I realized that most countries with black as a main colour in their flag are nasty
Every time I go back to Ironman mode I wonder why I even bothered and end the entire experience frustrated.
Story time! :words:
January 10th, 1860: Egypt becomes a civilized nation (and goes from rank 77 to rank 12) My friend had reactionary rebels capture his capital and undo all of his westernization progress so I'm now playing singleplayer. I suck so much in warfare in Victoria 2, currently I'm trying to get Two Sicily under my sphere as Sardinia-Piedmont. I loose more men to attrition and supply limit than actual warfare, it's so fucking annoying. I always loose that war, are there some viable tactics because usually my wars end in a clusterfuck of troops running around being disorganised and unefficent.

So I've been converting all of the princes and encouraging the reformation. This is a pretty interesting game, trying to Isolate Austria and slowly vassalize member states. If I can get the Landfriede I'll be set for life. Tip for Ironman mode: Don't be afraid to lose wars, the suggest option makes that easy, they just take money half of the time if they're winning a little.

Army composition should be almost equally split up between infantry and artillery and then you simply dig in, allow the enemy to come to you and counterattack once you've broken them.

It's really hard to navigate around Two Sicilies due to the low supply limit. I might just try to defend the Papal States and stand by until the enemy attacks, although I don't know if this war can be financed for several years.
Try baiting their armies to ambush areas with smaller regiments. It'll cost 'ya a couple thousand soldiers, but it'll navigate the enemy to where you want them to go.
Hey, anyone up for a multiplayer game of vicky 2 HoD? Me and croguy were thinking about setting up a game. The big story by trafficman made me want to try it. I don't know how to set it up tho; anyone have relatively fast internet connection and hamachi?

I wish Lux Invicta was convertible to EU4. It's the only mod where I can actually feel okay playing a boring German Catholic.

When sieging provinces you should break down your armies into smaller forces, just enough so they're under the maximum supply limit for a province, usually you'd find this to be 3-5 units per siege. But always keep the main army behind the sieging ones as a precaution in case the enemy recuperates and tries to pick them off. And another word of advice, get your soldier POP to a minimum of at least 7% per region. Being up to date in reinforcement tech makes for quicker recovery of battered armies too.

Year 1479 of my "Blob Mod" playthrough with the Ottomans, I've recently liberated Italy from Austria's evil clutches. I've also stolen their mainland and capital. Next on the list, recapturing Bohemian and Polish land that they stole from me.

Any tips for combat in EU III? I always find myself losing wars pretty fast and it frustrates me to no end when the AI wins for seemingly no reason.
Any tips for combat in EU III? Countries like France, Ottomans, Spain, Austria, etc. The combat in Eu3 is based on dice rolls but you can balance that with good generals, technology/units, terrain bonuses (defense) , discipline. So try to be on the defending side in a mountain battle, especially if you have defense oriented troop types. Keep your forces near eachother so that they can reinforce eachother if they encounter a giant force. I have not played that game in a long time so I could be mistaken.
Any tips for combat in EU III? Even better if you can use them to finish off the routing enemy army. If you're lucky and manage to finish a battle before the end of the month, you're able to recover some of that morale so you have a better chance of doing just that. I don't find myself in the defensive role usually, but a good tactic to stalling the enemy is scorching the earth near the frontlines. I find this a good measure to hurt the enemy's mp a bit, while at the same time giving you the time to reorganize and whatnot. [editline]11th October 2013[/editline] Also rivers are just as dangerous as mountains, but it can't be helped if you can't avoid them on the offense. They're virtually everywhere I swear to god.
Are nations capable of pulling armies out of their asses in EU4? I was fighting Rus, it's literally crumbling, and has no way of making money is being attacked mercilessly by others, yet it managed to field 54 units where I had 43.

Unless you're playing with AI bonuses and/or lucky nations of course. Also I don't know if the AI does it, but maybe they're taking loans.
Any tips for combat in EU III? I always find myself losing wars pretty fast and it frustrates me to no end when the AI wins for seemingly no reason.
Combat and pretty much everything is vastly improved in EUIV. You should try that instead.

All large nations can pull armies out of their ass because of mercenaries though.
