Use bomb cam to follow your bomb. The crosshair isn't needle accurate.
AI Units
50kg / 100lbs - Soft Targets (AAA, Trucks, AAA Trucks, etc.)
100kg / 250lbs - Absolute Direct Hit for most targets. Can land close to light tanks. 2 for bridges, 3+ for destroyers.
250kg / 500lbs - Tiny bit of splash. Can kill destroyers on direct (middle of ship) hits.
500kg / 1000lbs - Nice splash. Can kill destroyers most anywhere.
1000kg+ / 2000lbs+ - Leave this for base bombing and carriers.
For CARB, move it up a notch against player tanks. 50kgs can kill if you hit them dead on. 100kgs do well close, etc.
can someone whip up one of the classic WT thread extremely-informative-well-formated-protip-posts about Korean war jets in game? IE: Sabres, Migs, and Meteors strengths/weakness/playstyles etc?
you would be my hero forever

They might add the 1200, 1800, 2000, and 2500kg bombs for Germany in 1.43 or in the future.
The thought of dropping a 2500kg bomb on a 10 second timer near enemy tanks makes me happy.

That's just mean, dude.
1.43 better hurry up so I can be a real dick. :v:
Yay, unlocked my first jet
My two current choices for planes that I can actually buy right now are the Yak-3 and the Spit F mk9. I'm tempted to get the Yak, but didn't the Yak series jets end up being kinda shit?

The Yak jets are utter shit and completely irredeemable. Yak-3 is great though and you should buy it.
Spit F.IX is kind of alright but the XVI and LF.IX after that are incredible and you will love them.
Unlocked the first TU, just need 100k lions now.

Better discount on the Spit right now. What about the Meteors? If those are any good I might ignore the Yak for now, I just wanna finally get to a jet so bad

[t]http://i.cubeupload.com/4K81xU.jpg[/t]
Shame it's the worst one, the 49-I with only single 7.7mm guns to defend itself with. But I'm getting there on getting all the skins. 1.43 needs to happen already, I'm going crazy.

Meteor F3 and Sea Jesus are excellent entry level jets imo, the Meteor F3 is probably the most agile one along with the He-162 and doesn't meet anything that can outright school it. It's sort of slow for a jet, but a lot more comfortable coming from props.
Sea Jesus is that but with fuckhueg engines and climbs like a fucking rocket. 10/10 club plane.
On that note, would anyone care to fly planes? Played a couple of solo RB rounds earlier and I'm already strangling my monitor

STUFF BOYS
So um, just to clarify so I know which ez-mode plane to aim for next on the tea tree, Sea Jesus = Sea Meteor, riiiiight?

AMERICUNTS
The only thing that can stand up against American F Sabres is German CL Sabre (which is a bit better than them (no, it's not unbeatable and F-2 has better guns)). Panthers are roughly comparable to MiG-15s and Meteors, albeit better than both. Probably best non-sabre jet at the moment. P-80 and F-84 are utmost shit, avoid at all costs. F-80C is ridiculously undertiered and unfair.
All American jets have disproportionately good low alt high speed performance and you wanna keep that in mind when both fighting them and playing as them. They want to stay low, turn in the horizontal, and boom and zoom without really putting much elevation into it. They are the easiest to play as your energy management boils down to "just don't let your speed drop too much, if it's getting low fly in a straight line".
They have quite a bit lower acceleration than Soviet and British planes (except for Panther) but handle very well at high speeds and don't have considerable low speed disadvantage against anybody.
СОВЕТСКИЙ
All soviet jets are inferior to American counterparts, MiG-9 is very comparable to the 262 because it practically IS a 262 with a different wrapper. It's probably a bit better than 262. Yak-15/17 are comedy hurr planes - a prop plane with engine replaced for jets with guns that have no ammo. Really funky, serviceable with massive amount of self discipline and matchmaker luck. MiG-15 vanilla is plain shit, MiG-15bis is a match (probably bit better) for Meteors and Panthers. It should be the king of acceleration and climb but it's only slightly better than Sabres at these. It can't handle high speeds well. It has low velocity guns. It's extremely fragile.
GEROMNY
German jets except for CL Sabre and Me-162 are all comedy hurr (worth it if you don't care about winning). I would recommend 162 as the babby's first jet if F-80C wasn't significantly better as well as easier than it.
162 still handles quite familiarly to a prop pilot but is actually good unlike Yak-15, coincidentally it is also quite shittily armed. It's quite energetic, not slow, doesn't handle badly. Good all-rounder aside of the shitty firepower.
262s come in basically three options. Vanilla, ass rocket, and 50mm-polka-destroyer.
Vanilla is decent and fun but severely over-tiered. Vanilla is feels good to fly, but the engines are underpowered and the plane is very heavy. As long as you manage to somehow haggle up an energy and use it efficiently, you can school anything you get a jump on, but Sabres just gonna boost away and everything else will bleed you of energy and attack from above if you don't win quickly. The guns are the most destructive available to any jet and with a decent ammo capacity, but the lowest velocity too. Either good leading skills or spray prayers required.
Ass rocket is the same thing except suddenly, you have an optional brief moment of HAHA WHO HAS UNDERPOWERED ENGINE NOW, BITCH, temporarily getting a boost that makes you accelerate hard as hell. Sadly, you can't turn it off and it lasts a bit over 2 minutes on both versions. The planes are also considerably heavier until you burn out the boost. Otherwise identical to vanilla.
Polka-destroyer has comedy hurr gun which requires excellent ability to aim and lead, but since it has much better velocity than the vanilla guns it's quite deadly and definitely workable in good hands. It's a bit lower rank which helps you stay away from sabre shitbuckets you cannot deal with. It's probably a bit heavier than vanilla, other than that, everything applies.
Me 163 - rips wings off more often than not from even just rolling. Lower max speed than every single plane it faces at it's rank. Low ammo count for what it has to put up with. Just avoid unless masochistic/easy to amuse.
CL-13 Sabre is a Sabre. It Sabres. Go fast, turn horizontally when everyone gives up on chasing you. Do slashey passes. Blah blah blah, you are either going to play this and people will call you out for power creep and being over powered, or play something else and gonna get regularly stomped by overpowered American Sabres. Pick your poison.
Arado is the secret wunderwaffe, drop bombs, ram bombers, just why not?
Nippon
Gets it's own F-25 Sabre and a wannabe Comet. Not worth talking about.
Britain
I am too lazy so here have an expert guest opinion by Shibbey, the resident Britain sperg
01:14 AM - Säbelzahnkatze: brit jets are basically
01:14 AM - Säbelzahnkatze: meteor f3 is decent starter jet
01:14 AM - Säbelzahnkatze: sea jesus is amazing as long as you're gentle on her wings
01:15 AM - Säbelzahnkatze: meteor f4s are still great if no longer as clubby but WAIT FOR THE F-SABRES TO GO UP IN RANK FIRST or you'll just fight them all the time
01:15 AM - Säbelzahnkatze: Meteor f8 is really kind of poor unless youre in a squad because they're more of a jet A6M compared to the sabre/mog
01:15 AM - Säbelzahnkatze: vampire is excellent and extremely agile but you should probably wait for it to drop to 7.3 unless you are manly

