The race for Berlin was a frantic one. Unfortunately enough, that responsibility would be shouldered by the American and British forces, since I was taking on the brute of SS and the glorified remnants of Wehrmacht forces in the South.
Eventually Berlin would be overrun by Soviet forces on the 28th of April, 1944.
Knowing their cause was all but lost, the Italians formally surrendered unconditionally on the 20th of June, 1944. Just as French armies were miles away from the gates of Rome.

ally with france. russia also sometimes likes to get into wars with austria so if you attack(to assert hegemony) during a war with russia you should be able to fuck em' up proper.
Slavery was going to be abolished when the constitution was being written up, but they didn't want the southern colonies to fucking leave :v:
Actually, it was more because Mr. Jefferson was banging Sally.
Okay, what is Algeria's TAG in Vicky 2? I can't find it anywhere.

jefferson was supposedly against slavery on principle. this essentially makes him one of the biggest hypocrites in american history.

ALD, short for Aldjazair which I think is the name of Algeria in Arabic.

Let them kill themselves with attrition by taking your border provinces, and don't forget that France will usually ally you day 1.
Really the war is much easier as Austria, but I've won as both sides.
My advice is to mobilize immediately (of course) and then try to knock Austria's German allies out of the war. Past that, let Austria invade you then move to destroy stacks. I got it done just barely, but it can be done.

I went to war with Austria in hopes of annexing Prague and the rest of Czechoslovakia, luckily I made alliance with pretty much everyone.
Long story short, I convinced most of Europe to declare war on Austria.

Just bought Hearts of Iron III. Prepare for the rise of the Fascist Republic of Mexico. VIVA LA FASCISMO!
It's 1946 in my French HoI3 game and Japan has like 7 carriers in a scary single stack.
I'm been trying to avoid it like the plague but it keeps chasing down my naval taskforces and shreds them up. My ic can only cover so much losses (168 base/368 available) it's getting irritating at this point.
Playing Victoria 2 as Prussia, I triggered the North German Confederation Event with Austria as a Puppeted nation and now it seems Austria is still a Prussian puppet even though Prussia no longer exists.
Has this happened to anyone else?
I've had Wars with non-existant countries.
I've also had wars at 100% for years, and Wars that stay at 0% because some country without a long range navy decided to attack a coastal country in Africa.
March of the Eagle's patch came out.

Anyone here ever played the fallout:doomsday mod for darkest hour?
It's extremely awesome. Like, totally fleshed out with sprites, techs and stuff. Also the backstory/events and are very well written, withoud fanfic cheesiness.

Bunch of random nations confirmed, just look for posters with EvW Avatars, only devs have those. They scattered throughout the thread.

You can fix the latter. Wiz made a mod for it that feeds the AI a bunch of non-existent country tags as their "low priority" attack targets, instead of you know, randomly declaring war on land-locked african nations.
Whats the best way of becoming a great power with Texas in Victoria 2?

Hell yeah, paradox thread. I have CK II, Eu3, HOI3 and Vicky 2.
Probably 2000 hours total gameplay from these games.
Crusader Kings II has probably been my favorite so far.
Anyone got any recommendations for fun countries to play as in Victoria 2? I usually enjoy smaller countries that have potential to expand.
In my Texas game the United States became a bourgoise dictatorship [pure luck lol] and I received like 25 million immigrants over the next few decades, filling all my factories almost to max level and making me the dominant power in North America..without gaining any territory. Have some odd screenshots from some of my past Vicky games. I suggest Canada [need's to be released], Russia and Belgium. Russia may be big but it's a challenge to manage and expand. Belgium and Canada are small but have great potential. Belgium can colonize the world and conquer small European countries. Canada... is just a weird game because of all the historical events. They even have the John A MacDonald train crisis for some reason.
Whats the best way of becoming a great power with Texas in Victoria 2?
It becomes obsolete later on but bumrush the prestige tech in culture, the ones on the far left of that tab. Since you're a single region you're not eligible to become a GP, so your best guess would to join in on beating up the CSA and or Mexico. More simply, go eat up the Caribbean islands before they're in someone's sphere.

Funnily enough someone suggested I play as New Zealand jokingly, and I responded saying the only part of the British Empire I'd consider playing is Canada (the other is South Africa but I already had a South African game). Canada seems pretty fun and I've seen the AI turn it into a complete monster late game.
[editline]19th March 2013[/editline]
I'll probably start a Canada game if Austria is well and truly unsalvageable in my Prussia/NGF game. Does Canada have secondary power status after being released? I only ask because I'd rather not have america bum rush colonize those canadian territories at the start of the game.

In the 1836 start, you start off ranked #40 once released. In the ACW bookmark you're in a better position as being a SP upon release.
Ooh that Pagan interface looks great. And the sailing upriver feature is just wonderful. Sounds like playing a Viking faction will be extremely rewarding.

My god... I can't wait.
God I am going to sack the shit out of Paris.
Oh wow that's cool, I hope EU IV gets something like that too, eventually.
Funny enough, there's actually a EU3 mod that does this to a degree. Phoenix, the spirtual successor to Steppe Wolf, essentially does this. But it's done in a way to prevent explioition IIRC.
Funnily enough, there's this huge mod that has been in development for a while and the first version was released recently and it had navigateable rivers. I feel bad for the guy that this happens after all that work.
death to any sort of costal cities despite their location
that's a battlecry worth shouting

I hope they let us burn minor holdings, like baronies and cities and such. In true Viking style, of course.
