So long as they pay some attention to improving the religious system, doesn't have to be theocracies or military orders, I'll be happy with it

Oh god I hope it's not actually the underworld invasion

Wait a second... Let's look over the evidence.
Rome burning, probably sacked.
Large group of people moving through a huge expanse of territory.
Something wicked this way comes.
Migration Period DLC confirmed. Hold onto your butts, we 250-400 AD now.
The quote is also from Shakespeare's Macbeth, which is about degradation of society after overuse of evil choices in political and personal life.

I can't imagine the dynastic features making any sense in such a time period honestly.
I would REALLY prefer something stupid like an underworld invasion of satanic armies or zombies in honour of Halloween rather than anything to do with late antiquity. Have the last picture have to do with people fleeing the end times and nothing about Goths or Franks. Please don't fail me twice Paradox
The year is 1047

I'd be ok with a late antiquity expansion because whatever new mechanics they'd add, they'd improve the 1066 game as well. Silly halloween stuff could be kinda cool (if it's more than "lol doomstacks") but it wouldn't add anything to the vanilla experience.
But I'd prefer something that isn't an earlier start date nor zombies.

What something based off the 1632/Ring of Fire Series?
It would be unique and not zombie-related.

Saying this is like being gay in Russia. While I agree, most Paradox fans seem to be even more uptight when it comes to historical accuracy than even Total War fans, and that is saying something.
I would honestly love an underworld invasion. Hell, I have always wanted to remake the "End of Days" mod of Rome: TW for Rome II. Yeah, I know this is the Paradox thread, but it's the same principal and the fanbase overlaps so I will talk a little bit about Total War. Anyways, I think the idea of Demonic armies fighting Christians is the ultimate Good vs. Evil story, but it is also very bleak. I mean, it's the end of the fucking world, and it isn't even pretty. This isn't the ending where everything explodes or catches fire or shit like that, this is the end with raping, pillaging, demons rendering entire cities uninhabitable. It is more bleak than The Road as far as apocalypse stuff goes.
So I would absolutely want to see a crazy, historically inaccurate DLC about a satanic invasion. It wouldn't be the first time something wild has happened. We have the Sunset Invasion DLC, after all. I just hope they let us choose when it activates, rather than having it be a small, random chance.

Probably more like Island in the Sea of Time
But for real, hopefully it's better religious stuff for everyone, Catholics especially. Perhaps it gives heretics more to do than fuck up the parent religion (perhaps even legitimizing themselves) or an improved crusading/jihad experience with more and better events.
Someone on the forums thinks the two images could be related to these events

Based on what I've read it could work. They had tribal dynasties, blood feuds, etc. Reversing the Fall of western Rome could also be interesting.
A system like the barbarian invasion DLC for Rome total war where you can roam without territories could also be interesting.
i'm guessing some sort of expansion based on the new adventurer system, going off to make new kingdoms

I had forgotten all about that mechanic, this seems most likely.
I converted that save above at 1445, Tikanariyen is the only Nation with the western tech group, everyone else is East.
Dev Diary!

Oh thank God you can finally request Crusades. I can't count how many times I've been playing as Jerusalem and watched as Pope after Pope calls crusades for Andalusia while I get gobbled up.
I called improvements to religions, but I didn't expect jews!
Hah, took them long enough to get Judaisim implemented.
If you Convert a CK2+ Game to EU4 it brings over Judaism if there is a nation with it.
I hope cardinals will be moddable; I'd like to have more cardinals than just nine.
Well that was a rather short stream.

Same, some targets have a heavier 'load' on the pope.
For example I want to go crusading for Alexandria/Egypt but 0 weight for it to be called.
I was wondering if I was going to play as a Jew or not, because I'm not really interested about a 867 Khazaria start. But I realised I can do the same as I did in my Zoroastrian playthrough: start as some pagan, kidnap some Jewish girls, make one of them my concubine and convert. Bonus points if I manage to change my realm's culture to Ashkenazi or Sephardic.
