Do a Count-to-Emperor playthrough as a count in Greece. Make a custom character for the Byzantine Empire in 1066 and beat back the initial invasion, later reform the Roman Empire.
Play as Castille, fight back the Moors and eventually form Spain. If Castille's not your fancy, try Leon.
Use an 867 start as some random Norse dude and become the greatest raider ever to live, eventually using the prestige and cash to become king (ultimate goal is forming Scandinavia.)
Play as the Duke of Austria and gain territory only through diplomacy/succession. Goal is to have a blood-relation as the King of France, Britain, Spain and HRE, possibly Byzantine as well.
Be a Patrician in Venice, make loads of money and backstab your way to Doge.
Play as an earl/Duke in England, eventual goal is to become King and form Brittania. If that seems too much, just start as the King of England and try to form Brittania. Bonus points if you manage to acquire Brittany through peaceful means. Extra bonus points if you can do the same with France.

You could try what I do when i get bored in Total War. Gather everything you have and conquer some far off territory, like Lithuania, and migrate there leaving your initial starting point abandoned, then try and survive as the upstart in a new land with no money and very few soldiers.
I got totally screwed over, England got involved with Aragon/Portugal/Grenada and I couldn't get France to back me so I had to give up nearly everything.

As Britain I converted to Protestantism and had to convert back to Catholicism. That kills your manpower and finances.

I'm trying to bring the light of Allah to all the infidels. My empire (Hispania) goes from Iceland, through Spain and stops at about Egypt. I've just passed the 1000 date and goddamn is it fun. Doing a slow, meticulous conquest starting as a shiek/count along with roleplaying the characters is great.
so I bought EU4 and I have no regrets at all
its good

I had no regrets until the peasant rape.
I'm oscillating about buying EU IV because I really want to get the Converter as well, but $9.99 for it like that seems a bit too much.

much like the deluxe edition - im not spending an extra 10 euros for 2 minutes of music and some new skins for three nations...
So, playing a Vicky2 game as Greater Germany in lategame, got kindof bored. Had been number one since 1860 or some shit. So I decided "Hey, I'll invade america to free the CSA!" Unfortunately that wasn't possible, so I went with giving back mexico all their old provinces. Here's a screenshot of the landing; happy fourth of july, america!

After beating their initial troops and bringing in a few waves of reinforcements, it was just a matter of occupation. Unfortunately, since the AI is kindof smart, it set up a ton of level 5 forts all over the western US once it lost the east (or maybe they were there already). It took a year and a half to occupy it all (and let some infamy burn.)

So I let mexico go, fight them out of the US's sphere, and immediately the broken and rebel infested US goes "no u cant do dat!!1" and declares a war of submission. I was going to intervene, but mexico was actually winning.

Eventually the US fell to communist rebels. Then, funnily enough, I managed to get an alliance with the brand new communist US regime (Which is terribly unrealistic, since I'm the reason the reason the nation was wrecked in the first place.) So I am just sitting back watching the People's Republic of America and a democratic mexico duke it out over North America. Germany wins.

This techschool is pure irony.

I have a problem in EU4, I'm getting these horizontal screen tears even when I have the correct resolution and refresh rate in the options.
I'm wondering if there's a way to enable Vsync, (to see if it does anything), but the option to enable it isn't in the options menu at all.
February 23rd, 1601 will be a day long remembered in Scandinavian History. Byzantium has fallen, the last hold out of the Catholic faith is no more.

Now you need to remove kebab
Anyone got any tips for quick tech progression in EU4, I seem to get left behind by everyone, it's 1550 and Ive only unlocked 2 or so levels of tech.
Anyone else having issues playing multiplayer? Game just freezes when I try to join a friend and unable to see his game. We've done port forwarding an all that bollocks. I see others on the paradox forums with similar issues.
Just wondering if anyone here's had it and might know of a workaround (EU IV)
Time for shameless advertisement, I'm going to be streaming a multiplayer game with RahkshiLord for a while and thought I'd put this here in case anyone wants to hotjoin at some point, my steam name is CapLagann, join whenever if you're interested, game is my steam name
I got Victoria II last night w/ A House Divided and playing my first Grand Campaign as Belgium because I found a thread saying that it's a good country for starts to play as and I literally have no idea what I'm doing.
So I've researched Strategic Mobilization or something like that, currently researching mechanized production, and set the focus on both my regions to building railroads. I've also subsided all my factories.

Get advisors once you can afford them.

Diplo Annex as much as you can; Less OE and automatic cores though the process is slower. Don't spend it all on ideas; Take ideas only if tech is ahead and you dont feel like you can pay the extra 50% or so for earlier research.
Or just play fully impious ottomans and generally dont give a damn because cores cost like 12 admin points.

If you have been playing singleplayer, restart the game before attempting to play MP.
Don't join through Steam, use the server browser.
Also I've read that choosing the same download location (in the Steam settings) as the people you want to play with might solve some issues.

We'll try the steam server location thing then, I did see someone else mentioned it but the other two solutions didn't work. Cheers

Wow holy fuck. What are you doing :v:
I don't even know how you fall behind in EU4, the only way I can think is that you have a constant successive line of retarded kings or you spend the points on a bunch of useless things.
II've also subsided all my factories.
Don't do this, let factories fail if they fail. Subsiding your entire industry kills your economy in the long run.
I think Victoria is my favorite of the Paradox games because in all the others if you're not expanding you're losing basically.
I have this problem in my vicky 2 playthrough. I unlocked the tech for armor like, 10 years back, but my capitalists won't produce it, and no other countries are producing it, probably since I'm so far ahead in tech. Anyone know how to make it so my capitalists make armor factories? I don't want to switch to reactionary or fascist because I have like, 5 times the capitalists that anyone else has, so I would be giving up my economy just for an armor factory.

Encourage capitalists, not railroads. If you get enough capitalists they basically instantly build railroads everywhere, provided you have the tech. Make sure to tax the poor, not the rich. Consciousness isn't always bad. Militancy is mostly bad, unless you plan on getting rid the communists/fascists/reactionaries/jacobins with genocide.

You can set a national focus for specific industries, i haven't used it myself, but maybe theres an armor industry you can focus on?

Automobile, it includes tanks, cars, and planes. I tried that already, but they just built a ton of planes and cars.
Yeah, about that whole tax the poor but not the rich idea....

Gotta love how you can keep doing this to refill your coffers.
