If you don't already have a Paradox forum account you'll need to create one and register your cd key to it. [editline]29th October 2013[/editline]
So I bought EU3 for my old PC that ran windows vista 64x, and my new one has Win8 x64. However, I recently reinstalled EU3 and everytime on launch, it brings up the main loading screen, says "loading map-sprites" then I get an error saying "EU3DW has stopped working." I'm on 5.2 with EU3 Chronicles. I have a friend who has EU3 running perfectly on Win8. Compatibility mode does nothing. Any solutions? I bought it through Gamersgate not Steam so it's standalone.
A quick look through "common problems" suggests you could try disabling DEP (or add an exception for EU3). If that doesn't work then, yeah, get the Paradox forum tech support guy to help.

Awesome! The new military order mechanics alongside Calatrava/Santiago additions sounds great. It seems like they have a lot of cool mechanics they'll be stuffing in (fix Islam though plz).
Oh, whoops. I forgot to mention the events for the scenario aren't in yet but I'm working on those. I've also been given the Dark Continent (black plague) scenario stuff in mostly-working form, so that might show up on the workshop when I'm done with events for Peace of God.
I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for that then.
Huh, if you convert a save with Aztec Holdings in Europe they don't get the High American Tech Group, in my save they have the eastern tech group.

I never bothered to play moslems except on one occasion because of it. [editline]29th October 2013[/editline] Luckily there's 3-4 DDs left so there's still a chance they'll address decadence in one of them.

Porting Ck2 maps with the expansions always makes for an interesting eu4 game.

That may be possible since the book was written in the 16th c., I just don't get what it would be about if it was legitimate. An Asia-wide religious focused expansion?

Mesopotamia's being a big jerk-face. I just finished conquering Persia as the Roman Empire. Decided I'd give the Persians a break and return things to "the good old days," so I started scrounging up Zoroastrians to give counties, duchies and even the kingdom to. Barely 2 years after I gave them independence Mesopotamia (originally a buffer state I made for shits and giggles) invaded Tabriz. Since the Persians are currently dealing with an independence crisis between some of the few Orthodox rulers who don't like being ruled by a Fire God, the Mesopotamians seem poised to succeed. How am I supposed to fix this, find an excuse to declare war on Mesopotamia and crush their armies?

Managed to cut Mesopotamia down to size, but they've gone land mad and started gobbling up Arabia, Alimid and Mecca are currently controlled by them. The Muslims are going the way of the Norse. Persia at the time of posting this has consumed all of it's former Empire territories sans the ones in Mesopotamia. [t]http://i.imgur.com/KAUSfMb.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/YWrY1KL.jpg[/t] I know there's some blobbage going on with the Roman Empire, but that was due to private vassal wars. I could go in and fix 'em up using the old revoke/grant trick, but that's a bit too much effort on my part. The Hordes never managed to make any sort of headway into Europe. Ilkhanate conquered some of Persia and Turkestan, but I holy war'd them and broke their backs with the Imperial Retinue. I kept the lands I conquered from these wars for the next 30+ years until the Golden Horde came along, which I beat back before they could actually grab anything. Now I'm just waiting for Timur and his Iron Horde... Although I think I'll let the Carpathians handle him. The borders of the Empire have more or less stayed the same for the past 200 years.
I always get bored after my Kingdom becomes an expansive empire in Ck2. It also just gets tedious.

I mean, I've just let the HRE sit there but that's because it's boring as hell to use imperial reconquest to take a single province at a time. [editline]2nd November 2013[/editline] Scratch that, I get it from a roleplaying perspective, but the Romans were expansionists/imperialists, and I'm sure they'd want to expand their newly reformed Empire even further than it's original borders.
Scratch that, I get it from a roleplaying perspective, but the Romans were expansionists/imperialists, and I'm sure they'd want to expand their newly reformed Empire even further than it's original borders.
Historically the Romans were never too interested in the lands beyond their final borders. The lands were too poor, the people too fierce, etc. etc. Instead, what the Romans did was install buffer states between them and the world beyond the world (since many Romans considered everything within the borders to constitute the world, hence ecumenical.) They called it "non-aggressive Imperialism." That's what I did with this save. Pretty much every Christian state in Europe became that way because it was conquered, formed, and granted independence by the Empire. Hell, it was a great way to get rid of unwanted sons, giving them kingdoms to play with and leaving them to their own devices. The Carpathians were a unique case; I tried to start tearing them apart to form Hungary, but barely one province in they converted to Orthodox. Ever since I've had a "special" relationship with them. Carpathian princesses are common brides for Roman Emperors, and vice versa.
[thumb]http://puu.sh/56JeU.jpg[/thumb] Ok Poland have you ever tried 3 countries at once? JA BABY LETS DO THIS THING. ( http://i.imgur.com/q1aHCki.png?1 )
I really need some sound advice here: I'm sitting with this empire in 955 and as you'll easily notice, this is my first game in Ck2 ever. I'm emperor of a 521 or so county realm, yet my demesne is only one county and that's the one NOT visible on the map; Venice. I panicked early-game when my vassals started hating on me, and just gave shit left right and center. The consequence is that some random norwegian has jarldoms in britain and vice versa. Everything is fucked to shit in that regard. Zero order and for some odd reason, no one is paying tax, even though i'm on good enough terms with them to do so and my feudal taxation is at low. It's a death-spin upside-down that i can't get out of. Some of my vassals now have more prestige and wealth than me, as i haven't got a demesne worth speaking of. My title of Emperor and fylkir (norse reformed religious head) have more or less become of equal stature of modern constitutional monarchies. If i sign off on something, it's all good. if i don't, they'll remove me and it's all good.
