Yaks are just really boring ass planes to look at in general
Absolutely can't wait for the new Yak, very nice to see a new fighter in WT :v:
Also the Yak-3 VK-108 would be cool as an ultra-fast version of the Yak-3.

I mean look at this shit.
I can't wait for Yak-9D and Yak-9DD.
(Long range variant of Yak-9 and a LONGER range variant of Yak-9 :v:)
Let's just put the 57mm one in while we're at it. I mean god damn.
I unironically want the one with the 23mm VYa. I wanted that gun on a proper fighter since I first flew the IL-2.

You could always ask for the Tu-1 Heavy Fighter. Based off a Tu-2SH, it got a nice armament of:
2 × 45 mm Nudelman-Suranov NS-45 cannon
2 × 23 mm Volkov-Yartsev VYa-23 cannon
2 × 12.7 mm UBT machine guns (gunners)
up to 1,000 kg (2,200 lb) of bombs

DONT GIVE THEM ANY IDEAS

though thats a Yak-3 I suppose, but still there is apparently evidence that a Yak-9K took on the N-57 cannon at some point

I have been asking for this for quite a while, I think they said they don't think it would be a good addition for some reason.

An Su-2, a Peshka, Two I-185s and and a wing of Yak-9Ts smashed into eachother and they decided to call it a Sturmovik
Oh let me just drop the ammo count too.
45mm N-45: 200 Rounds (50 per gun. 37mm ammo not listed. I assume it's the same or greater.)
7.62 ShKAS: 19200 Rounds (2400 per gun.)

Why in gods name.
I mean I know the whole point of the plane was long range attacker, but 20,000 goddamn rounds?

That has to be an error. I don't believe Russians had a feed system for ShKAS (that was notoriously unreliable and very often jammed on it's own) capable of delivering 2400 rounds for one gun.
More likely somebody looked at Chaika having 2400 rounds and thought that's per ShKAS but it was for 4 of them, so this thing would have 4800 for the 8 guns.
Whats the cumulative ROF of all those shkas'?
I unironically want the one with the 23mm VYa. I wanted that gun on a proper fighter since I first flew the IL-2.
Yeah, me too. Almost makes me start grinding down the Yak line to get the one that has 23mm as an alternate armament, but I'm pretty sure it has 60 RPG or something stupid like that. Imagine the snipes you could pull off with a centerline VYa though.
Whats the cumulative ROF of all those shkas'?
14400RPM so 240 7.7mm bullets every second.
Whats the cumulative ROF of all those shkas'?
14400RPM
240RPS
Almost the equivalent of the F-82E with a gunpod assuming all 14 Brownings are M3s. (280RPS)
That has to be an error. I don't believe Russians had a feed system for ShKAS (that was notoriously unreliable and very often jammed on it's own) capable of delivering 2400 rounds for one gun.

Gun armament for strafing military personnel on the ground consisted of four 7.62 mm (.30 cal) ShKAS machine guns installed in each outer wing panel. Each mounting provided 2,400 rounds per gun. An additional machine gun of the same type, with 500 rounds, was installed on a movable LU-100 hatch set operated by the radio operator/gunner. A 12.7 mm (.50 cal) UBT machine gun, with 200 rounds of ammunition, was installed in a UTK-1 top turret. These machine guns protected the aft hemisphere from enemy attacks.
Probably is just an error, your logic sounds a lot more sound on that front.
Devs already noted Su-8 is highly unlikely. Su-6 stands a chance.
Another note, I just read about something called an UltraShKAS that has 2800-3000RPM instead of 1800RPM. But they weren't put in use due to reliability issues.

The 9UT starts off with a 23mm Noodlyman in the nose with 80 rounds. The 9P unlocks a 23mm that has 75 rounds. The extra 5 rounds don't sound like a huge difference but if you pulse your fire you'll be fine.
I'm actually pretty excited for the plain jane Yak-9. Call me weird but I love the Yaks. They look nice and sleek compared to...well, pretty much everything else in the Soviet tree, and they can pack a wallop too.
Yaks are great. They're like soviet versions of the 109 series focused on lower altitude, and with a bit more agility.

My first reaction to that comparison was pure anger followed by sadness.
My first reaction to that comparison was pure anger followed by sadness.
They are, though. You fly both sets of planes pretty similarly. Pure energy fighters reliant on their great power:weight ratios, great vertical performance, fantastic acceleration, lock up badly at high speeds, nose mounted heavy weapons, fly best between 400kmh-500kmh. The real major difference is the 109s climb better, and work better at higher altitudes.
Fun notes on upcoming extended versions of RB/SB.

Guess I'll give that a try then, pretty sure I'm only a plane or two away from the 9P/UT.
[editline]29th July 2014[/editline]
Yeah, still have to research the 9U before I can grind out the 9P. Ah well, gotta get them 6/6 Era IV planes anyways.
[editline]29th July 2014[/editline]
Time to give the Yak-3P a try.
[editline]29th July 2014[/editline]
Holy shit, first match in the 3P and there are six other 3Ps on my team.
ugh that russian bias is pissing me off
So i just got a tiger.
Any tips?

Red Yak is best Yak. That thing's a beast, I've seen people go 15/0 in it. The 9U isn't terribly good, unless you think you can pull off Soviet Magic with a pair of berezins and a shvak while flying against stuff berezins were never meant to scratch the paint of. It's agile enough, but I honestly wouldn't recommend using it unless you want that most honorable position of "yak herder."
Yeah, pretty sure I'll skip the 9U, just want dem noodleman cannons in the 9P/9UT
