Korea is mostly hills and mountainous terrain. I thought that mountain terrain gives mechanized a bigger disadvantage in fighting.
In HOI3 the mountains are in North Korea near the Chinese border. Hills aren't that big of a deal for Mech troops anyway, the modifiers are negligible compared to the other bonuses.
Speaking of YAMDAM, after being pissed off with how there's basically no IC in most countries and how there's a handful of retarded events(Russian diploannex events for former USSR states) and how there's no properly made political and military leadership-tech data, I took it upon myself to fixate this to the mod.
Naturally, I decided to represent national IC via the 2003 nominal national GDP representation where 1,000 on this IMF list in the year 2003 would represent 1 IC in-game. This made sure that some IC-less countries(basically most of Europe, Africa, South America, along with some others) would get their needs fulfilled.
However... there were some side-effects.

Yyyyyeah. In vanilla HOI3 that representation would mean a cloud of darkness. Note the powerhouses of Brazil, Nigeria, and Cameroon of all places.
Uganda and Kenya are also honorable mentions, albeit not pictured. They both got a whooping 7 and 15 IC respectively, making them strongest in East Africa. :v:
But! By using IC as a relative value to determine one's capability to maintain the means of national upkeep, let's compare North Korea to South Korea!

Impressive diversity, ain't it? I can't wait to see battle break out between the two.
Biggest issue with EUIV is the colonial powers.
99% of the time it's always Portugal/Castille. I'm not saying it's bad because it's historically accurate, but come on at least give us a "lucky nation" modifier.
You can set random lucky nations, or turn them off entirely (like I do). Unless you want to play Ironman mode, which you have to have Lucky Nations on.
The problem is that AI countries have pre-determined idea groups. Portugal, Castille/Spain, and then England and France are pretty much the only one who will pick the exploration ideas, and Russia will be the only country to colonise eastwards to Siberia.
i don't see how that's a problem. castille, portugal, england, and (to a lesser extent) france are all geared towards colonization. few other nations would logically want to go westward for various reasons. i could see maybe scotland or a united ireland, but not many others.
Yo does anyone wanna try get a big party of nerds together this weekend and try to have a 32 player ck2 game?

That would be awful.
That would be awful.
hilariously awful
I think a big Christmas game of FP EUIV would be wonderful.
so i bought HoI3 yesterday and i'm still stuck on how to set up an order of battle system for my units, it's really frustrating.
also i hate the fact that when producing a division say as Germany each individual brigade has an english name instead of a german one, does anyone know how i can edit the default names of brigades for certain countries or of any mods?
but the battle plans feature is pretty cool.
I've recently wanted to play a decent Rome strategy game and there is one from Paradox Interactive. Is that game any good? I heard mixed things about it, looks like a cool game though.

Thanks, I heard that it's far to reminiscent of EU3 and that it also requires a lot of micromanagement which can be really annoying.

You can use some of automation features, which make warmongering easier. There should be some tutorials on YouTube.

Panzerkorps will spearhead advances with Infantry divisions filling in the gaps and poking the opportune encirclements.
No idea why I called it Operation Forest Green.

imgur happened. Don't use it.
So in CK2, if you have the customization DLC, and you're in 'observe' mode you can rename titles with no owners since you're technically 'no character'
I love Paradox and their games, but holy shit they're lazy on bug testing. Nearly every release of every PI game I own was incredibly buggy before patches were made.
It's like they don't even play the 1.0s of their games before they ship them out.
So, playing CK2+ with the Shattered World Scenatio, there are some joke houses here. There is a House Dixie in York with the Southern Battle Flag as the COA, there is a house Grumman in Germany with a Plane Silhouette as their Coat of Arms.

Eu4's release was bug free for the most part. The latest patch really just flooded the game with bugs, glitches and AI stupidity.
Niccolò Machiavelli is the count of Firenze around 400 years before he was born.
I got lazy and gave the Eastern Theatre HQ objectives to take
fuck the netherlands just joined the allies and are invading north-west germany

Sengoku-CK2-EU4 were of a professional standard.
I still have nightmares about HoI3 though.

Thats debatable, they're alright since they have a modernized millitary to start out with. UK and Japan are also good starting ones.

Personally I think the best countries for beginner players are Italy/Spain for getting accustomed to combat, and America is also a good choice.

Especially by Cheating your way to being able to declare war on Canada and Mexico and have them both fully annexed by 1938 :?D

As opposed to starting with a backwater like Brazil?
I played 5 minutes of that country and got so bored, I want to get stuck in with the action and besides, I like to organize my German OOB's.
Germany seems like a good starter to me. Country is compact, navy is the least important of the majors, Poland and France are pretty straight forward to conquer, and best of all you control the outbreak of war.
In my game as Russia, Ireland won against the UK and all their sattellites and allies by itself and it just got independent
Too bad i deleted the save because my game started crashing uncontrollably after i destroyed Bukkhara

I'm saying Spain and Italy are good ones for getting into the action since they start off or almost immediately get embroiled with wars (SCW, Ethiopia). There's also Japan, who typically gets involved with the Chinese in a manageable theater before getting in another with US and friends.
I'm currently playing through the Victoria 2 tutorials, it's quite a complex and in-depth game. I don't know how to use my gained knowledge to good use during a game. Everything is really complicated.
