Imho skip bombing is more fun than torpedoing anyway.
Not sure if it still works, but you can use torpedoes like bombs against ships.

Still works, you just can't dive bomb, need to swoop low and drop it mostly level.

i think it's slightly different from flight of the swallows, because it's battle, and they mention thunderbolts, which aren't in flight of the swallows

I've never tried it, how does it work? The only time I've seen it done was a video a while back taken in IL-2 Sturmovik where the guy skip-bombed a bunch of ships in a Pe-2, and the video was set to Polyushka Polye.

Apparently, you need to set your bombs with a 2-5 second timer, fly at least 30 meters above the water and drop the bomb at least 500 meters away from the target (Depends on bomb and aircraft)

Actually you don't. If you're flying low and fast enough, the bomb won't activate on impacting the water and will straight up bounce instead. Try it. :v:

kinda sucks that they are [I]just[/I] RATO pods so they will only go for like 9-18 seconds vs the ones on the rocketbutt Me262s that go for a few minutes

The dev literally said "all the planes that will need them" so I presume all planes that had them and struggle to take off on their airfields. We already know about Kikka and Il-28, but probably also Arado and the Canberras.

The Yer-2 barely being able to take off with a full payload is historically accurate though. The actual Yer-2s would crash on take off trying to lift off with 5000kg of bombs most of the time.

It, and a few other heavy bombers, can in no feasible way clear the airfield in some maps though. Which isn't as bad as expecting them to land on an aircraft carrier, but is quite a pain.
[sp]The real solution is to make bigger airfields. Which I hope with this infinite missions thing, they eventually go back and groom maps to have 2-3 like they were talking about. The furthest away one could be huge, and accessible to bombers. Middle would be risky. Front line would be small and dangerous.[/sp]

wow actually I just tested it in a test flight and the G5N1 actually gets its fat ass off an airfield really quickly for how huge it is
What happened to tank simulation battles in this game? I played it quite a bit when the tanks were first released and had a ton of fun, but now it's all but empty. I can't stand the nametags over people's tanks in the other modes. It makes the game more of a point and click through bushes adventure than anything else.
In my IS-2 on Karelia near the bottom of the hill outside the enemy western spawn.
JgPz 38(t) comes charging down the hill at me so his frontal armour is practically flat facing towards me.
I shoot near his driver's view-port.
"Hit!"
He then rams me and shoots near [I]my [/I]driver's view-port, penetrating it and subsequently setting off my ammunition.
FUN FUN FUN!
So today I pulled out the first B-25 for the first time in a while, and I am reminded of how much of a force of nature that thing is. I'm averaging 3 fighter kills and several soft targets a match (since I only have the 100lb bombs so far), but more importantly I found out its rather more durable than I remembered. Chasing an AI Wellington I try to turn behind him from below and to his side, but I overshoot and end up pushing my wing up rather rapidly into one of his. My plane receives a light pink discoloration to the hull (no wing damage), while the Wellington gets ripped in half and I get the kill since I had lightly damaged it already.
Also, I got bored and did some reading on the XP-55, which as it turns out only had 3 prototypes. This gives me hope that maybe, just maybe, this thing might actually make into the game as some obscure and extremely expensive premium: [url]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Northrop_XP-79[/url]
