I hope they let us burn minor holdings, like baronies and cities and such. In true Viking style, of course.
That is something they discussed on an earlier post, but it's really hard to balance that shit considering how expensive holdings are to build. Maybe just put them in a 'looted' state that can be reparied for 1/5th the cost or something? Or maybe just destroying upgrades to the holdings or something like that. Whatever it does, it will apply to the Mongols too so it shouldn't be to insane.
death to any sort of costal cities despite their location that's a battlecry worth shouting
I pity coastal cities, first Republics, now Vikings.

Playing the Game of Thrones mod, the Blackfyre Rebellion resulted in the Iron Throne adopting Elective Succession right before a long winter set in. Cue House Targaryen being ousted from power by House Rosby and a couple of civil wars springing up as the realm is destabilized. Fast forward thirty years and the winter is now "harsh" with the peasants freezing to death. The past thirty years have seen almost constant war which along with the attrition rates have killed almost all the soldiers and knights. With no end to the winter in sight this is turning into some apocalyptic shit. [editline]22nd March 2013[/editline] My character died after her club foot caused her to fall down the stairs. Her injuries got infected and the cold finished her off from what I can tell.
Hearts of Iron 3 is on sale on Steam. Anyone here recommend it? I've played CK2 and EU3.
If you like a very in-depth World War II game that is focused around military
i bought HOI 3 i have absolutely no idea what the fuck i'm doing how do i war how do i economy
I disliked Hearts of Iron III. It's more combat based than nation building, alliances and such. It's the black sheep of the paradox games in my opinion. :v:

As for the proper management regarding it, it's all about assessing modifiers, command structure, and the terrain you fight in. Provided you set yourself up well enough for a war and put some proper AI plans on the board you can even lead the USSR to a 1944 victory without touching any of your units directly.
I'm starting up a Prussia Campaign. I'm trying to figure out what my first few wars/moves should be, I have seen several different opinions out there. Do I war on Denmark first and free Holstein and get them into my SOI to help create NGF? Hannover is sphered with UK, but I read that once the King dies, I should be able to sphere it? Getting the Northern German Cores then I can create NGF. Or should I attack France and get Alsace-Lorraine? Or start working on the Southern Cores to create greater germany? Just wanted to know my first few steps I should take out of the gate to get on the right foot.

With the new DD, are those.. war plans?!?! [editline]ahahha[/editline] Oh I missed the fourth diary, my god. War plans were basically my favorite thing to do in HOI3, gonna make planning with my friends easier aswell!
Also most countries in HOI3 require a different approach to gameplay. As opposed to say most European countries in Vicky 2, which all play roughly the same but have a different set of goals to complete, HOI3 requires a lot of adaption, especially when it comes to combat.
Wow, Aliens are very nuke happy in Darkest Hour. [editline]22nd March 2013[/editline] Aliens use black as their colour in Darkest Hour, so its easy to confuse their territory with the rebels. Germany has been nuked so much I think Hitler died. Joesph Goebbels has taken over the government.
Are you playing the "World War" series or something :v:
Never read the novels, but know about them, that is what inspired me to do this haha. Bunch of countries split from Germany: Flanders, Wallonia, Austria, Norway and Luxembourg so far.

As Prussia, I just kicked Austria back into the stone age because of a Hegaemony war and one of my allies was Britain, turns out they were the war leader, they negotiated for them to get Rhineland from Bavaria in a general peace and I didn't get Jackshit, Fucking game.

A sad and remarkable update on my CK2->EU3->V2->HOI3->EvW(?) campaign. Here you see an old Mongol empire fade after getting caught in four wars, three rebellions, a religious turmoil, a regency, and enough stability drop events to permanently hold it down to -3. To make matters worse, all of Russia has been assimilated by the Tatar Mongols, and now a crumbling empire's future stands uncertain.
Mega Croatia
Wait until you see Ming; They began leaking into Afghanistan.
in my game, asia is partitioned between novgorod, ming, poland-lithuania and maratha ming has kuwait
I actually just finished converting my CKII game to EU3 (MEIOU) after mucking about in the history folder for the past week. Hopefully it'll turn out interesting, I'm playing as the Muslim revolter state in Provence which starts off at war alongside the other surrounding Muslim states with al-Andalus. Oh damn, you enabled all the countries to work with MEIOU yourself? Upload that stuff up on the internet, man. [editline]23rd March 2013[/editline] And this is how the longest Mongol empire ends. Not with a bang, but a long lasting, eternal whimper, made out of the noise of many rebel factions storming the holdings of the Golden Horde.
What year is it in your game? Mongols rarely last past 1400 for me without heavily losing to Moscow or the like.
Are you playing the "World War" series or something :v:
Damn lizards.
