Honestly I feel like they are compensating for the first one being a bit too easy. I would have been fine with a difficult challenge if it was based on individual play and not based on how functional your potatomates are.

Yes, sometimes it's easy free shit and sometimes it's hard free shit, but it's not like only some people could go for the tanks (mainly when the best farming vehicles in the game are Rank Reserve for germany and rank 2.3 for Russians).
Maybe they wanted to get more people into tanks with easily accessible low rank premium.
It's up to them, they aren't obliged to give completely optional not-pay-to-win content to anybody.

Basically this. I had fun doing the first mission, especially because it was something that wasn't just up to the luck of the draw. You have so much more control over your kills and wins in ground forces than you do in planes. Planes are so much more situational and dependent on your team's plane choice and how well you can work together.
Trying to get 250 wins in a plane is a total crap shoot because it's extremely hard to carry a team in the air where teamwork is so much more important than it is with tanks. You can be the best damn War Thunder player ever and you'd still have a hell of a time getting consistent victories without just gaming the system to take advantage of broken mechanics.

It's pretty much destined for 1.43, or shortly after. They want one jet bomber for every nation at a time. With the Ar 234 and the 234C on the way, the Go 229, and others - Germany's set.