I keep getting more kills with Flak's then with actual tanks

All real players killed with my Flakpanzer B-)
When you say Me-162, are you talking about the Salamander? Because that's a Heinkel plane, not Messerschmitt.
Any info on active development on of F9F Cougar?

Can't say more. We will talk about it later. When we will have completed most of our plans for current Tech Trees
Damn it.

He does mean the He-162. He gets very confused at times. When he wants to play he still sometimes calls this game "World of Warplanes". I have stopped correcting him.

that's a low fucking blow sam
I actually feel embarrassed
[editline]10th August 2014[/editline]
for the record I DID know I mixed up a He or Me somewhere in there because I never bothered to remember which was which between comet shwalbe and salamander, because it doesn't fucking matter, but I didn't feel like checking a source
Doom's Handy Guide to Enjoying the TB-3
Step 1: Find a low-memory game or activity. As in terms of computer usage.
Handy Suggestions: Emulators, Doom, old games, Netflix, Youtube, etc.
Step 2: Boot both that thing and War Thunder. Start up a que for your handy dandy TB-3 in RB.
Step 3: Do your other thing. Come back only to spawn and point your plane at the target.
Step 4: Go back to your thing. Enjoy doing that thing for another two to five minutes.
Step 5: Combat! Enjoy the absurdity that is your TB-3 in combat, and make sure to pause your other thing.
This includes but is not limited to: Killing everything, going slow, getting insta-gibbed by that one fucking AAA, killing everything, funny remarks from confused players, lots of bombs, and killing everything.
Step 6: Wonder at what point your life took the turn that lead you to play two games at one time instead of anything productive.
Brotip to prevent someone BnZing you.
If he's diving on your go to the left or right. Most pilots dont have controls that allow proper usage of the Rudder and most planes are sluggish when they turn left or right at high speeds anyways. The instructor will also probably spazz out for them
You don't realize how FAT the P47 is until you get the Kingcobra
[editline]9th August 2014[/editline]
ps the Kingcobra's cockpit is gorgeous
Most satisfying kill....
Flying low-level in B25, bombing ground targets with 250kg (if i recall). Flying fairly erratic to evade enemy fire and dropping bombs at the same time. Zoom over a line of Tanks, drop two bombs; only 50m or so above the surface traveling at over 250mph- *BOOM* *BOOM*! AIRCRAFT DESTROYED!
Glorious!!!!!
So far, my favorite kill has been killing someone head-on in a Beaufort because they scraped their face along my plane's belly.
Although I didn't get this kill... I was being chased by a Typhoon and he was the last enemy so I tried to outrun him and head towards where my teammates were. I noticed there was a bomber (B25) closer to me than any fighter plane so I decided to head towards that. The bomber kept going straight, I zoomed on by, and the B25 pilot slammed headfirst into the Typhoon. It was beautiful. The B25 was unscathed.

Did Gaijin ever make the XP-38 not a pile of shit?
Just got my first B-17, any tips for it?
Upgrade the gunners. Spend the Lions, or the Eagles, if ya got's to. That tail gunner is your life line.
Carry high explosives, go for bases and ships. Low level for ships, high for bases.
After you've dropped its RTB for rinse and repeat. Dive and return at low altitude (makes landing quicker and gets speed and distance between you and the enemy).
If you're caught against the enemy, fly like there's a screw lose on your yoke. Up and down, left and right. Don't bank hard and stress your G's. The gunners don't like it. But if you shake your fanny at the enemy while wobbling the wings and keep that speed up; you may just live... or better yet, get a kill!
