.

The Byzantine Empire exists after going into withdrawl and has made comebacks multiple times, but because of some of the fucked up inheritence it went through (OPEN ELECTIVE FOR SOME REASON) they converted to Shia muslim.

While still holding Greek culture by the way.

I was an observer in the Ck2 save and I'm currently playing as Scotland in it right now. Scotland in it transfered over as an Absolute Monarchy and had control of Ireland as well as its lands in the North. I took advantage of this and have been steadily taking England over, I've taken their Northern Provinces and their Western coast as of 1510. I've also started a colonial empire in North East Canada and Greenland. Am only really going to bother with the East Coast of America, I might go to India if the time is right, but I'm focusing on the Americas because of Sunset. Mexico and most of South America is strong, so it's like, Eh.
Funnily though, the Aztecs only took Norway (including Iceland) and parts of France. They got beat back after their initial momentum and like, Immediately switched to Catholicism. It will be funny to see what it looks like back on North America once the reformation hits.
i hate how all your vassals become new nations when you convert from CK2 to EU4, and the HRE is completely nerfed

you could always cheat and change your Crown Authority to max that way it won't happen.

Apparently if you put your save files in a folder to organize them achievements get disabled ("save game is another user's or edited")

I know achievements really don't mean anything, but I feel Paradox handled them the wrong way IMO.
Achievements are only gained in ironman mode.
I mean seriously, come on? If i wanted to play with a monthly autosave that makes the game unplayable i could do that from the options screen.

I also want to be able to play with Lucky Nations off and get Achievements :/
Is it me or are advisors so expensive they're not worth the cost at all?
For early game, yes.
But once you start to accumulate income and burning through those monarch points (which will happen really fast if you want to keep up AND conduct diplomacy, trust me), they suddenly start looking viable as fuque. Especially if you're having bad luck with heirs.
Update on my Oman game: making about 10 gold from taxes, 10 from production, and 10 from trade even though my provinces base tax all suck... I get 10 gold per month with 3 level 1 advisors and full funding. (20 when army is at lowest funding)
But my tech sucks until I westernize, and I only have the offensive and religious ideas
Forced march is so good.

336 Years Later (I'm using an immortality mod, seems your leader not dying does wonders to keeping a country together, guessing because none of your heirs fight over the land)

England in EUIV is so freaking easy, all you need is masses of light ships and merchants\
I had about 700 ships total by 1750 and the next best was ottomans with his shit fleet of galleys at around 230
Oh sweet, in Terrain mode in EU4, you can see wild life, like Seagulls, whales, Kangaroos. I'm searching the map now for more.
I can actually stand playing in terrain mode in EUIV, it's so great looking.

I wish there was a mod that made the political mode colors more transparent. That way it'd be like playing in terrain mode but slightly tinted by country.
February 23rd, 1601 will be a day long remembered in Scandinavian History. Byzantium has fallen, the last hold out of the Catholic faith is no more.

It's been 109 years since the battle of Stamford Bridge in which the Anglo-Saxons beat back their invaders from Norway and Normandy, and quite a bit has changed since then. The first Emperor in the East, Gaius Julius Caesar, who was made a saint for his actions, led the remnants of the once great empire to glory greater than his namesake could ever have dreamed. On the day before his glorious 46 year reign ended in his death, he decreed the "Pope" of the western Catholics a heretic and pretender, and named Orthodoxy the one true great faith.
Following his death, there was great confusion over who would take over the empire, despite having three landed sons, whom each was married and had a child, the empire was given to his landless daughter Constantina, who was named the Glorious in light of her achievements. Constantina's reign was a tumultuous one, filled with interior strife, however it was also the reign in which the Empire became nigh unstoppable. Under her reign the key territories of the old Roman Empire were regained, and on the ides of March, she was crowned Augustina of the restored Roman Empire. The phoenix had arisen from it's ashes. The rest of her reign was relatively peaceful, the lords of the Empire were content with the glory that had been bestowed on them, and 22 years after she had inherited the troubled Empire, Empress Constantina the Glorious breathed her last.
Unlike the previous succession, it was clear from the beginning whom would take the reigns of the Empire, and thankfully for the restored, but still uncertain Empire, a true eagle of a man would become the Emperor. Under Emperor Evangelion Caesar I the restored empire reached it's greatest extent, his many conquests and shrewd negotiations resulted in the regaining of the old roman provinces of Hispania and Gaul, as well as the reclamation of the rest of Italy from the pretenders who declare themselves the "Holy Roman Empire". Following the reclamation of Italy, the Emperor realized the inefficiency of of the Empires current administrative system and enacted a series of reforms. He gave the title of King to the most loyal lord in each province, allowing the easier collection of taxes and quicker rallying of troops. The rest of his reign saw minor gains in the province of Africa and greater efforts of centralization, he died after a glorious 32 year long reign.
His successor, Emperor Evangelion II, has only recently taken the throne, but in this time he has made massive reforms to the state, and has brought the Empire to the most centralized state it has been since the Pax Romana, his reign is sure to be a glorious one. Roma Surrectum!
Now that that's out of my system, some notes.
First, I accidentally ended up starting this game with only the sword of islam DLC and the legacy of rome DLC enabled, and then on my second play session I enabled the rest of them, I think that the old gods and the republic make some pretty massive changes, because without them the beginning of the game seemed insanely easy, and so did all of my subsequent conquests. Not to mention my levies and income are through the roof, I only ever use my levies to deal with revolts though, my 30000 strong retinue tends to take care of most wars on it's on.
Second, by sheer luck of the draw I had the perfect timing so that I happened to pause and mend the great schism the DAY before my first ruler died, the timing was perfect, just a neat little fact.
Third, I've nearly made all of Europe Orthodox at this point, there are no Christian nations on the mainland ruled by a Catholic, in fact the last stronghold of Catholicism are the British Isles, not only is the population of them mostly catholic, but the only independant Orthodox ruler is some count in Scotland, I'm going to save the British isles for my last conquest, just as flavour.
Finally, the only reason I'm playing CK2 is because the only computer I have now is terrible at running EU4, and can only barely run CK2, I'm basically preparing this save for when I get my new computer next week so I can have a cool start in EU4.
